The drama is unfolding at the kayuga salt mine, one of the deepest salt mines in north america. Demarco morgan is following this breaking story. So far, what we know is around 10 20 p. M. Last night the miners got stuck in an elevator while working in the kuyaga salt mine and 7500 feet under ground according to the ithaca fire department. That is about half of the size of the Empire State Building and happening in lansing, new york, an hour south of syracuse. The mine dates back to 1915 and one of the deepest salt mines in the country. We are told First Responders food, water and blankets.
