morning. here is a look at the satellite- radar. maybe a shower or two could pop up here or there. we see a little bit of precipitation showing up on this map just town to our south, also out to the west so can't rule out a shower. i think most of the that actually is not hitting the ground but you may see a brief shower this morning. maybe later today as well, a few more rain showers here and there. your forecast for today, another unusually cool day. today's highs in the mid- to upper 50s as opposed to the low 50s where they were over the weekend. we'll add a few degrees and it is not going to rain all day but there will be some periods where we'll see some showers here and there throughout the day. that is the latest on the weather. more coming up in just a little bit. stick with us for that. >> thank you. let's get a check of traffic. i'm sure things are picking up out there. how it is looking? >> good morning to all of you. over the weekend, they've closed that left hand exit from the inner loop of the beltway to exit westbound on 66. so that left hand exit is closed until further notice. all of that is part of that hot lane zone work and you will find you have to use the right hand exit to head from the inner loop to head outbound on 66. if you are on 66, no problems coming in from manassas. southbound 270 good to go out of rockville. lanes are open. you are at speed headed out towards the lane divide. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. >> thank you. the amanda knox murder case, at peel case back in session. this is a live look right now. you are peeking in on what is happening in italy. a verdict is expected later today. the 24-year-old has addressed the court in a final plea of her innocence before the jury went into deliberation. knox and her boyfriend were convicted of killing her british room nate in a sex- fueled attack back in 2007. week two in the trial of michael jackson's from begins later today. conrad murray is accused of administering a lethal dose of a powerful anesthetic to the singer. paramedics testified murray insofar told them he administered propofol. murray is facing up to four years in prison. a second week of testimony begins today in the murder trial of a fairfax woman in her granddaughter's death. prosecutors rested their case after showing a videotaped confession in which she said she killed the little girl to get back at her son-in-law. another big story we are following, the return of the high court. >> the new supreme court kicks off this morning. this year, the justices will handle several cases regarding individual rights. stacy cohan has a preview. >> the supreme court has quite a busy session ahead of them filled with cations that are very high profile but it is the one case which they have not yet committed to hearing that is drawing the most attention here into washington. many of the supreme court justices took part in the extraditional red mass. it is a tradition for judicial leaders to pray for wisdom and this year, they will certainly need it. >> you have both the states that are challenging the law as well as the administration itself telling the supreme court you need to decide this issue now. >> tom dupree says it is a good bet the justices are under pressure. >> i think the likelihood of supreme court review has increased and i think all of these factors together make day pretty difficult invitation for the supreme court to turn down. >> the court has agreed to hearing arguments about whether or not police can track suspects with gps device without first getting a warrant. also, immigration is on the table. one big issue, whether or not illegal immigrants who were brought here as children should be deported when detained by law enforcement. with regard to the health care tea bate, there was some who have called for two of the justices to recuse themselves due to personal connections. i'm stacy cohan. back to you. engineers will be back out on the washington monument as they continue to check for damage. then they will head to the national cathedral to check for damage there. the engineers and architects with specialized climbing skills will survey the north and south towers on the wisconsin side starting a week from today. redskins now, 3-1 going into the bye week after beating the rams on the road. skins jumped out to a 17-0 lead with a touch downpass from santana moss. torain's 135 yards on the ground and the skins defense were the stars of the game. they then let the rams back into the game. they held on for the 17-10 win. a tv icon signs off after some 33 years. more on andy rooney's last regularly scheduled appearance. two people were stabbed in northwest d.c. last night. we have the latest details from police. that is coming up next on fox 5 morning news.
