(dave no closed captioning is the presidential nominees faced-off in their third and ?final debate last night in las vegas. it was one of their last chances to appeal to undecided voters. reaction is pouring in this morning. the presidential nominees traded barbs on a variety of topics ... including abortion, the supreme court and trade. fox's caroline shively is live in vegas this morning... caroline, the debate was heated right out of the gate. ((take pkg))trt: 1:09oc:in his ((laura/dbx)) thanks caroline. and while many voters were watching last night's heated debate from home... regal cinemas screened the event all across the country... 25 theaters in florida alone. the list included the regal citrus park stadium in hillsborough county. it was free to attend... and people also received some free perks-- popcorn and soda. many people there say they watched the first debates from home... but this was a regal cinemas decided to air the final debate... after so many people responded to the screening of the second one. developing this morning... more proof and another reminder to always lock up your valuables. deputies say a group of thieves were able to hillsborough county... and they didn't even need a key. ((vanessa fox-13's shayla reaves is live this morning thanks, shayla. more accusations against a lakeland mental health counselor. psychotherapist anthony conti is charges of sexual misconduct after 4 more women came forward... bringing the total to 6 potential victims. all are former patients. conti is accused of making sexual advances towards them during counseling sessions... claiming it was part of a new treatment called "touch therapy." he was in court yesterday to face these new felony charges. an escaped inmate from polk county is back behind bars... but this time in pinellas county. it comes after he kidnapped a workcamp in bartow... and took off in a city vehicle. in less than 3 years... david ross would've been a free man. but on tuesday... bartow police say he put his freedom in serious jeopardy. police say ross... who was on a work crew...was taking a lunch break in mosaic park... when he took the unarmed guard hostage using only a small utility knife. they say he then secured the other 4 inmates inside... before taking off in a city work vehicle with the officer in towe towards pinellas county. the 4 other inmates - were actually the ones to go and seek help. the corrections officer was able to escape when ross stopped at a store hours later. he was serving time for battery on an officer and fraud... he's now facing new charges-- including armed kidnapping. the d-o-c is reviewing the more than a year after rapper kevin gates was caught kicking a fan on video... prosecutors are wrapping up the final details before heading to trial. you may remember this video... it was taken at rumors night club in lakeland september of last year. a fan reached out and touched gates' shorts. he then kicked her in the chest. the woman was knocked out and hospitalized. gates... who's real name is kevin gilyard... is charged with simple battery. today... a conference hearing will discuss any last a veteran got the surprise of his life at the worst possible time. when he went to file for unemployment... he found out that someone had been using his social security number. jason stambaugh wouldn't have even known someone was using his social security number... if he hadn't gotten fired. when he went to file for unemployment... officials said he had a job. in fact-- they say he worked 5 jobs this year. the one he was fired from... and then 4 more construction jobs-- in turns out.... someone has been giving those employers jason's social security number and working for them-- earning 10-thousand dollars this year. for 2 days... they've been calling authorities in hopes of cleaning this up. late last night... the state employment office finally got back to them... they're going to remove the jobs that weren't his. then... his eligibility for unemployment will be reconsidered. there's a new millionaire walking amongst florida lottery's "gold rush doubler scratch-off" game. alonzo cherry bought his winning ticket from this marathon gas station on bruce b downs boulevard in tampa. and because they sold the winning ticket-- the store will receive a two- thousand-dollar bonus. cherry paid just 20-bucks for the scratch off. he chose to take a one-time, lump- sum... bringing his total payout to 745-thousand-dollars. state officials are looking deeper into the train crash that killed a new jersey woman last month... including a new report pointing to a much bigger problem. plus... another crash investigation. new video shows the moment a bus slammed into an overpass... killing the driver. the investigation is over... but officials say they are no closer figuring out what went wrong. ?? halloween excitement is back at dunkin' with 2 dozen donuts for $12.99. drizzled, decorated, and all dressed up for the season, share the fun with 2 dozen donuts for $12.99. ...another anti-wrinkle cream in no hurry to make anything happen. neutrogena? rapid wrinkle repair works... ...in one week. with the... fastest retinol formula available. it's clinically proven to work on fine lines and... ...even deep wrinkles. ((laura in st. petersburg, the ?future of tropicana field will again be a topic of discussion today. the city is hosting another community meeting to look at options for the stadium's future. the city needs to come up with a plan... just in case the tampa bay rays decide to ?leave... and the chances of that happening seem pretty high. the rays have been wanting a new stadium for years... and have appoval to talk with hillsborough county and the city of tampa.. abou moving across the bay. that meeting is tonight at 6 at the coliseum. a mural honoring the pulse victims will be unveiled outside the nightclub later today. the canvas honors the 49 people killed... as well the survivors of the june 12th shooting. the public is invited to sign the mural... to show support for them as well. a street artist and fashion designer collaborated on the piece. it features rainbow colored hearts... and the words "i am... we are... let's be". day... it's to raise awareness about bullying in the lgbtq community. the event is at 11-30 tonight. ((laura)) immigration.. economy.. the supreme court.. debt.. and foreign hot spots.. last night - during the third presidential debate - hillary clinton and donald trump touched on each of these issues.((vanessa)) last night was definitely the most "topic-driven" debate we've seen from these two candidates. for 90-minutes, they went back and getting only two minutes each to answer a question. one of the headlines from the debate was when trump was asked if he would accept the results of the november eighth election.. he said he will take a look at it at the time.. and he will keep us in suspense. clinton responded.. that was "horrifying".. trump then went on to blast the clinton foundation as a, quote "criminal enterprise".. and of course - both candidates touched on the recent converoversies.. including several accusations from women against trump.. and runs:"trump: and you know bernie sanders he said you have bad judgement. you do and if you think going into mosul after we let the world know we're going in. all the people we really want, the leaders are gone, and if you think that's good, you do. john podesta said you have terrible instincts. bernie sanders said you have bad judgement. i agree with both."""clinton says: "at the last debate we heard donald talk about what he did to women. and after that a number of women have come forward saying that is exactly what he did to them. now what was his response? he held a number of big rallies where he said he could not possibly have done those things to those women because they weren't attractive enough not once, during the night, did clinton and trump shake hands.. now.. with just 20 days until election day - both candidates are focused on rallies.. and getting people to vote. trump will be focusing on three battleground states, in particular... ohio, north carolina and florida. a lot of people took advantage of the extension on florida's voter registration... it turns out nearly 64-thousand more people signed up to vote over the past week. nearly 37-thsa already been verified... the rest are still going through the process. that's not counting all the applications expected to arrive by mail either. the florida democratic party filed a lawsuit seeking to extend the deadline due to hurricane matthew. they're now asking a judge to order election officials to allow people to cast ballots during early voting... even if their registration hasn't been verified yet. hurricane matthew also affected thousands of ballots... they were mailed out and left in the rain and heavy wind-- some of many people evacuated mailed ballots were left out in their mailboxes in elements for days. volusia county residents can still get a replacement ballot mailed to them if the original was damaged. all they have to do is call the supervisor of elections. from the outside... this house looks like a regular family home ready for halloween... but new this morning... new port richey police say it was full of drugs. they served a search warrant there yesterday... it's on montana avenue. police say they found more than 2- thousand-dollars in cash... an xanax. as well as things like unused baggies, digital scales, and other paraphernalia. william napolitano and angelina ekdahl were both arrested. at least one person is dead... and 5 others injured... after a construction scaffolding collapse in downtown miami. a section of the framework fell from the top of this 50-story high-rise. fire rescue says the man who died was a bystander. he had a heart attack while trying to debris also landed on a car... sending the woman inside to the hospital. 2 construction workers were also hospitalized. 2 others were treated at the scene. the accident is still under investigation. a good day good deed out of sacramento this morning. a firefighter became a puppy's hero and the story is heartwarming. crewmembers from fire station 14 found this puppy on the side of the road sunday afternoon. she was cold, wet, and definitely in need of help. dried her off... and took her to an area animal shelter. the sick puppy will be up for adoption once she gets ride of her mange. she's been dressed in warm clothing to protect her skin. and while she's being well taken care of... firefighter mike thawley just couldn't let her go. he didn't want her to be alone... so he returned to the shelter to check on his new friend. he nicknamed her "chunkie"... and is thinking about having his family foster her. so hopefully soon "chunkie" will ((vanessa several bucs player returned to the practice field... and the cubs are back on top. fox 13's scott smith will have that and more in morning sports.((laura/ ((laura/ and a long-lost letter from a dead relative. how it ended up in a family's mailbox... more than a decade after their son's death. ?? (russell) nineteen-year- old aaron vickers was killed in a drive-by shooting in stockton in 2002. thanks to facebook, one of vickers' former teachers is sharing a piece of his life. (russell - in may of 2000, aaron vickers wrote a letter to his future self... it was part of a school assignment. the four-page and dreams... and was set to be read again in 2010. but vickers would never get that chance... someone killed him just three years later. with a promise to mail the letters to students, vicker's teacher turned to facebook to help find aaron's family... after learning the junior had died. the note, as you can imagine, was a welcome surprise to his family. ((take sot))"tears rolled down my face. it was all types of emotions happening at one time.""i felt like as she was reading the letter my son was ((russell/ perhaps the most surprising wasn't just aaron's hope for a family, but his profoundly optimistic and eerily accurate take on the country's political he mentioned in 10 years, we'll probably have a black vice president or maybe a woman would be president. ((laura/ scienti zika virus.... with hopes that the one country that's remained largely zika-free could provide some answers. that's coming up in about 20 minutes. plus... the cost of cancer.. it can be overwhelming for patients with the diagnosis. we'll tell you about resources available to help carry the burden after robert kearney: i fought for my country in kosovo and iraq, and i've been a republican all my life. but i'm the father of three girls. i can't stand hearing donald trump call women pigs, dogs, and bimbos...and i sure don't want my daughters hearing it. i want my girls to grow up proud and strong, in a nation where they're valued fought for. so, i'm voting for hillary clinton. hillary clinton: most of us know someone touched by cancer.. fox 13's linda hurtado looks at the cost of treating the disease.. especially if you find yourself uninsured and in need of expensive treatments to stay alive. "you did good."ted eckhardt is every man - worked all his life - paid his bills - loves life - loves his wife. he never expected to find working since i was 14 years old, paying taxes and doing what i was suppose to do, and now here i am. between jobs and out of insurance and wham!" diagnosed with cancer, needing expensive chemotherapy. : the number was $6,500 or more per session. and it started out at six sessions, then its nine, now its 12. 65 times, that is a lot of money - you know around 80 thousand dollarsa.cash." dana ekchardt says her family falls into a common gap - "we do have a house and a 401 k, like most folks. to get medicaid or medicare you have to be destitute or older. you can't just be 50 and worked your whole life." "you're on your own, essentially." dr jay wolfson - professor of public health with usf - says the eckerhardts and others like them have a number of options - starting with subsidized health insurance on the exchange.patients can also work with financial counselors. "we have a lot of resources with the pharmaceutical companies who provide compassionate drugs for patients who qualify financially. we were able to obtain some of those drugs for ted, which reduced his out of pocket cost." dana says financial counselors were able to reduce the cash cost from 6500 to 700 a treatment. : "we have a sliding scale discount fee, so based on their household size and income we are able to reduce their cost 25 - 35 - 45 percent." dr wolfson says patients who own their home or have other assests can leverage these against the cost of treatment, or if they have full life insurance policies, they can work out an advance payment on the equity beneficiary and then you can do what you wish with the money." dr. richard knipe, ted's medical oncologist, says he's never had to turn a patient away due to finances. : "we've always found a way to make it work, and i hope until i retire i am able to continue to say that." but if it gets so bad that patients have to choose between paying for a treatment and buying food, the florida cancer specialists foundation can step in and help with non-medical expenses. "we pay up to 1500 dollars per year per patient. it's not a situation where we pay a large sum of money, but it is enough to help that patient get over the hump of some financial difficulties." dana and ted are thankful for all the help they've received so far but still have to find 25 grand for radiation. they're thinking about reaching out to strangers by setting up a go fund me page.
