But it is continuing and we will see this tapering off tonight but not before you do get a little look at the last little shout of winter. Everything in pink has a little bit of the mix. Its all going to continue to move through tonight heading off to the northeast. Our overnight temperatures will be in the 30s and right now it is 39 degrees. Weve got a light northerly wind at about 10 miles per hour. As this tapers off tonight as i said t g temperatures, especially into the early hours of tomorrow morning. Now i do anticipate seeing this tapering off before dawn at least. Right now its 39 degrees at dc, 40 at quantico, 37 at culpeper, 39 at winchester this hour, baltimore at 37 and thats the same for frederick. So your overnight lows into the 30s. In some areas we will be flirting just below freezing as you can see to the north of us, where weve got some low 30s and 29s where youre seeing the snow right now. But its light in nature and only accumulation will be agrassy surfaces. No shoveling here. 33 degrees your overnight low. It will all start to taper off. Weve got a light wind pushing in. The winds will change for your monday. Weve got some strong winds to talk about. We will have sunshine and drier conditions. But the good news is, yes, it has finally arrived. Even though it doesnt look like it or feel like it right now. But that will change with my those details a little later. Fox 5 is in Prince Georges County where people gathered at the scene of the shoot out. And detective colson was mistaken for a suspect and killed by friendly fire. How officer colson was remembered tonight. Reporter one week after a shootout that happened here outside of the Third District Police Station in Prince Georges County, hundreds of people gathered for a candle light vigil. And at exactly 4 30, the moment the attack began, they hold a moment of silence for fallen detective jacai colson. Somber moments outside of the Prince Georges County Third District Police Station. The place where a 28yearold undercover detective was killed. Detective colsons family joined his Law Enforcement family wi candles in their hands, and tears in their eyes, they prayed. Its day to day. You know, you hear this all the time, people say hes the best guy in the world. But genuinely the nicest guy in the world. Reporter police say 22yearold michael ford opened fire on passing cars outside of the station in an effort to lure officers into a gun fight. Something he accomplished. And something that cost 28yearold detective jacai colson his life. Colson was killed by friendly fire, because he was mistaken for a suspect when he tried to intervene in the shootout. Its truly like losing a brother and a sister. Theres a whole range of emotions that we go through. But when we do remember ceremonies like this are very important for us to come out and participate. It helps with our healing process. Reporter this womans husband was one of the responding officers to the she says being a Police Officers wife is now harder than ever. Its very scary. I dont want him out of my sight. I wish he could just jump into a new career easily. This is where his hard is. Know that we will never forget. Wrap your arms around one another. Together as a family and a community we will get through this. Reporter services for detective colson will happen over the next few days. The family has asked that his funeral remain private. Reporting in Prince Georges County, alexandra limon, fox 5 local news. And flags across indiana are flying half staff to pay tribute to a sheriffs deputy killed in the line of duty. The deputies were attempting to survey warrant. When the two deputies knocked on the door of the mobile home, no one responded so the went inside. Thats when the suspect opened fire. Reporter deputy carl kuntz was one of our family. These people standing with me, they are his family. And we thank you very much for the time to be able to tell the public about carl and that carl will be missed. A s. W. A. T. Team returned fire and he died. New information about catherine hoggle. She is being treated at a psychiatric hospital. After a judge determined she was incompetent to stand trial but today the Washington Post says she has tried to escape at least eight times. Her children have not been seen since september of 2014. She was charged with neglect, obstructing justice. We are watching history unfold no cuba tonight. President obama and his family are now in havana. Hes the first sitting president in nearly 90 years to visit the island nation. But this is all going to move through tonight and start to taper off by the time we get to just before dawn. So its not going to be sticking around for a long extended period of time, but just enough to be a little bit of nuisance. The good news is its happening overnight and not during commute. Heres where we have the rain and the snow mixed together, we have the rain and light snow to the north but the good news is also, im happy to say good news, because its going to be accumulating and has accumulated mainly on grassy surfaces and surface temperatures are just a little too warm for it to cause an issue. There will be the odd spot here and there where you might have a little bit of ice but its not wide spread at all. So rain and some snow mix, possibly weve already seen it north and northwest of dc but no accumulation as i mentioned, tapers off in the overnight hours and lingering early predawn i cant rule out a sprinkle or so but then it will be out of the way and weve got some sunshine by the time we get to the afternoon tomorrow and most of monday. The cdc will begin distributing the tests to qualified labs within the next two weeks. The tests will not be available in hospitals or through primary care doctors. The cbcs latest numbers report 258 americans have contracted zika. The virus is considered especially dangerous for pregnant women as it has been linked to rare birth defects. The navy is paying for research into an app to screen for autism. Researchers say facial expressions can indicate the presence of autism, ptsd and several other disorders.
