>> it is an event that brings together community leaders to connect with our female club members. the girls get a chance to showcase exhibits they have built that d programs that serve them through the clubs and really it's a great opportunity for our guests to mingle with them, to learn their stories, and to support them and their futures. >> it's so neat some of the programs that i have read about we'll talk about that in one second. the programs you have participated in. some are really cool like participating in a mock trial, there was a program i read about, about girls learning engineering, and then something fun i thought was spending an afternoon at the summerfest offices and kind of working on important to everybody. really unique opportunities. >> it is that's actually something special about our event instead of going to an event where you purchase an auction item for yourself to bring home you can purchase a learning experience for our girls to participate in. what you just mentioned for example, they are offering the girls to come to a mock trial and have lunch with them. that's a once in a lifetime experience. so our sponsor girls who attend that and learn about what it is like to be a lawyer and maybe consider that as a possible career choice. >> during the commercial break you were telling me about a unique opportunity that dnaya was able to participate in. was that something that someone purchased as part of a experience? >> absolutely. we will have 45 opportunities. we can send hundreds of girls on these learning experiences if the guests are willing to step up and sponsor a girl. anniversary this year. our girls will get to work on a social media campaign for them. we have had girls learn about being an engineer which of course we're encouraging more girls to get involved in stem activities so it's just really, an opportunity for them to explore and expand their horizons to what the possibilities could be in the future. >> science, technology, engineering and math. i think it's wonderful to expose girls more to those fields in particular where maybe they haven't had the opportunity in the past. so let's talk a little b some of the programs you have participated in. there are several right? >> yes. i have actually participated in a club called keystone and it is it a community service program. i have been in a woman empowering group called sister pride and i have been involved in cheerleading and volleyball. >> that is so neat. what was the experience that you had, i had lunch with professional women right? >> 30 professional women in 30 >> that is so neat. unique opportunities. what do you feel that the boys and girls clubs have done for you or what do you think you have maybe seen that you maybe wouldn't have otherwise seen because you have been a member? >> i think just reaching out to the community more. i don't think why have been able to do that without the clubs and i think it's important to reach out to the community just because everything that is going on in the world. and, it's just really a privilege to do t i bet you have a lot of great young people like dnaya that have really benefited from these experiences. >> absolutely. it's wonderful to cea see as the girls go through the programming and meet the community members, you see the moment of awe. when it clicks that there is a bright future ahead for these girls and they are very talented and the guests that attend this event for the past two years the number one thing they come away you think about these are our future leaders here in milwaukee so the future does look bright we just need to make sure we're giving them the opportunities and empowering them to be the best they can be. >> do you know what you want to be after high school? you're a sophomore right? >> yes. >> i would like to be a pediatrician or obgyn. >> that's awesome. good for you. going to be in school for auto long time, but that's awesome that people are aiming high with future goals. celebrating girls this event is open they can find out more because their goal is to grow inspirational and responsible leaders next week thursday november 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 at the garage at the harley davidson museum a super fun place to have this event. boys girls clubs .org is the website. do you know what tickets cost for the event? >> we have grease sponsors like herzing university. it's $100 per ticket. programming a at boys and girls clubs. daily therapy is recommended by doctors for heart health, but russ feingold voiceover: as i travel to all 72 counties - knocking on doors, talking to folks - what i hear the most is how hard it is to get ahead. one big reason -- we have a political system working overtime -- for ceos. for exporting our jobs. i'm russ feingold and i approve this message because we need an economy million americans experience a first heart attack joining the 26 million already at risk. many are prescribed a daily aspirin to prevent recurrent heart attacks, but some don't ttolerate daily aspirin use. dr. lori mosca joins us live to talk about a new fda drug for parents that don't toll rat aspirin. good morning to you doctor. >> thanks for having me. >> thanks for joining us. let's talk about heart disease and why it continues to be such states. some of the latest guidelines that are out and kind of advice that can help people maybe stop these recurrent strokes or heart attacks. >> yeah well you know it is interesting that the healthy choices are often not the easy choices right? so even though we have great guidelines and great evidence now about how to prevent heart disease, we really still need to work a lot on making better and adhering to the recommendations that our physicians give to us. >> i want to address aspirin thing that sort of seems like it is the gold standard in what we hear for preventing heart attacks for someone who is at risk or had a heart attack that daily aspirin. is that true it's the gold standards currently still? >> yes. for decades now we have known that aspirin can prevent recurrent heart problems. you know it is really at the top of the list for longevity. heart disease. you know the challenge with it of course is that, there are side effects associatessed with aspirin. we know that one in four patients who should be taking it are actually not taking it. and that can increase their risk as as much as 300% for recurrent heart problem. >> two questions for you, is the reason it is so good does it kind of thin out the blood and help it pump and circulate a little better and why ares they properties that are good for the heart. as you mentioned, it can make our blood a little less sticky, our blood cells so that can prevent clotting which can lead to a heart attack. also has antiinflammatory properties. so these are the good parts of aspirin. but the down side to aspirin is it can effect the stomach lining in a way that makes us more susceptible to gas trites, to gi bleeding and that's one of the big taking their aspirin. >> so what is something that we can do whether you're a patient or healthcare provider when you think about stomach issues immediately your mind goes to an antacid is that something that helps? >> when you have this problem, it's very important that you don't just try to take care of it yourself. you talk to your dr. doctor abt it could be something serious like an ulcer in your stomach. symptoms to talk to their healthcare providers, but if you are taking aspirin to prevent a recurrent heart problem and over the age of 55 or have other risk factors for ulcers i think it is very important you talk to your doctor about preventive therapy. you mentioned there is a new fda drug available. this is very excited for our field. it's the first time we really have in one pill, the ability to protect the heart through and also to protect the stomach lining against ulcers and that's great news. because as we said, one of the big reasons, why patients stop taking aspirin, is this stomach side effects. and again, stopping it if you have a problem, with gi symptoms, and you're not taking your aspirin your risk for a heart attack could be as increased as as much as seven patients with heart disease. >> is the drug that you are talking about something we can ask for by name is it available right now and does it then eliminate the need for aspirin?
