and drop you in your tracks. >> reporter: tough words from the sheriff after a strange incident this morning. 30-year-old daniel hall, a repeat offender, argued with his sister and left their home on a mission. >> he said i'm going out to get arrested. >> that 3 a.m. took him to the home of a pasco deputy and his canine. he said that he put his finger friends on the vehicle and started a small fire on some lawn furniture on the porch. >> as he lit it on fire, the fire is going. he knocks on his door. >> and with two dogs by his side, the deputy suspects there is more going on. >> this a ruse to get me out or someone comes in from the rear. >> no he stood in the yard until others arrived. >> he was a little off. he needs help and put on the right medications and give help. >> a operation gun box. it worked like this. agents went into specific neighborhoods and made buys of illegal guns and drugs and drought down traffickers in the operation. they focused their efforts on what the sheriff's office calls district 1 t is the northern part of the county from the sun coast east to 301. that area that you see at the top of the map in pink saw a 9% increase in gun crimes from 2014 to 15. they are hoping the undercover sting will reverse that. they confiscated 20 guns and a couple of rifles and 0000 worth of drugs. and they arrested 5 2 people, including some they call armed eight of them will be prosecuted in court where they can serve longer sentences. >> i pulled out the rap sheet of an individual we charged, it was 38 pages long. they are individuals who should be behind bars we'll do our part to make the community safer. >> one of the suspects has 50 arrests on the record and 19 felony convictions. another one, major brady has 38 arrests, 17 felony convictions. here they were again out on the street selling crack, heroin and guns. and the state attorney admitted that the buck stops with him and said his office has to more aggressively prosecute the drug dealers they will. they will go after enhanced sentences for those repeat offenders. >> a 13-year-old, 1 3-year-old girl is accused of stealing a van and leaving an amount of damage behind. it crashed into a brick wall and up into someone's yard. police say when an officer started following jade miller, she turned off the lights and crashed on a street that comes to a dead end. the vehicle was stolen from pasco county. parents pushing for a bill to require recess in schools scored a victory in tallahassee. legislation to require 20 minutes of recess a day for elementary school students passed on a vote of 112-2. that's in the florida house. a st. pete mother who traveled to the capital several times in support of the build said there has been no consistent policy on recess race on sunday set the front row with chase elliott and matt kenseth. and the great american race is do-or-die for some of the drivers here. so, they will -- the race will decide whether they get into the daytona 500 that include 33-year-old robert richardson, junior, who has not made the field here since 2011. he finished 38ths that year. nascar's system says 36 teams are guaranteed a spot. his team is not one. he is trying to be one of four open teams trying to make the race. and the highest finishing open team in each of the duals will make the grid. he was working on his farm in texas.
