right here in charlotte. raymond frazier will be held in county jail until he can be extradited to buffalo to face weapons charges. he was arrested in uptown yesterday. he was on the run for 3 weeks. sad story tonight in gaston county. this local mother is accused of keeping her three children out of school for more than 3 years. new this hour reporter ken lemon was in court when she went before a judge and found they lived within walking distance of a school. >> reporter: beyond the homes is the newest high school and one of the most highly regarded schools in gaston county and right over here is a front door to jennifer elam's home. her children could see the school from the front porch. they could likely hear school bus and stewed antes risk and leaving campus. -- students arriving and leaving campus but she killed her children 10, 18 and 15 from attending school she said she tried to school her children herself. >> my husband was home schooled before he passed away and when i had said the 15- year-old had to stay home to baby-sitter the other children and neighbors say there's also a preschool age child in the home. a deputy put in -- put an eviction notice on the day and a few days ago social worker rerealized they weren't in school. school officials say they had no idea they weren't tracked because they were not enrolled in public school. a neighbor jaqueline smith involving lap tops. dr. mike web is the deputy superintendent for instructional technology and operations his last day on the job will be june 1st. superintendent dr. mary ellis says her last day will also be june 1st. earlier this month she announced she is retiring and has been the union county superintendent since 2012. the school board plans to meet on monday to discuss their search for the next superintendent. all of this comes just weeks after the sbi and district attorney announced no charges will be filed against ellis and webb in case involving their company and a school laptop contract. we discovered in november ellis webb and another district administrator have a company employed a computer seller from lenovo who sold thousands of laptops to the district. this is a getting worse as construction picks up since the beginning of march we have sent out 6 push alerts about crashes on i-77 all on the morning drive. >> i am not surprised. it's ridiculous. i avoid it at all cost. >> reporter: we went to the people who can't avoid i-77 state troopers. >> definitely it's a mess of a numbers to prove it. 228 crashes on this stretch throroh mecklenburg county in january. 240 in february. and so far this month, 162 already. i asked troopers if they are planning on anything to combat the issue and the construction is making that tough. >> as long as that is going on
