story and has new details tonight. >>reporter: top brass in prince george's county say that report you mentioned absolves them that the it is now case closed. however, there are questions about how the investigation was conducted, who was interviewed, who was not. the biggest question now will there be another investigation by the state with new evidence and whistleblowers coming forward? fighting back against corruption claims, prince george's county schools gave us this report. it says a year ago the us department of education got a whistleblower tip alleging the ceo of schools was forcing educators to change grades to boost the graduation rate. in december a representative from the maryland state department of ed was sent to investigate. she met with ceo dr. kevin maxwell and says she asked him to identify others with whom she could talk to. in january she spent several hours interviewing maxwell and four brought in. none of them recalled any complaints that grades had been changed. the investigator says she found no wrongdoing and the case was closed. i think that prior investigation actually makes this because the superintendent did not notify the board that we were under investigation for something so serious. dave murray is one of four board members calling for the state to come back and investigate new claims of fraud and manipulation of student records. i've heard it the from people at all levels , from teachers to parents to the students themselves. dr. maxwell and the school board chair immediately fired back denying the allegations. we trust and believe in our students and our staff and believe that when all is said and done we'll find out that the students who graduatedded because they worked hard and they were supported well by their administrators. the majority of the school board wrote this letter questioning the motive of their colleagues. it's unfortunately it's outside the organization and we have to spend time to reverse these allegations. it's unfortunate. i know you said reverse the allegations but shouldn't you say look into the allegations? we have, in the last year, msde had a whistleblower call and they checked it out and they investigatedded. did they talk to teachers and guidance coins losser and staff in that investigation. >> i believe they talked to the higher level staff members and -- >> district level staff. >> district level staff. >> murray says the response from the rest of the board speaks to why he wanted on go straight to the 207. >> that really gets back to the entire point which is i think we're more concerned with look ing good than being good. they wrote their claiming the facts. if we're really having an open mind we should wait for the evidence to come out before drawing a conclusion? a. we reached out toed the maryland state department of ed asking about the prior investigation and whether they'll launch a new investigation, but for now the department is refusing comment. also not talking ceo dr. maxwell . we have been requesting an interview with him since last week. governor larry hoag april is out of the country but we are asking to speak with him when he's back in town. i also want to mention that today a group of high school principals issued a statement saying that the accusation of fraud are insulting to professionals who have dedicated themselves to educating students . live tonight, lindsay watts, fox5 local news. >> there is new reaction tonight from the family of a 17 year old muslim girl murdered in fairfax county. the family of nabra has in
