for driving without a license. two children are recovering this morning -- hit by a car in norfolk yesterday. police say a car was making a left turn to go south on chesapeake boulevard, and that s when it hit a seven and a nine year old boy in the crosswalk. police cited the man driving the car for failing to yield the right of way, driving on a suspended license, and having no insurance. new details on a breaking news story we brought to you yesterday. two people are dead in a massive fire destroyed a middlesex county marina. the fire started around 4-30 yesterday morning. the flames destroyed two buildings, and 21 boats. a friend says the people who died were sleeping on their boat. investigators think someone set the marina on fire because of evidence that they found at the scene -- but they aren )t saying what that evidence is. police say they will release the victim )s identities once they notify their family. in portsmouth: police are investigating a shooting. officers were called to meander road and broad street around 3-30 yesterday afternoon. when they arrived they found a man shot in the arm. he was taken to the hospital where he is recovering. no word on a suspect or a motive. two of our local cities are considered murder capitals of the united states. that ranking stemming from the number of violent crime during last year. newport news and norfolk both made the list for the top 30 murder capitals of the u-s. according to a survey -- information provided by the f-b-i and other government had the most violent crime per 100 thousand people in each state. norfolk was ranked 28 and newport news was ranked 25. police are sending out a reminder that you can help keep crime out of your neighborhood by calling the crime line whenever you see something suspicious. the man accused of killing prince william county police officer ashley guindon - is now formally charged with the crime. guindon was shot and killed saturday while responding to a domestic violence call in woodbridge. 32-year-old ronald hamilton is accused of shooting guindon, and veteran officers jesse hempen and david mckeown as they walked up to the front door of his house. hamilton is also accused of killing his wife before police got to the scene. hamilton - by a police officer. so far the demonstrations in raleigh north carolina are peaceful. the police department says and killed akiel denkins yesterday afternoon after a short chase. twiddy was trying to arrest denkins on a drug charge when police say the 24-year-old took off. the officer is on leave pending an investigation. jesse matthew junior is set to enter a guilty plea this week for two virginia murder cases. matthew is charged with killing u-v-a student hannah graham. she disappeared in september of 20- 14-- her remains found a month later. the albemarle commonwealth s attorney says matthew will plead to a lesser charge in that case - a plea is also expected for the murder case of virginia tech student morgan harrington-- which happened five years earlier. a hearing is set for tomorrow at one-30. and this plea agreement is said to resolve both murder cases. later today: president obama sits down with senate republican leaders to discuss the supreme court seat left vacant by the death of justice antonin scalia. the white house says the president intends to make a nomination but is still recommendation s for his legal team. republicans have argued the decision should be left to the next president. testimony continues in the civil lawsuit involving t-v sportscaster erin andrews. andrews became emotional on the stand yesterday as she recalled the moment she learned michael barrett had secretly videotaped her while she was naked in her hotel room. andrews is suing barrett as well as the national marriott in tennessee for 75-million dollars over the 2008 incident.
