website to be the new ceo. and senior advisor, kelly ann conway, to be his new campaign manager. >> trump released a statement earlier today, that reads this morning paul manafort offered and i accepted his resignation from the campaign. i'm very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular, his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process. paul is a true professional, and i wish him the greatest success. >> joining us to break this all down, niles, the associate editor at the hill, niles, thanks for coming in and talking with us. so, what are your thought brinking in ban on and conway? do you think this is the route that we need to go or that donald trump needs to be going? clearly donald trump had a very bad few weeks in this campaign, pretty much nothing went right, he plummeted in the polls. he received a lot of criticism from his fellow republicans. so, this is real a effort to try to re-set this once again to take it more perhaps conventional direction, but to stabilize it, start making progress against hillary clinton. >> was supposed to come in and make donald trump more presidential. we heard conway and banon want to come in and be the donald trump he was before. so, you know, is this a plug for donald trump to going back to who he was. >> needs to expands his support. he felt constrained by manafort, perhaps if he can bring some discipline to his campaign, but still be who he is, he might be able theoretically to find some sweet spot. and i think that's what this is really about. >> you know, we have seen him kind of buck the system in terms whatever traditional candidate would tip inningly do, and now we're starting to see him rolling out some of these new you think this won't help at all? >> he needs to bring the focus on hillary clinton, so far, at least in the last few weeks, a lot of the focus has been on trump himself and the perception he keeps making these mistakes. >> hillary clinton, democrats would agrees, those have not been seen, have not been prominent, because donald trump, and his chaos around his campaign, has essentially taken up all of the oxygen in the room. >> now, some of the campaign ads that we've been seeing, put out by the trump campaign, also just short time ago, donald trump was speaking up in the detroit area, he seeming to go after the segment of voters who right now are not on board to vote for him. we are talking about the black vote. he mentioned and we can see in one of the ads there, he was trying to blame hillary clinton, saying clinton and the democratic, the democrats, made blacks feet more -- feel more refugees, they seem to support the immigrants more than blacks. is this the direction that he needs to go in, to sort of build up and get more of the black vote? >> i think honestly the idea of donald trump getting more of the black vote is a very, very dubious one, and obviously the republican party has struggled for decades now at this point with african-americans, donald trump particularly so, we've even seen some state level polls in the cycle registering actually 0 percent support in the black community for donald trump. now, certainly, it doesn't take much to improve upon a rating of is her glow that's trowel. >> but the idea of large scale sporty think is unlikely. >> let me quickly ask you about the optic of donald trump, down in southern louisianna, baton rouge, is this politics, or was this, you know, genius mover here for donald trump? >> a combination of both, i trump by going to louisianna was at least trying to portray himself as a more press al figure, that has been one of the critisisms of this campaign, it may work, it may help rehabilitate his image in some people's minds. >> all right, thank you so much from the hill. we appreciate it. and talking about sort of re-inventing himself spoke last night at a rail, in something he hasn't done, at least that we can remember, stopped short of apologizing but did say he regretted some of the things he had said in the past. take a listen to this. >> sometimes in the heat of debate, and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don't choose the right words, or you say the wrong thing. i have done that. regret it. >> it didn't sounds like the trump we're used to, trying again to appeal to voters headed into the election, but he is struggling with certain groups including the women's vote. joining us now to talk more about that, is alex dixon, vice president for the league of women voters of the district of columbia. thank you for joining us. >> thank you. >> well, alex, this was astounding to me, reading in the new york times, more women than men have turned out to vote in every presidential election since 1964. and so it makes you realize how important the women's vote really is. >> that's right. it is, it is representative of the voters as a whole, it is not a small voting block, it is america. >> we know donald trump was trying to give a softer side, or different point of view yesterday when he came out and said he regretted some of the things that he had said in the past, especially, if it personal pain. he stopped short of exactly explaining what he meant by that. is it too little too late, we heard from carly fiorina, to megan kelly, is it too late, or can he do anything to appeal to women voters? >> well, i think really, we aren't going to know. not today, not tomorrow, the voters will have to decide this. we have 80 more days until the election. and both candidates have to prove to the voters that they're the best person for the job. and there is nothing that one person can say is enough. >> now, alex, you kind of brought up a point here. both of them have to appeal to women voters. and, you know, i think a lot of people make the assumption, they see hillary clinton on the particular, of course, the women will vote for her. she'll get the women's vote. but, you know, i hear a lot of women out there, that are not necessarily big fans of hillary clinton what is she need to do then to kind of bring those voters over to her side that perhaps are not too happy about her or trump? >> well, we're not real nay position to give advice to either of the candidates. the women of legal voters is non-partisan, do not support or oppose any candidate or party. >> let me ask you this then. what is it you think are most important to women in talking with women that you know in your circle? what are they saying to you about what's most important to them from their candidate? >> well, women want the same thing all voters want. we're looking for good economy, we're looking, we care about healthcare, great schools, global security, as well as security in our neighborhoods. these are things we care about. these are things that voters care about. again, what women are not a voting block, they are voters. and when you realize that they are, the majority of our women's issues. we know that women don't vote based on gender. but they vote on up greater demographic issues, where they live, their age, their race, their income, those are the issues that tends to impact how they vote. not their joinedder. >> all right, so alex says if we move forward into these last few days, what are you guys doing there, at the league of women voters, to sort of make sure that you get people to the polls? do you guys have any special programs, or things that you are doing to make sure women go to the polls? >> well, absolutely. election seasons, busiest time. we are actively out in the neighborhoods, in dc, across the national capitol area, across the united states, registering voters, will be active doing that throughout the month of september. and then when we move into the election, we have a wonderful on-line program called vote 411. com. over turn to help get ready to vote. we provide neutral information about the election, and we by comparisons of the candidate in their positions on important issues that families care about at home. >> all right, we certainly appreciate you coming in. we know this will be a busy time for you guys, as well, in the next 80 days. >> it is for you, too. >> with the legal women of women voters here in d.c., thanks so much. as the race for the white house heats up, the weather in our area cooled off just little bit today. >> i know, let's check in with again tal bert with a check on the weather for us, high. >> the real cool down, once we get into monday, but meantime there is weekends, still temperatures into the 90's, let's take a look where we're headed. starting with tonight, by the time we hit into the 7:00 hour, or so, we are talking partly cloudy skies across the area. and our temperatures will start to gradually head into our overnight lows, and a little bit of humidity still kicking in. so w map, show you exactly what's going on. we are looking at 89 degrees by the time we hit the 7:00 hour, eight a degrees, also, at about 9:00 and by 11:00 we are going to be talking temperatures at least into the low 80s, so the heat will be on. and we are going to end up seeing our overnight lowe's tonight, only into the 70s and the 80s. but tomorrow talking about a high into the low 90s. the good news is once we hit our seven day forecast, and we get into the week, we'll see much improvement. we will be seasonal conditions into the week, low humidity, yeah, everybody is waiting for that. in the meantime also talking a chance of some severe storms on your saturday. so on your sunday, excuse me, be prepared for that. saturday we will see maybe pop up storm here and there, not much to be too concerned with, pretty much like it was today. saturday the day when the storms could get severe early afternoon into the evening hours, we have cold front coming through, once the front clears, the good news is we are going to see that drier air moving in. so, break. from the monday through to the wednesday period. with plenty of sunshine, dry conditions out there, before we hit the weekend again. by next friday, we will have another active weather system that could bring us a chance for some storms, as well. so, eyes to the sky by sunday. >> before we get to all of that, i am happy to see that 84 thereon tuesday. >> i think everybody is. i'm telling you, tired of the 90's. >> i've never looked forward to a monday ever in my life. but now i am. >> you know what they say when it comes to the hot weather, careful what you ask for. thank you. >> well, donald trump's campaign claiming hillary clinton is sick. we'll take a closer look at their claims the democratic presidential nominee is suffering a language disorder. >> we want you guys to join the conversation tonight. tweet us right now, using the hashtag 5@6:30. we are talking about hillary clinton. we're talking about donald trump. and anything else you want to talk about. we'll be right back. >> what in the worlds is going on? well, it is back and forth between the presidential candidates, that's nothing new, but this election cycle donald trump and his surrogates are consistently raised questions about hillary clinton's health. >> so yesterday trump spokeswoman katrina diagnosed the democratic nominee with the language disorder, dysphagia. >> it happened during a interview. the question is what is dysphagia? is it even possible to diagnosis by just looking at someone? family doctor shipley joins us via skype. hi, how are you? >> hi, how are you guys? >> good. first, hillary clinton has never been diagnosed when dis fascia. can you diagnosis it by just looking at someone? >> i certainly never learned how to diagnosis just looking at someone, but what it is, an inability or deficiency in your alibi to form words and also to comprehends language. so to times after either traumatic brain injury, a head injury, or common time we also see people suffering from dis fascia, where they'll lose their words, may not under stand or have trouble with talking or speaking. and hillary clinton never has really exhibited those symptoms in 2012, in 2013, she was suffering from a condition caution. >> right. >> however at that time even then never diagnosed as having dis fascia, recently never really exhibited any of the symptoms of the loss of words, having trouble under standing, to really say that she is suffering from that condition, and additionally, just seeing a person and how they interact, how they speak; very difficult to make that diagnosis. >> yes, it is interesting you say that, doctor, because pearson isn't the first to allege that clinton has it, a doctor appearing on sean's last week suggested that clinton might have a fascia, which is explain the difference between the two? >> so, really you're not able to speak at all, and in dis fascia you're having trouble. so it is not completely the entire loss of words or lack of comprehension. but the reality is is that she as never really ever exhibited these symptoms. and, you know, you see her, she may have suffered from some tiredness, which we all do occasionally, people can kind of forget what they're saying, but it is very different from the neurological condition that they're claim that she has. and, if you go back to 2012, where she did suffer from a concussion, and she was found to have a blood clot at that time she was placed on blood thinners. she had a clean bill of health. so for her to have these symptoms three, four years later extremely unusual, and currently, she is not exhibit any of those symptoms. so, their diagnosis just by looking at her is unusual. >> it seems wreckless to sort of look at someone and just sort of throw out these wild claims, can this be dangerous to say oops they have this, oops they have that? >> i certainly think so. this is clinical diagnosis, and a word she is use that has implication action, when you say someone has a neurological condition, that can have a lot of implications and influence the way that somebody might think about her and her ability to perform her duties, but, time and time again it, looks like her doctor has given her clean bill of health, that she can perform all of the duties necessary. so, it is very, i think, damaging and hard for them to put this on her when she really hasn't been diagnosed with any deficit, particularly, dis fascia, or a and it will be hard to shake that, that word is out there. >> doctor, you mention she had banged her head several years back. is that something that you think -- how long would it take for those symptoms to display, and also, how common is this that something could come up like that after the kind of fall she took? >> so she did take a fall and then suffered a concussion. and i don't know, you guys probably remember seeing her wear the thick rim glasses, big topic, health debate there, but two weeks after her symptoms got better. so typically even after a person goes through a concussion, the symptoms resolve over time. it is very unlikely that four years later, three, four years later, she will suddenly stop, you know, finding her words, a new injury would have had to have been cited, that she suddenly has dysphasia. to say it happened shortly after the concussion, could have been an issue, something we doee action, but this far out, very unlikely. >> doctor, thank you so much. we appreciate you weighing in and sort of breaking this down for us. thanks so much. >> no problem, have a good night. >> i think it is really interesting, too, at this point, hill had i's doctors in 2015 released her medical records and said she was fit to serve as president of the united states. some of trump's people also released something but has been some question as to the doctor who released the statement saying that he was okay. >> other than that, he really is okay, whether he is a legitimate doctor, perhaps. >> those are some of the questions there. the listing on the heading, the website and where it went to, people were questioning. so we'll wait and see what happens in the future. >> exactly. think it is interesting, as you pointed out, that is wreckless to just go around saying it, someone had a that is not even a doctor, claim that that's what she has. >> right. >> people are crazy anyway. coming up: there may be some family drama brewing. we'll tell you all about it. >> so the gop nominee wasn't always truthful doug his time on shell reby apprentice. we'll explain. 5@6:30, tweet us your thoughts. know you can keep your financial big picture under control. know you can see how much you have to spend and whether you should transfer funds. know you can easily keep track of what you're putting away. and know you're budgeted for the great escape. thanks to virtual wallet by pnc. ♪ well, we all know before he decided to run for president, donald trump was the host of the hit show celebrity apprentice. >> his catch phrase of course: you're fired. >> right. that was normally followed by a promise that he was personally going to give some of the celebrities on the show a gift from his own bank account, as a way of consoling the celebrity who lost. back in 2009, he promised khloe kardashian $20,000 for the charity she supported, and she said she received a check it, wasn't from donald trump, the tv worked on the show put up the money. the post followed during 83 episodes, seven seasons, but could not confirm a single case where trump sent his own money. >> not good. >> no. >> if you're going to do it, you got to do it. >> well, also, maybe donald's not happy about this. a member of his extended not voting on election day. >> josh, the younger brother of ivanka trump, described as quota life-long democrat in a newest choir profile of his older brother. he said he loved his brother, did not want to say anything that might embarrass him, but he is a life-long democrat. and will not be voting for donald trump in november. i got to get a sense, though, that, you know, when it comes to the family dinners, probably kind after joke. don't you think?
