She is North Carolina at the Corcoran School of art and design. Her body was found bound and stabbed inside of an apartment on 14th street a week ago today. This was just a crime that really shocked the entire area as you said. Corrina mehiel was found tide up and stabbed to death along 14th street northeast just to give you an idea where that is very close to the h street corridor about a block or two away from there. Were learning this morning from d. C. Police that they have arrested a man 28yearold man and charged him with first degree murder. His name is he will hagoo tour ray no fixed address according to police. And apparently they were able to arrest him in the first place on a fugitive warrant from another jurisdiction. Details pretty limited at this point. As you all know there has been a widespread search for this man last week not only did they have a crime scene set up at the home for several days, they also were looking for some kind of sus suspect. There was a place just outside of the beltway in beltsville. There was kind of a Convenience Store 7eleven where they captured an image of a person of interest there. We dont know if this is the same person or how that image might be connect. Also remember, the vehicle they were looking for her vehicle. That was found over the weekend. So how were tying this altogether were not sure at this point. What we do know from police is that 10 30 they are planning to hold a press conference to brief us on what they can tell us, who this 28yearold man is. How he made may have come in contact with corrina. She was here temporarily working at the Corcoran School of art and design. She was last seen on sunday night. She had dinner with some friends and then her body was found tuesday it was i kind of an english basement of a home there on 14th street northeast where she was found. So thats the very latest. 28yearold man has been arrested charged with first degree murder in this case in we should learn more information around 10 30 this morning. Thats when the mayor and apparently the police chief are coming together. They a previously scheduled press conference and we are told theyre going to speak about this homicide investigation. Police say an officer responded to reports of a theft. This was in the 10,000 block of instead wick road in Montgomery Village around 11 00 last night. Once on the scene the officer reported that shots had been fired and that ems help was died at the hospital. We are told that the man did have a weapon but it was not a the Department Says it will review the officers body camera footage to piece together exactly what happened. Now according to Court Documents, filed by his attorneys object taped by the Washington Post, this 17yearold says that he and the 14yearold alleged victim in this case had been in touch via members messaging that sex was consensual. That they agreed to meet here at the school on that day which was a thursday morning, march 16th and had sex. That he claims was consensual. Now, he allegedly the teen says that the girl also sent him explicit photos of herself before the alleged assault. That again according to Court Documents in this case. The 18yearold charged in this case his name millan also charged with rape. He allegedly joined in on the assault in the boys bath raul at Rockville High School that day. That 18yearolds father 43yearold man Adolpho Sanchez reyes is now in jail in Howard County picked up outside his home last friday by ice and chacharged now with being in the country illegally much he is the man who paid for the Airline Ticket for Henry Sanchez millan the 18yearold charged with rape to fly from texas to maryland last summer after he was detained at the border trying to get into the United States from his native guat guatemala. Ultimately he was released. So the two suspects are still in jail being held without bond. The attorneys for the younger of the two mr. Montano, they want that bail reduced from a no bond status citing this alleged consensual affair here at the school. I will tell you obviously Montgomery County tom manger calls eight brutal attack. Some people wonder why you would want to write a book and wonder if you were profiting off the te you set the record straight saying you needed it to heal ton help other victims. Talk a little bit about that and why youve decided to right a followup book. I wrote scared silent because other organizations had asked me to put my book my story on paper in order to help other people. The police told me that i was the intended target, unfortunately, they didnt tell the general public. So many people did feel that i was cal tal liesing off of his excuse and trying to make a name for myself when i really wasnt trying to do that at all. I was trying to bring awareness to the 80 of victims who do not have physical scars to prove that theyre victims. And how difficult it is to get help once you start to speak out. And that really was your ch have physical scars but this man terrorized you and your children. Yes, maam. I was on i was in hiding for two years. I had to to change my name. I had to change my clothes. He had taken our children out of the country for 18 months. I was unable to get assistance in trying to find them, and then once i did find them, he tried to attack me in the courthouse. I came back over this way in hiding. I did gout go out anywhere. When i work i went straight to work and i came home. And unfortunately, he found me here by going to a fathers rights group in Washington State telling them that i kidnapped the children. They did a skip trace on me. Found me in this area and told him thats when he came to this area looking for me and found me. And began the rampage that was our 23 days of terror. Yes, maam. Since then youve worked to build yourself and your chi children. You give speeches, you talked about how you had to be strong and how you this second book, you know, some might wonder, what more is there to tell . Its an ongoing struggle for sure and we empathize. I wonder what more did you feel you had to say . Well, my last book ended with us not knowing whether or not john would be executed. So this book starts with the execution. But it also details what me and my children went through and our isolation in trying to create a new normal, in trying to find counseling for us that was i was unable to find. So i had to go was it people were unwilling to giving you counseling or it just wasnt available. Im trying to understand that part. Victim blaming was the high point of what we all had to go through. So we had people that were telling me, if you would have stayed with him, he just would have killed you. If you would have stayed on the west coast, then people on the east coast would still be alive. How dare you call you and your children victims when none much were you killed or hurt and how dare you bring drama into our there were people who were trying to take advantage of the situation from us, counselors who were trying to be famous by counseling my children. So i had to go to the library, get a book on counseling and learn how to counsel them myself. I started to speak out to help other women who did not have physical scars to prove that they were speaking at the military because theres a military component that deals with ptsd soldiers returning from a war soap. Because john had come back from the gulf war. Yes maam. You believe thats what sort of set him off on this spiral. I dont want to say that. Okay. Just because you youre diagnosed with ptsd doesnt mean that you will commit a criminal act. Fair. So he was diagnosed with ptsd but that was not the reason why he committed the crime that he did. Thats very fair to point that out. How are you and your chirp doing today . Im looking at you, um, youre saying that but im looking at i still see the pain. I cant imagine no. You do not see pain. No. Do you not see pain. I am situation. Me and my children. We can smile. Were smiling not to keep from crying were smiling because were actually smiling. My daughters attended the University One attended cleveland state. The other one Waldron Wallace conservancy. They both sing Classical Music in eight different languages. My son is a assistant manager at hill burg simon. We have no pain. We tackled all of our trig gores so do you not see pain. Im glad to hear that because i dont know that i can say the same thing if i went through the same situation but im glad to hear that. I want to say this. There are many people who feel that because they were victims of Domestic Violence that they will never heal, that they could never survive. Thats not true. Its a long journey. Its a painful journey. But you can get through it, and you can be happy and successful as long as you are willing to go back through that pain and come out on the other side. You wrote the book im Still Standing. Council member white has introduced a traffic and parking ti 2017. The objective to eliminate the late penalty for residents who are late as 30 daytime limit expires. Currently, the districts ticket fines double even if the driver is just one day late and expired meter fine doubles to from to 60 aft 30 days. If the ticket is not paid or contested. 150dollar red light camera ticket doubles to 300. The 300 speed camera ticket doubles to six hun dead dollars. Due date was simply too short because it depends when the ticket got in the mail and some residents could get notice with less than a week to go to pay that fine. Aaa mid atlantic says theres actually no evidence that doubling fines has improved traffic at all. If the rule changes d. C. Residents they be done with that 30 day fine. All right. So they still have to pate. Com but they wouldnt have to pay the fine. But drivers in maryland and virginia and other places anywhere else, youre out of the luck because the fine will still happen after 30 days. One day i would find myself in front of irrelevant rick clapton and betty davis and gregory peck and i was just a kid from long island. I used to play rock band versus billy joel wasnt fight. [ laughter ] if he couldnt get the gig, then if he didnt want the gig i got the gig. Any way, so i was a huge fan. So i was just as star struck as anybody else diet worst interviews in entertainment tonight history whats it like to be star, you know. I think youre selling yourself little bit short there. John, pretty much everything you tried to do you have become successful. You also comment at any timed for the olympic, the tour de france. You had pretty big news comment at any timing gigs but the constant thats been through your whole life has been your music. Child prodigy and now youre still composing and performing and thats whats bringing you to the dmv. Tell us about your concerts youll be doing here. Yeah its a little more unplugged than usual. When we play a place like walt trap or read rocks ten or 12,000 people but this is like four or 500 people, and so its just acoustic grand piano i may bring a couple of my guys with me. Its fun to do that because its i have really bad add everything is interest to go me. Stories about the olympics or stories growing up on, you know, on long island and rock bands and the entertainment tonight days that have many, many stories and so its all of that woven into the piano music. Youre pretty self depr deprecating too. Youre good at laughing at yourself. We were talking about this earlier this morning when you were on conan obrien and did you your secrets and one of them you said was that, you know, your music was your mistress which means that when its exposed to the public it brings you great shame and humiliation. But dude youre laughing all the way to the bank. Its been a great life, and my wife and i week and a half are coming on 25 years and we got three grandkids. Congratulations. We do all of our if youre married to italian woman that is congratulations because theres firearms around this house. It really has been a great run. Weve had a great time doing it. If you read those books the only way to create anything knew these days is to find one of the differentiating area and everybody had done love songs at night and fluffy and danny end with all this information out curator and so we started with four or five stations we gave it away for free and this was back 15 years ago. My wife is like, hey, when was the last time you got out of your pajamas everything is shot from here any way, and so its a lot of time for with family which i love. But i think the kids would like to get away every now and then know ive got to let you go, what do you consider your greatest accomplishment. Its the family thing. Its really understanding that my wife is high my partner and she wants the best for me, and im a very very aggressive guy when it comes to when it comes to just creating things and, you know, wanting to move forward and shes r really, shes the one that bring the kids over and just says come on pop pop which is my name drags me right out of the studio into the pool. So that and biggest musical probably red rocks that really changed my live. That enabled me to leave television back in 1994. And pursue your passion. We bring up some of the audience members so they can participate in it. Getting in shape for the show didnt take long at all for beckford. It will take me week, two weeks to get in top shape and be ripped some like this. Im a week or two out from it. Beckford does doing much modeling these days hes focused on acting and screen writing. Pretty much dont really do so much modeling any more. Its for a guy thats 18 now, you know, they dont want a guy thats my age any more. Its pretty much more acting and ive been writing a lot of screen plays lately. Well push that and then start he shared his thoughts on how the modeling industry has changed because of social media. I think its brought the business down as far as, um washington it used to be. Its just not the same. It definitely has changed the money aspect of what is coming into it. Because its overflowing now. When it comes to the idea of a super model, we asked if he thinks thats still achievable status. I dont think there ever be, you know, super models like that again.
