Details on that in just a minute. Tucker, thank you very much. Our big story continues to be the breaking news overseas. An explosion at the u. S. Embassy in turkeys capital. Two people were killed, at least another wounded. Emergency vehicles remain near the embassy at this time. The u. S. Ambassador to turkey says a guard at the embassy gate was killed in addition to the bomber. The explosion did not appear to do damage inside the embassy. The compound is located in the same neighborhood as the french, german and several other embassies. Also breaking this morning out of new york, where former new york mayor ed koch has died from congestive heart failure. He had been in intensive care since wednesday, suffering from fluid in his lungs and legs. Koch served as mayor for three terms from 1978 through 1989. He is credited with saving the city from financial ruin. Ed koch was 88 years old. Checking our other top stories, former Culpeper Police officer heads back to court this morning, where a judge will decide whether to declare a mistrial in his case. Daniel Harmon Wright was convicted earlier this week of killing an unarmed woman last year. His attorneys claim the jurors used a dictionary to help them define the word malice. They say that shows the jurors were confused about instructions given to them. The hostage situation in alabama enters its fourth day now. A man has been holding a 5year old boy since tuesday afternoon. Neighbors identify the captor as 65yearold jimmy lee dykes. Police say he and the boy are in an underground bunker equipped with a tv and electricity. The boys mother says the child has aspergers syndrome and hdhd. Police are getting medicine to the boy through a pipe. Metro issues a public apology for wednesday evenings gridlock on the green line. Thousands were stranded. The agency says there were problems with a piece of equipment and a human error when crews tried to fix it. The power outage was the result of an emergency button being hit. Metro apologized to customers for having to wait so long for the problem to be fixed. What time is it game time what time is it game time. Almost is. Thats right. You make a great point, because this isnt how it used to be, but now, they get multiple views with the internet and all of that. Absolutely. With people on screens and devices. No longer 30 sec spots, minute, minute and a half, mini stories. People like the entertainment factor. Some companies preview their ads online. Does that benefit them . Absolutely. To have your ad being spoken about, a week or two, and sometimes in one of our clients case, a month, that investment, you cant actually pay for. Lets jump in. We have several we want to show. The ad so far thats attracted the most attention is for volkswagen. Apparently some people were upset about it. I hate mondays. Yeah, those are the worst. No worries, man. This one, its kind of a parody of different movies genres in a way. What theyre trying to do is create content that takes you online. Its trying to engage the audience. They did that last year with the polar bears and was successful. At the end of this, you decide, the audience decides who they want to win. Later in the game well see the winner . Yeah, at the end of the game they show the winner. And when you get online, they create a content where you can sabotage the racers. Theyve made it more engaging online than just watching the video. Very interesting. Interactive. Doritos, theyre also going interactive, in that they had a contest. I think they did this before, where amateurs can submit. Absolutely. Doritos does the crashing the super bowl. They have users submit great stories. This year they put out five videos in the pregame. And youll get to decide which ones get to be in the super bowl and youll get to vote. Lets look at one of the amateur created ads. Can you play with me . Sweetheart, id love to. But the guys are outside waiting for me. I have doritos. Steve, what is the holdup . Its all about the comedy. It really is. It is. This year youre seeing the trend around life moments. Something vw did a couple of years ago. They want family, funny, wholesome. Something thats emotionally that you can resonate with. Very good. Those are the dorito ads. Audi, ive not seen this one yet. In audi spot is one of my favorites. Its about a boy in high school going to the prom. His dad gives him the vehicle, but hes going by himself. And hes sort of a little upset. At the moment he gets in the vehicle, he says, you know what, im going to do this. He gets into the prom, and youll see what happens. Lets take a look. Look at you. So dashing. Come on. Nowadays lots of people go by themselves. No, they dont. Hey, son. Have fun tonight. Back against the wall all right. Can we see the payoff . I want to stick with this. Hey [ laughter ] not what you expect. Its a great spot. Bravery says it all. But thats the kind of emotion you want when youre driving a vehicle, and audi attributing it to that, their brand to that is successful. Go daddy, every year, want to see more, and go online and looks like its going to be a crazy xrated thing. Well show it. Its a different style for them. Tell me why theyre going this route . Well, its a depart our from their brand. I think its risky. Theyre completing against other brands like vw and doritos and such. Before they were known for the controversial ad and always would talk about go daddy. Well see how successful it is if people still continue to talk about it. It was a distinct strategy they had prior to this launch. Its questionable. Its funny, because a lot of people criticized some of their previous ads for being too sexy. But i suspect some will be disappointed. Thats how they built their brand, with that strategy, hitting a specific target audience. I think theyre trying to change their image.
