downed trees and power lines across oregon and washington state. they predict winds will hit 5 than initially feared but strong enough to do damage. that's a lot of damage for 50-mile-per-hour winds, lindsay. >> lindsay: i'd say so. near the coast we talked about yesterday how there may be some near hurricane force, and they did see it. for them today while they still have rain and gusty winds, the brunt of the storm could have been worse and that passed through last night. so family in seattle can breathe a sigh of relief today. about this sunday afternoon? >> alcides: i hope so. no rain today? >> lindsay: no rain this morning, and we'll probably see showers this afternoon. hit-or-miss. a lot of showers in the pacific northwest right now. my goodness, look at them pile up from seattle to portland down to northern california. there's a secondary low spinning just to the west, and that will trigger several more inches of rain today. we're at 75 this morning, and we have a northeast wind at 5, which is typically a drier breeze. have risen or dew points, hence the fact it's not as comfortable out the door this morning. we wake up drier this morning, though. we have showers and storms on the east coast and a lot of storms well to the west. they're 74 miles to the west, and look where they're going. not our way. they move the opposite direction. at least we have a drier start. can't rule out a couple of spotty showers west of the big storms near cape canaveral make their way into eastern polk 74 in apollo beach and good morning pinellas park at 72. 71 at brooksville and wesley chapel is 73 and 73 in northport, 72 in frostproof. so our dew points are back in the green near 70. they'll stay up there through the work week, but looking ahead to next weekend, it looks great. much cooler, drier air on the way. today we have some more moisture, so as we look at the water happening aloft. this will spin east through the region today and enhance the lift in the atmosphere and give us a 30% rain chance but an isolated storm chance today as well. the east wind is back, still a little breezy in st. petersburg this morning. so plan on those breezy winds near the coast today. what we're tracking this morning are fewer clouds, maybe you saw the full hunter's moon. i'd love to show pictures this morning. we will watch the showers throughout the day. until then the clouds thicken a bit, maybe a stray shower between now and lunchtime, 83 by noon. we climb to 86 today, which is above our average high of 85. and then we'll introduce those spotty hit-or-miss showers at any time this afternoon. so as we spot the afternoon, here are the spot showers and by lunchtime we bring in heating and a few more develop and push west. here's dinnertime tonight. not everyone will see the rain, but they may be heavy as they push west into the evening the atmosphere some, so i would expect more sun mixing through the clouds and only a couple of spotty sprinkles. that rain chance on monday is less than 20%. in the tropics nicole still hanging on. it's a named storm for 13 days now. it became a hurricane again yesterday after we last spoke. it's moving east at 6, 85-mile-per-hour winds so a fairly strong category 1. by tuesday it loses tropical to sea. no other tropical threats, although a couple of models show low pressure east of the state. that would combine with the same front to cool us down over the weekend. 86, passing showers and storms today, maybe a few tonight but not as many especially overnight. 70 and mild through the late night hours. warmer with more sun on monday. a sprinkle or two at best should be dry monday and tuesday. on the water breezy at times with that east-northeast wind, so hanging on to chop. next tide is a low tide on st. pete pier. here's the seven-day forecast. low end rain chances that increase on friday ahead of the cold front. i didn't make a mistake there, 78 and windy saturday. saturday night could be the coolest of the season. i'm ready for it. >> alcides: in world news this morning, reports of more aggression against mirn sailors in the middle east. >> iranian-backed rebels in yemen have launched
