>> well it's funny, i think some people do that as a sport or a family tradition. what generally happens is people start shopping online and create their game plan and that is smart to do. because just comparison shopping, whether you ultimately buy online or offline, can save you 35% per item. i also think this year, it's not just what you buy and when you buy it, it's how you purchase it. so figure out how you're going to pay? are you going to use a discover card where you earn cash back? do you have a bank of america card, they have a new rewards, earning 1% cash back that you save on your next statement. or a cite called shortcuts.com and they keep a tally of the cash back you are earning and three months later you get a check in the mail. so be smart about the currency you are using. >> when you talk about the stores with the deep discounts, what about online shopping? can we stay home and wait until midnight? >> it's a combination of both. and if you have to ship something, i think it's a no- brainer. especially now while free shipping is widely available. those two words, free shipping, sing the most noticed -- single biggest words. i have to absorb the shipping. make sure you look for the coupon codes because the retailers very smart and they are dealing with roughly the same economy as last year so we'll not see 80% off like we saw in 2008 when they overordered and you have to raise your hand. retail 101, offer the best price you need to purchase but to lower. so if you don't need free shipping, they won't sticker your catalogue with free shipping. more you act like a bargain bee, the better you will do. >> there is a whole science to this. and are there sites to compare prices and not go for the first thing because you think that's such a good deal? >> sure. pricegraber.com is a shopper comparison site. and if you are at the store and you have the item at the store and you wonder if you could do better down the street or online, type in the upc code, the 9 digit number above the bar code, right on your smart phone it will compare prices for you to make an informed decision on the fly. >> i love that. regina lewis, with aol. talking about black friday deals. maybe i'll jump into the fray this year. >> be sure to join us tomorrow when regina will tell us how to get the best cyber monday deals. >> all about the shopping. well as you head out to the stores this morning or tomorrow, we want you to share any black friday deals that you find out there, especially if you find a good one that you want to pass along after you have gotten yours. you can let us know on our facebook page by searching fox5 morning news, no space between fox and the number 5. and also tweet us the deals by using hash tag fmn black friday and you can see it there on the screen and we thank you for sharing. the american student convicted of murder in italy is getting a second chance to prove her innocence. the details next when we check on some stories making headlines. and he was once one of the most powerful men many congress and now facing jail time. more on the conviction of tom delay. fox 5 morning news continues after the break. it's 9:15. and first here is the trivia we have. which part of the now traditional thanksgiving meal was not served during the original thanksgiving feast known as the harvest festival?
