Were waking up to more drama this morning. President trump moments ago sending out a flurry of tweets. A Shocking Development this morning, writing on twitter that former president obama had his wires tapped at trump tower before the election. Lets get to casey hon in west palm beach. Good morning. Chanel, craig, good morning. President trump already up here at his winter white house in maralago. Tweeting potentially explosive new allegations about the Obama Administration wiretapping at trump tower just before the election. He writes, terrible just found out that obama had my wires tapped in trump tower just before the victory. Nothing found and he says, this is mccarthyism. This is just emerging, we have trying to find out exactly the latest and what has happened. But this is shaping up to be another busy weekend for the president. President trump touching down in florida for another working weekend. It is not rest at the southern white house, its all work. Making the short trip from his maralago estate to the swanky four season, meeting with wealthy republican donors. In public, trying to turn the tables on democrats, tweeting this picture of nancy pelosi meeting with the Russian Ambassador after she claimed she hadnt. And in one of Chuck Schumer at a gas station with Vladimir Putin. For the record, schumer tweeted, they were krispy kreme donuts. The democrats arguing their meetings were out in the open while President Trumps associates meetings were secret. The latest former trump former policy adviser carter page who once said he had never met with the Russian Ambassador. This week in cleveland durks talk to him . Im not going to deny i talked to him. Pressure is mounting, with democrats demanding that the Justice Department give congress more information about any investigation into Trump Campaign contacts with the russians. I would say at this point we know less than a fraction of what the fbi knows. Democratic senator chris kunitz telling nbcs Andrea Mitchell that there might be transcripts that the fbi isnt showing congress. There are transcripts that provide critical insight into whether or not russian intelligence and senior russian political leaders, including Vladimir Putin were cooperating, were colluding with the Trump Campaign at the highest levels, to influence the outcome of our election. Meanwhile, Vice President mike pence facing his own controversy. The indy star reporting he just turned over 13 boxes of emails, sent from a private business, sent from a private account while he was governor of indiana. Theres no comparison whatsoever between hilla private server, mishandling classified information. Hillary clinton was on a flight with her one of her former top aides when a fellow passenger caught a picture of her reading the u. S. A. Today story about mike pences emails, a little irony there. But i want to also point out the president still tweeting in the middle of a series of these, as we were just in that spot, how low has president obama gone to tap my phones during the very sacred election process . He said this is nixon watergate. Bad or sick guy. So set up to be a pretty busy day with us trying to figure out exactly what he means by this series of tweets. Explosive allegations. All right, kasie, thank you. Our nbc news political analyst, former Senior Policy Adviser for senator rand pauls campaign. Heres another tweet that President Trump posted. I bet a good lawyer could make a case out of the fact that president obama was tapping my phones just prior to the election. We dismiss a lot of his tweets as silly or ridiculous. But this is a bold assertion. And it looks like this is going to be something that he continues to do throughout the day. Whats he thinking . I think that he clearly is upset over all of the talk about his administrations ties with russia. And hes trying to turn the conversation by labelling people who are questioning these administration ties with russia, and the administration contacts, into the nixon. He hastened the comparison to nixon. So now everyone is doing that to him. They are rex nisant of nixon. Hes trying to change the subject . Exactly, by trying to prosecute obama and questioning surveillance powers that went through the fisa court. So this is not new information. We no that t between members of the Trump Campaign and russian officials, that under our nsa wiretapping program, that those transcripts are available, that that meta data is available. This is not new information. But he is clearly trying to take the offensive this morning. Lets put this into context. Its been quite a week. It started out to me on a positive note. He had his joint address to congress. And then came this drip, drip, drip as you were talking about with these russian allegations. In fact take a look at this screen here. We talk about the fact that five advisers during the Trump Campaign had meetings with russian officials before the inauguration. You have Jeff Sessions, michael flynn, jared kushner, carter page, j. D. Gordon. Theres a lot of smoke here, but is there any fire . And where do you see all of this going . Well i like that comparison of a drip drip drip. Now the faucet is running full and its going and its not going to stop. Thats President Trump rejecting any kind of investigation. If they were just forthright, we have nothing to hide. We were talking to russian diplomat counterparts, this could go away, if that is in fact what happened. By looking like theyre covering up something. The fact that all of these advisers have changed their stories so many times, its just a cloud of suspicion that it really is going to dog his presidency for at least the first two years as the investigation continues. Lets talk about the gallup poll that came out yesterday. We are roughly 50 days into the Trump Administration. His disapproval numbers just north of 50 . They continue to be among the lowest of any president at this point in their administration in modern history. Numbers like that, what do they do to the administrations ability to advance their agenda . Well i actually think its been a little overblown right now about his low approval ratings, i think its so early and also in a lot of the polls you can s portion of voters who might have voted for President Trump just to oppose Hillary Clinton and theyre satisfied with his policies. They may not like his personality and the way hes behaving but theyre hopeful about what his policies are going to be. If he could control his personality, such as maybe not going on a tweet storm about Sensitive National Security Issues that are plaguing his administration, perhaps he would be doing better in those approval ratings. Or accusing a former president of tapping his phones. Im sorry, going into conspiratorial territory that makes me wonder whats in President Trumps mind. Lets get to the brutally cold temperatures gripping the east coast this morning after our warm winter, its a rude awakening today. Indira is in for us. Its been pretty unbelievable, right. Thats the case. Winter is hardly behind us just yet. Heres proof of that. Just take a and here is proof. This is video in pennsylvania where 30 in a massive pile up on friday. It is early march. After he saw snapping in action, he convinced his company to invest. Then the school. The rest is now a lesson in knowing the value of a smart idea. Right place, right time. It turns out we were in a good position to make the early investment in snapchat. A small bet on a big idea paying off in a little extra school spirit. Also important to note, the school is only cashing in on about twothirds of shares. So it plans to make even more money on the remaining onethird. As for what it plans to do with that cash . Obviously they want to beef up their endowment and make improvements to infrastructure. Also important to note, nbc news universal, the Parent Company<\/a> of nbc news invested 500 million in snap. Were about to show you how much water it takes to sweep my car away. Cars washing away, drivers trapped. I was shaking, its scary. It happens fast. It overtakes you in an instant. First, the rain. From colorado to texas. Already this year, recordbreaking flooding in california, sweeping drivers away. When he hit the creek bed, it fishtailed and it just took him in seconds. Watch as just weeks ago rescuers toss a life vest to this little girl and her father trapped on the roof of their car, water rushing all around them. Thankfully they were pulled to safety. And in this new case, a family stuck in this truck, the mother desperately hanging on to her young child as a rescue swimmer latches on and pulls the toddler to safety. Incredibly everyone was saved. All across the country, the power of flood water just too ferocious. You would be surprised how little water it takes to float a car. Thats why so many people get trapped. And what happenes if you get trapped . How do you get out . You, were here in whistler on this special training course. And believe it or not. Theyre going to turn this into a raging flood. And today im playing the victim. Im going to get inside this pickup truck. Theyre going to turn the water on and were going to see how long it takes for this thing to wash away. So many people that have 4 x 4s think they can stadrive right through standing water. The big tires are like balloons, theyll float even faster. The water is so low, you can still see the cement below. When my pickup truck is swept away. Thankfully mine is tethered with strong chains, otherwise i would be barrelling out of control downstream. The water is now seeping into the car. This is crazy. And scary. I cannot open the door. To get out. I cant open the door at all. You need to roll the window down. Thats it. And thats a critical tip. Roll the window down the second the water rises. Its your only way out. What do i do . You need to get out of the truck. Get out on the roof. On to the roof . Get on to the roof of the truck. This is very scary. The water keeps pouring in as i struggle to escape. Its much harder than it looks to climb out of a window. I get out just in the nick of time in seconds the water is nearing the roof. Already over the steering wheel. But now that im on the roof, i have a new set of problems. Now what . You need to get stay low, hang on. With the truck moving youre going to have to ride with it. Do i stand up on this . No, stay low, get stable. Like this . Exactly. Can this car float . The car can flip in as much as six feet of water. Oh, my god. I need to you stay on the high side. It is so scary, with the water coming at you like this. And remember, i know this is a drill. How it must feel in a real emergency. So i should just stay with the car no matter what . Youre going to be going downstream with the car, youre going to have to wait for rescue, at least being on the roof, youve got a fighting chance if youre inside and that car flips over youve got no chance. Lifesaving advice when the flash flood strikes. The simplest advice from experts and it seems pretty basic, but not enough people are doing it . Stay out of these flooded areas alth looks calm.
