Its the responsibility of all of us to protect pregnant women and their developing babies. Reporter and this is all very concerning women pregnant or families thinking about having another child. But theres also some good news that came out today. And that a centers around the war that the state is waging against the zika virus. It looks like its slightly effective, isnt ya, and i tell you tonight at 6 00. More to fi this for sure. Lets bring in dr. Jo for perspective on all of this. You said at noon today that you do expect to see more cases in our area, so how concerned i think we should all be very concerned at this point in ti. Certainly we know already that about four out of five individuals who get zika infections dont have any symptoms, so there can be that low level kind much under the surface spread of this certainly. It doesnt mean it has to go further, go to more people or become that cluster that we are seeing now in miamidade and south beach and in winwood. You dont want to be that person that gets it. Be cautious and careful and to wear your deet, wear the long sleeves and try to clean up backyards and make our personal space as mosquitofree as possible. Some people dont have symptoms, but some do. Lets remind everyone of the symptoms that they should be looking for. One of the things is that they have this rash they talk about. Its a red rash, bumps. Ive talked to some people say it was between their fingers. There can be faefr. There can be this. Muscle pain, joint pain, fatigue. All of those things can occur. Kind of like a bad flu. The other thing is the eyes. The eyes look kind of blood shot. Its not like the pinkeye you expect with all the gunk you wake up or,e like red eyes. There can be a little bit of swelling ive seen in pictures beneath that white part of the eye. So all of those things might indicate that you have an infection. Again, i think its up to us, if infected, to talk to our doctor and get that test done, if they think its appropriate. At this point in time, the more people that we identify the more we can go out to their communities and take precautions, and we can, you know, spray if necessary and certainly test those individuals around them. Because were all exposed to mosquitos here. We all are. Thats our reality. Thanks. So were also keeping a close eye on the tropics. Croix and flew into the system and did not find the air mass around invest 99l is pretty dry, so for the time being dont expect much. When the storm gets up somewhere into the central bahamas, there will be literally no wind shear. Some of the warmest water on the planet is over the bahamas, and the european model has been going crazy with intensification. High pressure over the carolinas. That really is the key to the forecast. The highs stay strong and most models say it will. This way, because it runs into the high. So what it will probably do i mo to e west and northwest. If it intensifies, we could be looking at a landfalling hurricane some place along the east coast, most likely south florida depending on the models now. But anyplace up and down the east coast is still in place. The european model moves across florida and then becoming a major hurricane west of tampa bay. So thats the european, which we have high confidence in. Its also interesting to note that to buy into any of this and just watch how this plays out with really zilch to show you except make here, a weak area of low pressure southwest of us. Once again, as it always is, its the battle of the models. Well see how this o in the nextay or two, a wll update it on subsequent model runs.
