We are along 191st street and northeast 14th a. People had to take cover in bathrooms and closets. They were terrified. Outside. Just take a look at thehe damage that weve seen out here. Severe weather leaving Severe Damage in northeast miamidade tuesday morning. Most of the damage on n rtheast 191st street near 14th avenue. We seen broken fences, several uprooted tree, cars barely visible under heavy tree limb, power lines on the ground, others toppled b b more branchs. This large branch ripping off this tree blocking traffic. There were tree on my window bashing against it, rain going crazy. We have roof shingles,ing a lot of things got damaged. Like ten seconds all of this happened in a matter of ten secobds. Is crazy. Reporter and back out here live, a lot of debris to clean up. The police have been out here to make sure tt everything is safe. There are live power lines down on the street f. You are out here, please make sure that you are safe. The workers were here and heard all of the noise. Concrete plant earns completely thro around. This was all the way up here on power lines. Fplp is here making muchneeded rereins. Many of these concrete planters weighing hundreds of pounds were just tossed around her business as if they weighed nothing. Tell me what did you hear early today you were inside this car when this tornado or possible tornado came through. What did you hear . I hear too much wind and metal sounds, horrible sounds. Too much something you can tell. Reporter tell me your workers were on the other side and had to run for cover. What happened . They see and come and go inside of the container. And they close and thank god they safe. Business is hurt, if not destroyed out here. Tell me about that. Well, now we have like nothing because everything was there. You see the concrete, is everything is down, the mold gone, the office all the glasses, computers wetnd everything. Reporter how will you guys inaudible reporter so terrifying . Im so sorry. The the wind was able to just take these buildings and tear them to pieces, very scary moments for people hearing this out here. They came to work and all of a sudden they heard this loud wind and then they heard the debris hitting the building. Many of them running for cover. We also have video just off copans road near the movieco there and that is video where trees were just strewn around the parking lot, big concrete slabs lifted from the ground. The roots of these massive trees lifting that concrete. We also spoke to several people o were in the middle of this weather event waiting to hear whether or not it was a tornado say. It was just a lot of wind, a lot of blue flashes of light and trees starteded coming down everywhere. As im walking across the street, started tearing off the roof of the warehouse. You start seeing the funnel start circling, just taking the debris, started coming across the tree and getting us and trucks and cars. Reporter so again, back out live, you canan see roof material just tossed in this business. Hex concrete barriers that were on the other side of the building just thrown here on the ground. She tells me that a lot of her concrete from inside these walls here, shesearning that fell on the other side of dixie highway here. So weve got thrown probably over a thousand feet. Lets go to v veo and take you inside this area where workers have been very busy all morning. Power lines are down. Ees are uprooted. Theres no access to water. Item across northeast fifth like awnings and pieces of roofing are scattered all over the place. City officials tell us what they know so far about the path of destruction. What appears to have happened, across the west here on dixie highway, we have a number of businesses that had structural damage. We had roofsfs torn off. It would appear this twister came in a northeastirection from. There it went across fifth avenue, straight through these stables, headed northeast towards the golf course, did some damage there, went over the movie theaters, did some damage there. And headed into Lighthouse Point. We can clearly see a path that it took and amazingly, we had twister. Reporter and that horse that was injured is going to be okay. And, again, no one was working here was injured. City officials are asking for favor, though. They say theresso much work to be done in this area. And, again, power crew, people working to cut down the trees that have been thrown in this area. If you can, stay away. First i want to show you some of the damage left behind on Fort Lauderdale beach. Were just behind the marriott take a look at this. These lawn chair, they were cabled together for the night. This morning when the the storm, possible tornado came through, it just whipped them all into sand. The weathers improved since then. Temperatures are not that bad, families are starting to make their way down. Their vacation theyre going to make it a day on the beach. They may have some problems, however, renting some toy, kayaksks because the business that operates just outside of this ea on the beach here in Fort Lauderdale lost a lot of their tool, a lot of their kayak, suppli. I showed you the pile of chairs. Theres kayaks in very similar situation. The owner saw what was going on and stepped right out in the middle of i. I tried to go out my door about 7 30 and the door slammed in my face. It came right past my house in and transformers and waited it out. Sailboats up, kayaks on a 1 a, everything flipped over and pretty big mess out here. Reporter okay. You guys mentioned that very lucky individual who lives on his catamaran kind of Finger Islands there los olas area. Was on his catamaran when the the storm blew through. He told Fort Lauderdale rescue that it lifted his boat up, flipped it upside down and he had to truth his navy wits to get out safety. Fort lauderdale rescue was about he popped up. Listen to this. He couldnt get out and he was stuck. He waited for it to film up. Right when w w were going to put divers in the water to rescue, he was able to get his door free, he popped up. The captainin made the grab and brought him aboard the boat. Reporter so from the water beach here Fort Lauderdale, you will see whats left of small catamaran here that was whipped up here on the beach. Again, this massive pile of chairs. And then we look right here, fencing torn off hen that storm moved through. Here in davie off southwest 11th avenue, the severe storm torn down tree, tossed playground sets and barbecue grills like toys. Some seeking shelter as the storm hit. My wife as diligent as most wives e, she said come on, weve got to go. Next thing you know we heard a roaring, a loud roaring. Letsset to a closet, safe closet. That was a great tree, a great canopy and wonderful trade tree for the summer. Reporter this rod aaron table belongs to this house in davieful once this storm moved through, he found this heavy table about two houses down his street. Right next door, donny and his family received the alert too. We got the kids in the safe room and took cover. I went out to get some flashlights about 30 seconds later a saw the wind coming through sideways. All of the tree tops ended up in the pool. A lot of stuff along the side of the house just got raked down into the pool. Reporter and a ather family nearby picking p up the debris in the aftermath. Their f fnt gate and fence ravaged, roof tiles torn off. Devastated with this property. My husband prides himself on his yard. And it was just very hard this moing to see this come through. They have a big cleanup ahead. Good news to report in this neighborhood, these three homes that received bad damage up and down the road, no injuries to report and they all have power here. We have a cold front on the move and lucly starting to push into the florida straits. That means the bad w wther is out of here. Right now broward countz is mostly dry. Miamidade as well and the rain and upper florida keys in the last hour has pushed into the florida straits. Now, we do have a line of strong showers and storms approacacng parts of the northwestern bahamas with the leading edge of this front. But we have two surveys currently underway by the National Weather service. Miamidade. This one is taking place near sun life stadium east to i95 and south of ives dairy road. And the second one in Pompano Beach around Lighthouse Point near 28th avenue, northeast 32nd street where also a good year blimp hanger has been beaten up pretty badly and nearby adjacent areas in pompano. We will keep you posted with the latest. The Weather Service has not confirmed tornado touchdowns just yet theyre still gathering information, surveying the area. These are the preliminary storm a lot of strong gusty winds were clocked in this morning with the activity that rolled through. In pembroke pines, we had a 62 mile per hour wind gust. In davie, 61 mile per hour winds. Hollywood, 60 mile per ho winds as well, cooper 53 and country walk at around 49 miles an hour. Were waiting on official confirmation if two tornadoes touched down. One in norththst miamidade and the other in Pompano Beach. We also got a lot of rain in a short period of time this morning. Developed. Coral sprinin about an inch of rain, close to an inch an a half nearing an inch in height house point, over an inch and a h hf in Fort Lauderdale. And this is just a matter of three to four hours. And inch in opalocka, better than an inch and a half in miami shores and close to an inch in now this is the progress of the front. Its already starting to exit portions of the area and were going to start to clear up nicely. Late afternoon with even more sunshine expected across south florida. Starting tonight, temperature readings will fall a little bit. We woke up in the 70s and can ok forward to sweater weather south florida style with seasonal temperatures tomorrow morning. He is facing another blood clot scare after being held out of thee allstar gameful at first he was sidelined because of w at was being called a calf strain. The concern is m me serious now. Almost a year ago he was diagnosed with a blood clot that found its way to one of his started as a calf problem. Right now no determination has been made to his return to the court. He will spent the next few days reviewing his options, undergoing teststsnd evaluations. They rrned from the allstar break friday when they visit the atlanta hawksful a f fily left heartbroken and hoping for answers after a deadly shooting. Two women found dead Near Northeast court and 75th street. One of the victims a mother of two. I got a phone call saying my sister was shot. I came here. Two lanes finally back open after this entire interstate was shut down. A semi overturned and debebs from that storm flying through into the adway. You can see from skyforce overhead how bad the traffic really is at this point. The traffic on the othtr side of the interstate also affected. To give you a better idea of ives dairy road and Miami Gardens drive closer to Miami Gardens dre. The rushing hour traffic affected and it continues today. Butt luckily this traffic is moving freely. I want to take you to video here of the mass cam. You can see more clearly the overturned semi. Righ now it has been turned right side up. They will be moving it out of the way, out of the way of the traffic but obviously this time takes some time. I want to show you video from earlier this morning when that semi was overturned. We actually had a chance to hear from the driver and luckily he was not injured when his truck overturned. Obviously, we are learning this is the result of the Severe Weather that we experienced across the area today. Also, another driver rht near that overturned tractortrailer told us that a sign flew out of nowhere an smashed the front of s window as well. No injuries luckily from either side of the equation. Again, we are live out here where two lanes are moving freely. Obviously florida Highway Patrol and all of the other authorities out here trying to work the scene are urging people to avoid this area if possible. Reporting live on i95, ann keil, 7 news. Good afternoon, south florida. Luckily all the bad weather has pushed off the coast and well away from south florida. The cold fronts on the movend about to exit sections of the florida keys. Now, as far as tht radar is concerned, the bad weather is out of here. Right now its tried up nicely in broward,iamidade including the florida keysful the last hour or so, we saw the last batch move in and out between key largo and marathon. Pretty comfortable in the low 70s. 73 degrees in fort uderdale, 73 in miami, 5 in key west. And the skies are expected to gradually clear out as we go into the latter part of the afternoon. We already have the winds starting to pickup from the westnorthwest in response to the passage of this front any where between 3 to 5 miles per hournd theyre a lot lighter than they were this morning. So we had unsettled times, Severe Weather and now that is done and over with. Its going to dry us nicely with the clouds clearing tonight into wednesday. Were going to get a little reenforcing push of cold air goinggnto thursday to set the stage for a ni e wintry weather pattern south florida style with mild s sshine and comfortable temperature readings. And then by tonight with the skies completely clear and the dry weather in place, temperature rdings will come down to where we should be for this time of year and they will feel rather cool into the upper 50s inland, low 60s along the coast t. Florida keys will range in the mid to upper 60s. On your extended outlook, south florida, were going to trade in the rain gear forhose light sweaters and jackets south florida style going into the middle part of the week into the 50s to wake up to around parts of the area on thursday. The stormamaging the gate to the community and that was captured on surveillance cameras. Diana you can see how strong the winds are there, picking up the pots and throwing them around. Take a look at how powerful it was. This is a solid piece of metal here. I cant even lift it. This metal blown here in some other direction. It was up here in the power lines and fell down. The woman who owns this business saying that she was stuck in the middle of it. She was in her t tck when all of a sudden she saw trees and debris being blown around. There are these huge potters that are solid concrete and blown around her property here. You can see the front door of her business is gone. She sd she doesnt know where thats at. The build beg hind this door, there are holes in the roof. That building also damaged. Now she says a lot of her material, her Building Material landed on the otheride of dixie here. She said her neighbors have been calling her, saying theyre fiing pieces from her business out over there. Youre seeing video of the nearby warehouses and trees scattered throughout Pompano Beach. Its a pretty widespread area. Last time we were out here covering a tornado, it was a more condensed area. Now it seems to be a a little more widespread. We have b bn out canvassing all morning going several miles talkinin wit people. One man we spoke to saying that he was watching the storm. His Truck Drivers were about to head out on the road and all of a sudden he saw the roof of another building being lifted in the air. Then he saw what he described as a funnel and all of a sudden he said it started to spin, started to turn. He saw debris being lifted up and thats hen heold all of his w wkers to go inside, go into another building because they needed to go for cover. Again, wehear from some of these people we spoke to them and this is what some of the people we spoke to had to say. Theres just a lot of wind, a trees started coming down everywhexe. As im watching across the street, it started tearing off the roof of the warehouse. You start to see the funnel start ciriring taking all of the debris and started coming across the street getting us and cars, the big debris from the roof over there. Reporter back out live to this concrete business, the owner telling me on the other side of this wall is where they furnish the materia and that is damaged. She said she cant even get underneath to see if her machines are gone. Theyre small business. They dont knono how theyre going to recover. And so much, so many other stories like this throughout Pompano Beach andnd throughout south florida. Many people now picking up from this wicked storm. Its unclear exactly if this was indeed a tornado. We do know that the national here. Theyre canvassing the area. Were hoping to catch up with them an figure out exactly what went through here. Florida power and light is in the area. There is another vehicle in the area underneath the tree. You can see that same kind of damage. This is all in an apartment i95. And along the barrier wall there, you can see tririrl train go by there. Right here we have more trees down on top of vehicles, so there were a lot of folks home waiting out this weather and they were the victims or at least their cars were the victims of the strong wins that came through. Theyre also assessing some damage in pompano to a good year blimp that was beaten up pretty badly. Where the good year blimp hanger is at. We have repepts of strong gusty wind this is morning.
