"fox5" lauren demarco is live at reagan international with the story. lauren. >> tony all quiet here at reagan national tonight you have to imagine this horrific attack in ft. lauderdale has ripple afets and it's unsettled for passengers nationwide. of course you cannot carry a gun marshall trying to do that yesterday. you can travel with a legal unloaded fire am as long as you have the proper documentation and is that the what happened in ft. lauderdale we're learning esteban santiago got off the plane and then retrieved his gun in the bag at baggage claim and that's where he carried out the attack. i spoke with an airline expert for more on how it all played out. >> this is really more like a shooting anywhere else in a mall or somewhere. because there's really not much you could have done to prevent this with regulations or what you could imagine. >> he was honorably discharged and had concealed carry permit and recent lid visited fbi saying isis infiltrated his mind and was forcing him to watch videos. how does someone like this, how are they able to get a gun on to a plane? >> yeah, well, it's really all part of the broader gunon debate really. not just an airline question. but a question, how does somebody like that have a gun to begin with? if you have a gun and declare to the airline and put in checked bag not carry on you can carry it. >> why is he not on a no-fly list. >> that's a good question. if he's allowed to fly and allowed to carry a gun well then this is hard to prevents. but, whether he should have been traveling at all, especially after what we're hearing about what he had said approaching fbi, that is a good question. >> at reagan national tonight we saw heavily armed officers and nothing out of the norm. a spokesperson nor the washington metropolitan airport authority told me in a statement they constantly evaluate security conditions and devrments to haep sure safety. and back out here live you look at departures board there. two flights for morning to ft. lauderdale already cancelled and oneen says on time. we'll have to see what happens there. at last check they're not having flights depart in ft. lauderdale. that's the latest here at reagan national back to you in the studio. >> fox5 is on snow patrol. a storm dumped two feet of snow take a look that in parts of new york. they're expecting more snow this weekend. in the meantime winter weather is coming our way and the goch for already declared a state of emergency. gwen gwen is standing by on what we can expect this weekend, gwen. >> we're talking snow and cold and we're talking wind that bring a significant wind chills by the time we get to sunday. the weekend is full of winter weather. let take a look we'll show what you is happening now on we keep an eye on a developing storm system. that brings us snow in the overnight hours up the mid atlantic and impact part of our viewing area. some more than others depeing on where you are located in tells of accumulations. we're under winter weather alerts currently. winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories, and wind chill adv the wind chill advisories for higher elevation where's it feels like anywhere from minus 20 to minus 30 and winter weather advisories that includes the d.c. corridor and areas to our east and south east under winter storm warnings. here is a look at some of the projected totals we have. 4 to 8" for south and southeast. including st. mary's, calvert and parts of central and southern delaware. to 4" for corridor west of that and 1 to" d.c. corridor and norm, northwest we're talking dusting up to inch. all this is expected to move into our area by the time we get to about the 1, 2:00 hour tonight and won't be out of here until the afternoon hours late in the day of tomorrow. we'll have more details in the full forecast and of course, 7 day coming up, shawn. >> thank you, gwen. >> tonight, crews are on standby to clear the roads once that winter weather starts to move into our area. now. tisha lewis continues coverage from arlington. tisha lewis are folks concerned about the coming winter weather? >> yes. >> exactly. >> you got our attention tonight, gwen, you said the word snow and everybody was >> because we have not had any major snow at all this season so far. not everyone will get major snow. but we will all see something pretty much anyway. we have cold. we have wind. wind chills to talk about. you name it, it's definitely winter buffet for sure. tonight it's cold outside. we don't have anything happening currently. that will soon change once we get into the overnight hours and that's when we'll start to see snow moving its way in. now, primarily we'll see it east and southeast of us. that's where the main heaviest amounts of accumulation will end up being and once again i mentioned cold. temperatures only in 20s and 30s and by the time we even get to sunday night we're talking teens for overnight lows out there. single digit wind chills for sunday morning as well and that's dangerous conditions for you. we'll ask you to be very careful and really away of all the conditions over this weekend. we'll see rise in temperatures and we'll be into the 50s all over again. but not for the next couple days or so. take a look. here's our map. the storm system is starting to develop over the southeast as it impacts areas up and down the sea board this weekend and there will be awful lot of issues for travel delays and things of that sort. hazardous road conditions for untreated surfaces these are all things i want you to be aware of if you venture out. warnings and advisories we have them. winter storm warning for areas east and south this is where greatest impact will be and we go more west. winter weather advisory quite an area here north of baltimore all the way down to norm of charlottesville and then northwest. wind chill advisory in effect. where winds kick in single digit temperatures and wind chills factors minus 20 to minus 30. here's eye look at accumulations which really correlates very much with where we see warni in effect. 1 to 3" d.c. corridor and dusting an inch west and 4 to 8 we get greatest impact over st. mary, calvert, central and well southern areas of delmarva. timing for you once we get to overnight hours, 2 a.m., 5 a.m., look at this 8:00 in the morning and midday we start to see it pushing its way out by the time we get to 4, 5:00 it's all the way off east again. so just be aware of all this if you have plans for tomorrow. overnight lows into the 20s. teens north, northwest and highs for tomorrow not much better still in 0s. low to mid 20s pretty much everywhere. cold air will be stick around with significant wind chills once we get into sunday, 7-day forecast there's warmer air right there coming in by hump day. back to you. >> thank you, gwen. >> all righty. what's going on down here?
