oh, that's good. not so bad out there. good morning. i'm steve chenevey. >> i'm maureen umeh. welcome to fox 5 morning news. talking about the weather out there. it is a beautiful morning, a lot different from yesterday and we're grateful for that. it will be a beautiful day today as well. as steve just said, a great day. we heard your requests and that is what we're bringing to you. some folks in the 30s again. out to the west, 39 degrees at dulles airport. harrisonburg, 35 degrees. here, closer to home, it is 47 in the district. 45 in baltimore and 43 in fredericksburg. here is a look at the satellite- radar. you can see plenty of stars out there. there are some clouds that are going to come through. but to be sure, today will be a mostly sunny day. some clouds pass through during the morning hours and then lots of sunshine for the bulk of the day. forecast for today looks like this. lots of sunshine, comfortable temperatures, just a little bit above normal. look for a high of about 69 degrees in town. i'll have more details coming up in just a little bit. >> with details on the road conditions, let's check in with julie wright. >> good morning to you all. so far, so good, no incidents reported if you are traveling northbound i-95. the crash now cleared so our lanes are open if you are traveling in the main line headed out of woodbridge. 395 headed out towards seminary seminary road, easy right for you. you will find southbound 270 rolling at speed. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. breaking news to start this 5:00 hour this morning. there has been an arrest in a deadly shooting inside a busy shopping center. it happened at a barbershop along belle view boulevard in fairfax county. let's get to stacy cohan lifl on the scene with -- live on the scene with the latest. >> the suspect turned himself in around 11:00 last night. he is 44 years old of the 7800 block of heritage drive in annandale. he did turn himself in. he is charged with murder. police say the suspect entered the barbershop around #:00 yesterday afternoon, guns ablazing, started firing. two people were hit, one killed. 39-year-old le hoang was killed. the other person is expected to survive. the shooter was apparently a former employee of this barbershop and that surprised the son of the shop owner. >> no motive, no reason, no grudges that i know of. >> he walked right past your mother to shoot these two guys? >> yeah, my mom usually has good relations with him. came by our house often. we wouldn't have expected it. >> reporter: this is normally a very quiet shopping cent are. apparently several merchants that work nearby saw the shooting and rushed in to try to help. it was too late for the 39-year- old victim in this case. so far once again, we know that the suspect has turned himself in with a charge of murder. we should have more coming up later on fox morning news. back to you. new this morning, a call for help to found a missing teenager. her picture is on your korean right now. this is 16-year-old deshante herring. she was last seen in her home in the # # hundred block of piney branch road tuesday night. she is in need of medication. if you have seener, you are asked to call police. montgomery county police believe they may have caught a man involved in a rape 30 years ago. police tracked down christopher chamblin. he has been returned to montgomery county as police are now looking for other possible victims. an attacker still on the run. fairfax county police say a man sexually assaulted a 62-year- old woman. they say she was helping take care of a friend on waterlily court. police say they are not sure if the taxer was wearing a mask but did say his face was covered enough that the victim was not able to help them put together a composite sketch. votes aimed at fixing the financial mess. senate and house voting today on the deal agreed to last friday night. a stopgap spending bill runs out tonight and tomorrow, the house is also voting on a long- term budget plan that cuts deficits by $6 trillion. in a speech yesterday, the president laid out his own proposal for cutting deficits but republicans are criticizing it for relying on tax increases. >> nothing serious about a plan that claims to reduce the deficit by spending a trillion dollars on tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires. >> we don't believe lack of revenue is a part of the problem so we will not be discussing raising taxes. >> the president's proposal is to cut $4 trillion over the next 12 years. new information involving a fox 5 investigation. it will be at least another 30 days before we find out if the university of the district of columbia takes any action involving its president, allen sessoms and his travel expenses. that is according to testimony from a d.c. city council meeting yesterday. back in february, our investigation revealed sessoms' pricy trip. an internal audit was launched and some of the things found in that audit, travel authorization forms were incomplete or incorrect and that some original receipts are missing. another air traffic controller accused of being asleep in the tower. up next, hear what the faa is doing about it this time. plus video that has one dad in trouble with the law. very disgusting and disturbing video in the world today where we have the violence. >> did dad go too far? stay with us. we'll talk about it. the search for more victims of a serial killer in new york has moved from land to sea. police are now using drivers to search waters off of long island. a total of 10 bodies have turned up along the beach highway since december. the four who have been identified were women working as craigslist escorts. police aren't sure whether all of the 10 cases are linked but they do believe they are dealing with a serial killer. they says they are not likely connected to the 2006 deaths of four atlantic city prostitutes. it apparently happened again and another air traffic controller suspect penned for allegedly fall ago sleep on the job. the faa says the controller did not respond to repeated contacts from the pilot of a medical plane drying to land or there airport staff. it is the fourth incident involving sleeping controllers this year. the faa has since announced it will add a second air traffic controller to midnight shifts at the 27 airports around the country. a florida father is facing charges for yelling violent phrases to get his son to fight. police say he was caught on tape yelling at his son to, quote, punch his eyes out and slam his head on the ground. >> very disgusting and disturbing video in the world today where we have the violence that we do and you actually have parents now encouraging their children to go out and engage in this type of violence was disturbing to the people that reported it, very disturbing to investigators and as well to the community. >> the fight was over a girl. video of the teen fighting has gone viral on the internet. neither teen was hurt and they shook hands at the end of the fight. a show of force at some area metro stations. up next, a push to crack down on crime. more trouble for the mayor of one small local town. first, scandal and now an eviction. is this late incident more about politics, less about money? >> no, not every race. no but i'm training for th half marathon. i got to bump it up. >> good for you. >> you sure you don't want to come with me. >> i'll be there watching. >> you'll be holding the sign that says go, julie, go. >> right. >> coming in out hytstown, lanes are open on 270. we are still looking good. no problems to report off of i- 70. the repairs to that sinkhole have been completed. we talked about that yesterday. westbound u-70 to south street. we had that huge hole in the roadway. the roadway reopened once again. no incidents to report if you are traveling in virginia off of northbound 395. easy commute coming from duke street headed out to the 14th street bridge. check out the ride coming inbound on route 5. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. fox 5 monitoring metro. prince george's county police team up with metro transit officers for operation blue tide. tide stands for terrorism identification and deterns effort. but this time the focus was crime prevention. prince george's stations have some of you the highest crime rates in the system. riders are urged, if they see something, say something. the mayor of brentwood is out on the strait. mayor xavier montgomery wright evicted from the home she rents. >> this comes from the accusation that she misused a town debit card for perm expenses. beth parker has the story. >> reporter: it is moving day for brentwood mayor xavier montgomery wright, not a move she planned though. her belongs were piled on the front lawn of her home. the mayor jumped in a volvo and quickly took off. her landlord says there was nothing quick about how this eviction happened. >> i've been very sympathetic, very. i've tried every avenue to work with her, period. >> reporter: he says montgomery wright sews him $7,400. here are the court documents that back that up. >> when you are sitting this making mortgages that someone is not paying the rent, you're taxing food off my table. >> reporter: as for her title of mayor. >> you pay your bills just like anybody el. i don't care whether you are mayor, president, doesn't matter. you got to pay your bills. >> reporter: that is what the bent wood town council told the mayor too. that is the mayor in her official role. back in march, the council voted to censure her for unauthorized use of a town debit card. there is an audit under way. at issue, a $300 plane ticket and $400 cell phone bill. montgomery wright did not speak with us today but in the past, she has denied any wrongdoing. george denny was mayor of brentwood for 18 years and spent another eight years on the council. montgomery wright's eviction comes just a few weeks before her upcoming election. >> you think there is politicking going on here? >> i don't have a clue. you don't stoop to those kinds of things. when i ran for of his, i always ran for the office and not against somebody. >> reporter: the mayor's opponent in that may 2nd election is former councilmember roger rudder. we saw lots of his signs around town but could not reach him for a comment. to be clear, the mayor has not been charged with any crime. we are told that, in her role as mayor, she earns $300 a month but that the town has been deducting money from those paychecks to try to recoup the $2,400 unauthorized cell phone bill. soy the nation's first internet legalized gambling and it is right here in our area. >> we'll explain the rules and tell you what you will be allowed to play online and when. back in a moment.
