after that tornado churned through the area. it toppled trees and littered the streets with debris. laura rodriguez continues our team coverage from the scene in delray beach. >> porter: we are at st. mary the virgin anglican church just off of atlantic avenue west of i-95. they have cleaned up very quickly heje, but let's look at some downed power lines.p that pole is completely tilted over to the left, but lucki power is back here at the church. >> i got the weather alert. said extreme danger delray beach. >> reporter: taking cover inside the tornado swept right through the middle of the courtyard. >> i heard this huge noise. i could feel the rain just beating. >> reporter: take a look at this man making a delivery for the bishop. his pants blowing in the nd. as the door opens, the patio furniture flies everywhere. >> it was hard to close the door with the wind trying to suck u u out. >> deeis all over. the furniture in here was broken. fence torn down. damage to the ro. >> reporter: across the street from thehurch the severe weather also uprooted a tree in derrick phillis yard. he heard a branch snap and quickly hid in the closet. >> i heard a roaring sound. i jumped up panicking. i looked out the window and saw heavy rain and then it was like darkness. >> reporter: a gas line near the tree caused some concern, but the line was shut off temporarily to avoid any issues. area also lost per for several hours. >> we're going to have to work even sunday to keep up with the ticket load. >> reporter: no injuries to report, but a big scare for all who witnessed the tornado. a weather event that could have ended much worse. >> we're okay. the church got some physical damage, but everybody's okay. >> i just thank god i made it through it and no damage came to the house. >> reporter: and the bishop tells me when he arrived here at the church it looked like a war zone. now they'y' hoping that insurance can cover most of the damage. reporting from delray beach, nbc 6 news. we're seeing a new view of the tornado that devastated rts of broward county. take a look at this. this view is from the turnpike moments after the twister roared through and cused accidents. and as cleanup begi from yesterday's storms, neighbors in coconut creek are forced to deal we are live in coconut creek with more. how is it looking today out there? >> reporter: yes, it's still pretty messy and quite bad out here. residents in coconut creek still cleaning up all that damage from yesterday's tornado. take a look at this fence. it is just completely destroyed and all mangled up. definitely lots to repair, but first take a look at some new video that captured yesterday's storm. >> it was terrifying when it was going down. >> reporter: those frightening moments captured on home surveillance video. yesterday's twister lifting up trees, umbrellas, chairs, and even a boat as that wind started swirling. >> we got maybe a minute and that was about it. we had about a minute. my wife went intohe closet. >> reporter: crews from public works and p pvate companies working around the clock, picking up debris and scattered branchs. landscapers out here taking i ran inside, shut the door, when i looked out the window my neighbor's boat has broken loose across the canal. >> reporter: her neighbor's boat got loose, floating over to this tree that fell in the canal behind her home. it was rainy again this morning with littleisibility out on the roads. >> what was that? >> reporter: this woman was in her home when that nasty weather blew in earlier today. thick tree branches landed on cars outside her home and one of them hit a power line. >> it hit the power line and start sparking up. that's why they're here. >> reporter: mother nature definitely left a lot to clean up. again, just a lot of damage out here as these residents had to face two days of some severe but thankfully there were no major injuries. live in coconut creek, nbc 6 news. and while the northern parts of south florida are dealing with tornados and heavy rains, farther south the rain brought flooded streets. >> reporter: hi. so many things can go wrong when it rains. this car right here is stalled in the middle of the street. these cars right here are tryingng to get through the water just to make it onto second avenue. there are plenty of condos down there. also some businesses and some homes. this is t only access. one resident asked me if w were here to cover this lakefront property. ithere are rain drops, the road floods. i'm surprised how that doesn't stop anybody from driving, biking, or walking through the water. little bit late. you're looking at other cars that did not stall. the woman's boyfriend had to come down here and try to push the car into a safe spot while they wait for a tow. >> always flooded. there's no drainage if you look around. ever since we moved into this ago. it's been flooded ever since. >> reporter: another problem area collins avenue between 17th and 18th. the rain and flooding just complicating things. this video actually is not the worse of it, but pedestrians typically have no way around it. we see people walk through the water and get soaked anyway. back out here live. car stalled right here. this road always a problem. neighbors coming up to us telling us they have complained many times to the city and obviously the problem has not been fixed. i'm surprised to see a lot of they take off their shoes and carry them into the building juu to get home. there's a car coming here. i'm going to send it back drugs were so extensive that we found some of the suppliers a a original sources of the contraband, like heroin, were coming from mexico. >> reporter: overall, authorities calling this a big get. news. a naples man who burned his face, throat, and lungs after his electronic cigarette ploded in his mouth is now filing a lawsuit tonight. about evan spallinger back in october. he's filing a lawsuit against the companies that manufactured and sold him the e-cigarette. his injuries are permanent and he needs constant care. the company has not responded to the lawsuit. all right. here in
