each other. >> reporter: montgomery county police say according to the initial investigation, alcohol was most likely not a factor but speed and inexperience of the driver could be factors. driver, shooting in annondale. the victims knew each other but a short of calling this domestic dispute children were inside the house when the shooting started were you the able to escape unharmed. fox 5 paul wagner joins live from the scene. what happened out there? . >> reporter: fairfax county police are not telling us a lot of information at this point. in fact, they're stopping just short of calling this a domestic related the incident at this point. we're not far from fairfax county or nova fairfax county hospital. this down beverly drive here right off of tolbin road in the annondale section of fairfax county. you can see the police officer standing there inside the yellow crime scene tape. he is been stand there quite some time. what we understand this happened at that house just beyond where he is standing. let's show you video that we shot earlier today. fairfax county police responded gunfire was reported inside a single family home. and that is in the 3400 block of beverly drive. police say one victim was found inside the home and one outside. the children whose ages are still unknown ran out when the shooting began and were later found by police. neighbors were urged to stay inside about an hour while police searched the area to make sure the man in custody was the only person with a gun. >> the man who was found outside was he shot outside or inside and ran outside? >> we're looking into exactly where the two people were injured. i'm not sure whether it was inside or house. i just know they observed the man in the backyard and then the woman, the he said the dog started to bark. and things got a little bit chaotic here in the neighborhood. we know that the police asked people to stay inside their houses for quite some time. and the police did husband shooting at her to wat her husband chased after her killed the neighbor and brutally his estranged wife. matt is live in culpeper with more on that. matt? >> reporter: the sheriff just briefed us not long ago. of he says his officers on the scene were forced to fire at and then kill this man who they believed had just shot at his estranged wife and also shot at a another man inside a home. turns out they learned later that man inside the home was dead. i want to take you to video. show you the scene here. this is along gray street in here in culpeper. it happened around 9:00 last night. will list walker chased his wife out of the house firing at her as she ran to a neighbor's house for shelter. he had a shotgun. listen to the sheriff describe what went on. it is chilling. with a shotgun firing at least one round as he was following her. he arrived at that door after she had made entry to receive shelter from the homeowner. he made an approach to the door firing more than one shot into the door and making entry to the house at which point he shot and killed the 74-year-old male occupant of the home. >> reporter: to the sheriff went on to say that his officers were able to respond quickly once they got to the house, they then spotted mr. walker outside the house. he had a gun and hand. i want you to listen to the police transmission. the sheriff released this not long this, the sheriff says since this was a police involved shooting, he is asked virginia state police to investigate what happened there last night and one more thing before we go. the sheriff tells us that the 911 call, there was a woman inside the house, her partner, that 74-year-old man who was shot and killed apparently she was on the phone calling 911. as she's askingo can hear gunfire in the background. it was hard to hear. he's waiting for the prosecutor to see if the prosecutor wants to release those tapes. or it will be used as evidence. but we'll bring it to you if they are released shooting in annondale. the victims knew each other but a short of calling this domestic dispute children were inside the house when the shooting started were you the able to escape unharmed. fox 5 paul wagner joins live from the scene. what happened out there? . >> reporter: fairfax county police are not telling us a lot of information at this point. in fact, they're stopping just short of calling this a domestic related the incident at this point. we're not far from fairfax county or nova fairfax county hospital. this down beverly drive here right off of tolbin road in the annondale section of fairfax county. you can see the police officer standing there inside the yellow crime scene tape. he is been stand there quite some time. what we understand this happened at that house just beyond where he is standing. let's show you video that we shot earlier today. fairfax county police responded gunfire was reported inside a single family home. and that is in the 3400 block of beverly drive. police say one victim was found inside the home and one outside. the children whose ages are still unknown ran out when the shooting began and were later found by police. neighbors were urged to stay inside about an hour while police searched the area to make sure the man in custody was the only person with a gun. >> the man who was found outside was he shot outside or inside and ran outside? >> we're looking into exactly where the two people were injured. i'm not sure whether it was inside or house. i just know they observed the man in the backyard and then the woman, the officers found second victim and took her to the hospital. >> the question people are having, is this some kind of a random shooting? was this a domestic? was this a robbery? progress? anything you he said the dog started to bark. and things got a little bit chaotic here in the neighborhood. we know that the police asked people to stay inside their houses for quite some time. and the police did husband shooting at her to wat her husband chased after her killed the neighbor and brutally his estranged wife. matt is live in culpeper with more on that. matt? >> reporter: the sheriff just briefed us not long ago. of he says his officers on the scene were forced to fire at and then kill this man who they believed had just shot at his estranged wife and also shot at a another man inside a home. turns out they learned later that man inside the home was dead. i want to take you to video. show you the scene here. this is along gray street in here in culpeper. it happened around 9:00 last night. will list walker chased his wife out of the house firing at her as she ran to a neighbor's house for shelter. he had a shotgun. listen to the sheriff describe what went on. it is chilling. with a shotgun firing at least one round as he was following her. he arrived at that door after she had made entry to receive shelter from the homeowner. he made an approach to the door firing more than one shot into the door and making entry to the house at which point he shot and killed the 74-year-old male occupant of the home. >> reporter: to the sheriff went on to say that his officers were able to respond quickly once they got to the house, they then spotted mr. walker outside the house. he had a gun and hand. i want you to listen to the police transmission. the sheriff released this not long ago as things took place. we edited it a bit but listen to it. >> he got the gunpointed at me behind the tree. >> be advised the subject is young. >> yelling to kill him. >> >> culpeper we got one round in him. he's not moving. >> reporter: we should tell you this was a longer clip but basically, we took several of the signed bites and put them together but they were in order. once we can, this, the sheriff says since this was a police involved shooting, he is asked virginia state police to investigate what happened there last night and one more thing before we go. the sheriff tells us that the 911 call, there was a woman inside the house, her partner, that 74-year-old man who was shot and killed apparently she was on the phone calling 911. as she's askingo can hear gunfire in the background. it was hard to hear. he's waiting for the prosecutor to see if the prosecutor wants to release those tapes. or it will be used as evidence. but we'll bring it to you if they are released
