I couldnt what about my face with a washcloth, i cant do my hair. I literally could do very, very little with thissism to not being able to take care of herself. And it was blood poisoning. It was septic shock syndrome which is a form of blood poisoning. So, what happens all the blood leaves your extremities and rushes to your internal organs. Reporter the infection nearly killed her h the lack of circulation meant both of her legs hands and part of her face and tongue had to be amputated. She feared she would have to live in a nursing home for the rest of her days. And i said do i want to be like this the rest of my life . Do i want to be in a nursing home for the next 20, laying in bed watching tv. No, that was not me. Okay. So, thats my hand. Reporter as she came to grips with her reality, she decided to change it. In just 15 months, and thanks to ability prosthetics and orthotics she was able to do that one step at a time. Ability prosthetics who actually did my legs also said, well, i should have hands and i said, so, what does that mean . Reporter what it means is nearly full range movement of her fingers and hands thanks to these new high tech hands. She lost her fingers but theres still muscles in her hand so weve taught her to fire specific muscles when she wants to open or close the hand and we have emg sensors over those muscles. Reporter sharon tells me one of the Biggest Challenges shes dealt with is her Insurance Company because they consider the technology for her prosthetics experimental so she has to convince them that it makes a huge difference in her quality of life and health. Jim, sarah. Well, it appears the second time is a charge for the republican crafted healthcare bill. Today the house of representatives voted to pass a revamped version of the American Healthcare act. The vote went along party lines as well. Fox5s political reporter ronica cleary joining us now live from capitol hill with the latest. Ronica. Reporter hey, sarah. Well, if you recall, that pres ryan had to hold after the first attempt at repealing and replacing obamacare didnt pass, todays energy was very different. There was an impromptu event in the rose garden with dozens of gop lawmakers. It was head lined if you will by the president and Vice President really celebrating todays passage in the house of this healthcare bill. Take a listen to some of the highlights. Make no mistake this is a repeal and a replace of obamacare. Make no mistake about it. Mak no mistake. [applause] and i think most importantly, yes, premiums will be coming do you think, yes deductibles will be coming down but very importantly, its a great plan and ultimately thats what its all about. Like i said weve got a lot of work to do but one thing is now clear, republicans are committed to keeping our promise to lift the burden of obamacare from the American People better more patient centered system. Reporter well, to tell you a little bit about the vote it passed with with 217 to 213 thats just one vote over the 216 needed, 20 republicans went against party lines. They voted against the bill. Now, one republican who previously voted no but today or would have voted no but today voted yes was virginia congressman dave brat. I asked him about the concerns people have about the new bills effect on those with preexisting conditions. He defended the bill and he said that they will be covered. Thats total politics, right. Anyone that digs into this thing for five seconds the opposition wont be able to respond for rational arguments. Number one preexisting conditions is a lot of land under obamacare. That one no one ever proposed that even. So, thats a mystery to me how the press is covering that as reporter we know you dont all agree with that, of course. We want to hear from you. Were going to be back on 5 at 6 30 giving you what we like to call the pulse of the people. So, its a winwin for everybody involved. You can see mike thomas earlier and tucker is always mobbed, caitlin was here. We had a great crew and we are also very grateful to everyone who came out today. And we had some decent weather. We were a little worried maybe we would see rain trying to sneak in later innings. That was last week. We knew yesterday that that rain would hold off. Oh, first pitch by the way you can see that right there we are very delighted that one of our llc fans, leuke lymphoma, we are very concerned about that charity we like to raise money for them and our guest here was throwing out the first pitch. He was bidding on that as an auction item as part of weather day. And ill make sure i get you his name for the next weather broadcast we do.
