Neighborhood in rue inches after a night of violence triggered by the shooting death of an armed suspect by Milwaukee Police. The neighborhood is in shock but calm is restored. This is the latest. He did describe the video for us in a press conference. He said the entire incident took 25 seconds from the time the officer unbuckled his seat belt to the actual shooting. It shows between the officer and suspect, who we now know is Sylville Smith. Then he says the video shows the suspect, Sylville Smith turn towards the officer with a gun in his hand. I know what i saw on the video, i know what i see in the still. Certainly appears to me that at the time he made that decision, it was a credible and legally protected decision. And chief flynn also said in it at the time. He did not actually fire his weapon but he also didnt drop the gun when he was told to by that officer. We also learned today that the officer involved in this incident is africanamerican. Chief flynn said while he hopes race doesnt matter, he knows that it does and thats why he mentioned that. One Police Officer was taken to the hospital after being hit in the head. Several bus stops and traffic lights were ripped out and overturned. But people had already taken over the bp gas station. You can see people setting the property on fire. A few blocks away, other businesses were vandalize. Similar scene on 44th and 48th streets.
