earlier. now it's kind of weakened and lightened up a little bit. now an ecuador isary line of heavy rain is moving into parts of pinellas county. it's really become widespread some of moderate to heavy rain. that is just really going to absolutely slow things down this morning. take look from palm harbor down through dunedin. clearwater, largo. you can see all the this heavy rains moving northeast around 30 miles per hour. but you see this red, put latest frame on tropical downpours in the clearwater area. getting ready to move over courtney campbell. secretary time this morning we've also got very heavy rain moving over the gandy bridge. now what we're not getting a tremendous amount of flooding yet. all this rain adds up just ask pasco county, hernando citrus county. they've already seen several inches of rain this all started late in day on friday going into early saturday. 19 through citrus county. back out to show you we're not done after this, because another band of rain setting up shop behind that. until this low moves, these pieces of energy, these spokes of energy with all the moisture we have in the atmosphere, will continue to bring us periods of rain. looking a at the flood watch pasco hernando citrus county. that's through tomorrow evening. and we'll talk more about what happens after that and what is the rest of the week look like coming up in just a little bit. >> if you're just joining we do have serious injury crash we're following out of the area of sheldon and linebaugh. lane blockages in effect as well. pretty active scene. we had some earlier shots showing a tanker truck overturned and there was vehicle trapped underneath sounds like we do have live look we can bring to you bear with us we will try to get that to you. in the meantime eastbound westbound looks like it's flooding a bit slow and then southbound direction of sheldon >> yeah could we take that live look. thank you. okay. let's try to get an update on latest here. looks like we still have the emergency crews on scene. but they appear to have been able to turn that tanker truck up right. there was quite a bit of concern because it was carrying about 5,000 gallons of fuel that's what we're told. so, it will still be few hours before this cleared out. alternate route waters you can also take instead sheldon earned honor anderson are as we mention this one. we do another delay spot that we're seeing memorial at kelly road. eastbound westbound we also have heavy delays eastbound on hillsborough from vets. back to almost country way area. if you could completely. and you know as we've reporting there is some light been coming down for last few days. even though it is light it can still cause at although of problems. just ask awful those folks in pasco county. they know it all too well. and fox 13's shayla reeves is there for usi remember one year ago what we erp seeing there. and i know these folks don't want to go through that again. oh, you're so right. it tooks weeks for some of that water to see reeve to get their lives b some of them lost their homes, some lost their vehicles. trying to deal with all of that rainfall. as you mentioned, many of them that we spoke with over the weekend said they do not want to experience that again. we're here near state road 54 as throughout morning we've seen an area where the water is continued to pool along the side of the roadway. but the roadway itself here, celtics drive has remained accessible for drivers who have you're seeing some of that video capture around this time last year as the, anclote river overflowed. and all ?of that water poured into neighborhood streets causing challenges for a number of the people who live in this area. we remember telling you about what happened as that time when all of the water pooled in the streets, the people were unable to leave their homes, and some of them were just stuck and hoping t finally stop. and they could finally begin that process of cleaning up. so we're going to be out here throughout morning that rain again has been a steady steady rainfall for at least the last hour or so. and i'll back with another live report (russell - a flood watch is in effect this mo almost 8:14. all right flood watch in effect you look sky tougher radar, you can see why daves tracking stormy weather it will last for few days he will give you us an update alive look slick roads, and they are saying rain is to blame for this awful accident in westchase area. a tractor trailer overturned on to a car. you can see the wreck age there. at linebaugh avenue and shelled done road. and vanessa is closely following the story. they are working to clear the area and we'll have an update on that minutes. you know a lot of us never leave home without our make up. poor jen epstein onset. she left the station >> team player. but there could be something in this may well toxic to our boths and we may not even know about it m this morning sorboni banerjee is here with look at what that is. hi, good toe see you. good toe so u guys. ban dangerous levels mercury there legal skin care products that contain and making their way to consumers here in the united states. products to check carefully are cost nexts marketed as anti aging or skin lightning. according to consumer. fda saying treatments that remove age spots freckles blemishes and wrinkle as acne treatments. mercury com bounds can easily absorbed um late in your body this could reaction skin irritation even neuro toxic problems. okay. >> and wee heard this before, yeah. >> we wear it anyway. what do you do about it? >> well when it comes to these particular products, big question is how do you know if they are actually contain mercury because not like labels ae going oh out out right necessarily say mercury right across them. these ingredients that you need to look for, on the labels sometimes so you definitely need to check out that label if you see any of these ingredients stop using that product immediately. main cosmetics of concern, they are the being manufactured abroad and making marketed to stories that care latino african middle eastern communities. but of course, guys they are facebook promoted online social media sold through mobile apps as well any of us anybody could stumble across these. it is worth checking the label. and making sure that youe sticking something on your skin like mercury. yeah. it's good to know. good to think about, you know. absolutely. thank you. great advice. good to see you. thank you. >> all right. rain on the radar, right? >> yeah. hey dave. lot of it. and we had a big round of heavy rain move through earlier. now a second one is set up shop. it's all through the viewing area. i mean all through the metro area now tampa over to st. petersburg. so let's get into it. first, you just see the overcast there on kennedy boulevard as we're looking west more rain getting ready to pour its way on shore. so right now i got to say the heaviest of the rain is in pinellas county. moving intom hillsborough county. sop that's where some of the steadier stronger downpours are now from clearwater right over the tampa. and we are right in the heart of this monday morning commute. so couldn't have a worse time. i think heavy rainfall. let's zoom nm get a little bit closer. pinellas park here's 275. okay, here's howard frankland. you're going south on 275. i mean look at this heavy rain band that is going to bofr over 2 steve literally in minute or two. that. will slow things down there. and of course, it's going to move over the gandy bridge and hourt franklin. so on and so on. heavy rain back into pinellas you see scattered heavy rain from dunedin. clearwater, largo. down through reddington beach. it's been lighter a little bit further north. but this is also an area from new port richey all way up through brooksville lecanto. these spots have seen several inches of rain so far from this whole storm system. so we've got to watch that area. in fact that's where flood watch is. i'll show you in just a second. slowly we're beginning see some of these closer to anna maria island and sarasota. bradenton. so, they are not there yet. but they will be. so like yesterday, we are expecting some of this to swing right through and start to work its way inland. i know polk county sitting around going we got nothing. we got nothing. we talked about this heaviest rain near the coast and to the north and that's what we have the flood watch continuing pasco hernando citrus county. this is going go all the way so until tomorrow evening. we're going to have to deal with that. look at all this rain sitting out here you can see spin with clouds. this is slowly going to work back toward the west. we call that retro grading. incidentally it will lighten its hold on bay area. that probably won't be until tomorrow. so would not surprise me to see couple three inches more of rain in our area over the next day and a half or so. i know, i know. you just want it to stop. 84 degrees for a temperature. with scattered showers and some heavier downpours embedded in there. then damp and muggy tonight, and the computer model are painting another very wet start to tomorrow as well. especially along the coast, especially to the north with your high around 85 degrees. now rain chances are going drop. what we're going to do is drop back to normal. 40 to 50 percent rain chances from wednesday through sunday. with a little bit more sunshine back later this week high temperature wills always squeeze mark as well. thanks, dave. and we'll check in here north side, north end of the howard frankland bridge. getting toward kennedy boulevard exit new crash we have right lanes taken up. affecting mostly that traffic trying to exit there at kennedy. looks like we are also dealing with some northbound delays please give yourself extra time heading this way already starting to see jams getting back towards the hump of the howard frankland bridge. and of course, we are checking in linebaugh shelled done looks like that still earlier we showed you live look where we saw tanker truck that was up right. we're getting word from our photographer on scene that that is not truck that was originally involved when the crash that second truck brought to scene in order to get some fuel. that's being carried in first truck. so we're not as far along as we thought as far as getting scene clear. we're hearing a couple hours of closures here, serious injuries as well. and we've got some investigators crash a little bit more. for folks who are just joining memorial and kelly road that crash looks like we're still dealing with lane blockage in eastbound westbound delays we also mentioned eastbound hillsborough avenue delays i did want to mention this because we're starting to see this pop up all the northbound southbound routes, between hillsborough and memorial highway starting to look jammed that does include web town 'n country and kelly road itself. live look updated look, looks like your major still pretty slow. so make sure giving yourself tra time as always be safe roadways ? ? hey, is this our turn? honey...our turn? yeah, we go left right here. (woman vo) great adventures are still out there. we'll find them in our subaru outback. (avo) love. it's what makes a subaru, a subaru. subaru models during the subaru a lot to love event, now through august thirty-first. i got shot down over vietnam and spent eleven months in a pow camp. what donald trump said about our members of the military being captured is a disgrace. he's a war hero because he was captured. i like people that weren't captured. when you fly over enemy territory, the odds might be against you being able to come home. ties usa action is responsible for the content of this advertising. ? ? ee-e-e-oh-mum-oh-weh ? ? hush my darling... ? ? don't fear my darling... ? ? the lion sleeps tonight. ? [snoring.] ? hush my darling... ? [snoring.] ? don't fear my darling... ? ? the lion sleeps tonight. ? [snoring.] snore. good day tampa bay i'm charley belcher at this long center in clearwater. 1501 north belcher road out here with fox 13's jennifer for our back to school supply drive. i should also tell you long center is home to the arc tampa bay which provides all sorts of activities for disabled adults, and they are getting here right now, so we've got a bit of a traffic jam going on here. >> we sure do with art clients getting here people coming here for back to school supply drive everything arriving with smile on their face. they really are and bag full of goods. look at that. we're doing pretty well. >> i think so. of youth today. high schooler middle schooler and an elementary schooler shall we find out what they are excited? why don't you start. >> jessica. what grade are you going into? fourth grade. you start on wednesday are you excited? yeah. you done with summer? you ready to go go to school? >> no. what are the things you need? what is your grade level especially? we need folders. we need binders. crayons markers, glue sticks. you also not only need stuff for your school semester but you brought some for everyone else too, what due abrink? i brought crayon, markerers and binder and glue. you aget older and a mature. casey. what kind of surprise supplies >> crayon, markers glue, pencils, pens, binders, folders. cray i don't understand in even in middle school. then of course, you're basically an adult in high school. whap kind of supplies is on your list for this year? pens be pencil as lot of paper and binder somebody donated a locker mirror for a high school girl, locker mirror is a snes stee isn't it? i mean, i don't really look at, i don't really need it. you don't need it because you know you're beautiful. of course. she has good hair. confident young woman. that's what i like to see 1501 north belcher road long center jen and i until 10 if you're closer to tampa side always stop by the fox 13 studios outside and visit russel and walter who are outside braving this wet weather. how's it look outside there guys it's looking wet. a little wet but a little different from last time you were out here. >> look at this. before 6 o'clock this morning. look at this steve our friend steve just pulled up. i wish he had to stay. but steve just brought all of that. i mean we real do people have we have this. that is loaded up with school supplies, and we need more invite you to come out here backside of our studio just lost power. lost lights. everything good danny had this is our top story today. a flood watch is still in effect for parts of the bay area right now. you can see what dave is working on. one look at skytower radar givers us a clear reason why. dave is tracking stormy weather few minutes. this is kind of morning where dave and vanessa are so busy. we're czech in on this accident that is causing some traffic concerns in westchase. a tractor trailer overturned on to a car and right now, a different semi-is trying to empty fuel out of the one that's involved in this accident. the this live look right now at the scene on linebaugh and sheldon road. vanessa will have more on this coming up in just a few minutes. in meantime, in other headlines hillary clinton is on r and her first stop will be in st. petersburg. the democratic candidate is holding two rallies. one in st. pete the other in kissimmee. her first stop will be at the $3 for a brewery tour and coliseum where see mransz on discussing jobs plan for first 10 days in office if she gets elected. event begins at 3:30. doors open at one:30. clinton campaign website says says rally is already full jeb comes to not supporting donald trump during gathering george bush said it time to get behind presidential nominee. he told the group it's a hard pill to intal low but you hope man that won and you make sure you stop hillary clinton. his father and of course his grandfather former president george w. bush still are not getting behind presidential nominee. meanwhile, with less than 100 days to go until election active's are still trying to get donald trump off ballot. and a petit national committee to call an emergency meeting to get it done. >> but the committee is just looking at it as an act of defines. they are not taking the grew group serious. some experts say fabulousing this is happening at all is showing how divide the party is right now. 8:32. outage spanning across the globe all of delta's flights are grounded. and it's because of a power outage that shut down its computer systems. fox 13's alcides segui is live alcides, we heard of this not that long ago with southwest airlines now delta. what mess it is, right? >> it is a mess. no doubt about it here a tampa international airport. it's a mess. almost all the flights are delayed. and if you look at airports across the world, they are saying same exact thing. although, i am on social media on twitter and i am starting to read several folks are flying delta airlines are starting to board their planes. so it will be interesting in next half hour airlines releases a statement saying slowly going back online. but again as of right now, according to delta airlines, 6:55 this morning all flights have been grounded because of that computer glitch here tia. you can see things are slow moving. i can tell you earlier this morning about an hour, two hours ago about 5 front wait here check-in line. not case any more. kiosk there is in middle as well, those self check in kiosks were down as well. but again, those are back up and that are catching flights and other places across the country, they are starting to board here a tampa international airport. we'll just it have to wait and see how everything pans out delta airlines is offering there passengers waivers. stand by here, a waiver is available for customers that are traveling august 8th-august 12th. for more information you can follow me on twitter or facebook. but it does appear they are trying to work as best as they again we will continue bring you up to date latest information on this developing story here at tampa international airport. but as of right now from what we understand, according to delta all flights are grounded. but again seems to be slow moving. we'll let you know coming up about 9:30. back to you. let's just stay with that point for minute i just heard on twitter friend just now boarding flight in indianapolis headed to orlando. >> so you know, i'm not sure what the situation is right now. talk to you soon. >> and, laura i know that we, are running out time. go ahead. just want to mention if you're catching a flight this afternoon you want to check flight status anyway you know lot of flights were delayed earlier this morning. that's going to domino effect later on this afternoon throughout day as well. and why they are saying, expect cancellations throughout the day. >> a lot of people trying to figure out what they are going to do next. an update coming up half 45 minutes. alcides, thank you. so-called syntax could coming to florida keys. and it could help pay for nonprofit organization and help enlight monroe county levee. add sales tax tobacco and alcohol served a bars and scombren rate $10 million year for human services fund. and because of the way that it's been proved, tourist that travel to keys would end up paying more than half of it. right now just draft resolution and discussed at commissioners august 17th. day of osterberg we just got look at the radar. it doesn't look good out there a busy morning for for you it already has been. right now it's concentrated in hillsborough ro and pinellas right now tampa st. petersburg. right in middle of our commute. therein lies the problem. place where we have the flood watch, knock on wood, they have some lighter rains. right now. so i really just want to zoom in and spend time tonk about wow, you want to talk about tropical this morning. so here's the howard frankland. and very, very heavy rain moving across the bridge. this is gandy bridge. all of this heavy rain is moving into south tampa. second round of heavy rain for south tampa. i say that because we know it doesn't take much in the way of rain to start to cause some issues on the roads here. so i need you to slow it down as airports got some pretty hefty rains moving across there and also are the courtney campbell as well. just one line because we do have some moderate showers as well in northwestern hillsborough county. and then you going up veterans into the suncoast. where it has been raining steadily for the past hour, hour and a half. folks the roads are wet. it's monday. early in morning i just got to understand we got to slow it down. we've three to five inches of rain one heavier band earlier light rain from crystal river down through 19. i also got some pop up showers along 75 from venice northwarded to just east of sarasota. and then back to the west, where you see this line of showers. it's starting ever to ever so slowly begin to approach anna maria area. so like yesterday, sarasota and bradenton, you will get some rainfall. going to come a little bit later area. but heaviest of it has to be sitting right over these bridges and south tampa. and parts of pinellas county. obviously. that is going to impact our morning commute. that is going to a slow things down. the heaviest rain, and is the flooding or potential for flooding exists through tuesday evening. and while it's not going to be wash out, we saw that yesterday, right? heavy rain in morning it was quiet in afternoon. the accumulation of several inches of rain could cause problems pasco citrus county where we have our flood watch out. it's all because of this, this low just kind of spinning around. and little spokes of energy interact with convergence some lifting tons of moisture in atmosphere to produce wave after wave of rain. so why we're seeing one this morning another one tomorrow morning a well by middle of week this flow moves back to westretro grate lessens it's impact. let's go over its grips if you standard afternoon evening shower and thunderstorm activity. but that won't until wednesday or thursday of this week. so, more showers, heaviest to the north. there's your high around 84 degrees. we will go overcast, damp muggy tonight. low ain maybe tomorrow er movi. your highdegrees. our nt show general are goingormal for at least nessa.back 4 the end of the all right, thanks, on of the to get le look in theark area. linebaughoverturned tankee materials carrying aboutal trapped we'reme h seriousinjuries. so still v uparea. d arounds once ai southbound direction henderson. you also have anderson. i would avoid vets because looking south in that southbound direction. wanted to point out smins is kind same area second crash reported on linebaugh now. block's westbound lanes looks pretty heavy in this direct but, if not, westbound traffic you're going to be detoured because nothing's getting by from what i'm seeing oh sensor majors look pretty bad oververy slow few crashes we're seeing out tampa area northbound at sligh. we have right lane blocked following a crash to manatee county southbound 75 two right lanes blocked state road 64 with back ups getting beyond 30 one howard frankland bridge north lanes blocked. visibility has dropped raining heavily in this area. 14 minutes to get from tampa side plan extra time. also, avoid or plan extra time here, northbound 275 still dealing with that wreck lane blockage near 54th avenue north. u.s. 19 looks pretty clear on fourth street north if you want to use those as work arounds. well time is ticking down to donate to our school s you. more than ever. we're going to check in with russell and walter outside our studios right now. how is weather, boys? >> rainy. i'm reporting live from tropical storm walter out here. no i'm pretty calm. i'm calm. it's the rain. it's pretty laura honestly pretty heavy right now. look at this. these people have been coming here today bringing this all in all this weather. storm we really want to talk about this flood of all of these filled to brim waffle these supplies. this car starting to fill up. generosity of people is really, really remarkable today. you know here's the thing though, gentlemen who lives around the corner, walked over here in the rain. yeah and dropped off a couple of backpacks. >> and you know, it, amazing. we've got people pulling up with car loads of things. and we've got people bringing one or two things. i we'll take it either way. we'll take it doesn't matter. share with us, reiterate the story you morning. if you saw us at seven:30, we had a lady here who is school social worker. and she was talking about the need for things like this. she really brought a point home to me that i had never thought about before. how many homeless kids, kids that live with their families in their cars. and come to school. and we mentioned backpacks for them, their backpacks are their suit cases. everything they own is in that it breaks your heart. we just don't need that to be going on. we don't need that to be going on. look at all this. not just kids that are affected. teachers because that expense goes on teachers they need to buy all this stuff. take burden off them take the surprise we're 3213 west kennedy boulevard on backside of north a in between lincoln. till 10 o'clock. until 10 o'clock we're doing this. if you can't get here today get here today we will figure out way to give you numbers and addresses so in case you want to donate another day we will you place to do that. oh before we go it was not danny harmon's light went i need to apologize and retraction. danny had monday your job is secure for a couple weeks. let's toss it over to charley jen at the long center. good morning russell and walter. rain is not stopping people from droing by and donating. look at all of this stuff, boxes, buckets full of school in fact look at this, look at this, i love this sponge bob back says make us splash. in fact very appropriate you know what that makes us me think vanessa and dave texting jen making fun they are in dry studio we're outside. but we in between we're in lull right now here's what we get to do. stick around everybody. y22pvy yy6y i got shot down over vietnam and spent eleven months in a pow camp. what donald trump said about our members of the military being captured he's a war hero because he was captured. i like people that weren't captured. when you fly over enemy territory, the odds might be against you being able to come home. donald trump doesn't understand the weight of sending americans into harm's way. he's unfit to be president. ((laura)) concussions are something we welcome back. 8:47 now. con discussion are something we hear about often. particularly of late. and they can have real impact on our children's health. and you might not think about the to could affect how well they do in school. our doc on call, doctor's rodriguez is going to tell us what we need to look out for when it comes to concussions. good morning to you dr. rodriguez. good to have you back this week. >> thank you. i appreciate it. thanks for having me. last time we talked about concussion you said it may take while to show some symptoms. wra what are they? what should we be watching out concussion has many symptoms some can physical headaches trouble with lights, bright lights you can also have emotional proobs depression anxiety. you can also have a trouble sleeping either too much or too little. so there's a big range of symptoms that can happen when you get concussion. you know clearly, you know when you're child's been injured you know when they've taken a hard hid to the head. you expect there to be a waiting period. i know, there rules about 48-hour window, right? >> well usually some present immediately after injury some can be delayed. >> so it's important to kind of watch your child and keep attention over the next couple of days after they suffer injuries. those symptoms can get worse or may disappear as day goes along. especially, we always hear to not let them sleep >> that's kind of a little bit of myth. what we try to tell parents you can keep an eye on your child through the night. but through the night. because that can actually make symptoms of concussion worse. >> if there's any issues of progression of symptoms usually symptoms present child may wake up no symptoms. so you can go through the night, check on the child make sure they are okay make sure they are breathing sleeping okay but to keep them up through night or just wake them up can make concussion symptoms worse. we talked about school work just quickly running out of time here. but let's talk about how it affects the them as it relates >> concussions can only affect your physically, but also emotionally and academically. because it can affect your concentration. affect your memory. going back to school can be a problem one things we try to do children accommodate return to school progression of return to school we also perform. intensive rehab, scary to think about it affects them that young. but dr. rodriguez we got to leave it there saddly. we'll so see you again. okay. thanks. to bright spot in even through all this rain jen epstein and charley belcher good morning. speaking of rain a little dean martin. i'm having a great hair day by way. i just want to put that out there. how does is it comparatively? thank you. thank you very much. 1501 north belcher road. belcher and belcher. that's right. and epstein. obel cher, belcher and epstein >> if weep that way. there are students in need classrooms in need and we are in the middle of our good day tampa bay back to school supply drive. absolutely amazed at the kindness of good day viewer and this weather. big generosity from our viewerswe love you all. look a that donation keep pouring in. pouring in. we'll hear all morning today, we can connect more.... do more. and all that more takes energy. at duke energy, we're doing more too. more innovative technology, like ways to fix outages before they happen... ...for more reliable energy every day. so no matter how much you do, we're always here.... ...with power for your life. introducing dunkin's new cold brew coffee, th an ultra-smooth, full-bodied flavor. discover the craft of cold brew today and keep on. ? ? hey, is this our turn? honey...our turn? yeah, we go left right here.
