inbound memorial bridge headed to the branch of ohio drive. that activity just cleared we are hearing from the unit on scene. for the rail riders on the orange, blue and silver line, residual delays in both directions due to track repair s that were unscheduled at new market. and staying on top of an alligator attack in orlando. the alligator apparently dragged the 2-year-old into the lake. two marine units have looked all night. this happened near a disney resort in an area reportedly off limits to swimming. we expect an update from the sheriff coming up at 6:30. stay tuned for that. back to you guys. molette, thank you. the chinese embassy in d.c. is trying to track down family members after a bus filled with chinese nationals crashed along parkway. at least one person on board the bus died and many others were injuried during yesterday's crash. kristin wright is live in fairfax where those with the most serious injuries are being treated. kristin? >> reporter: right. and the reality is we could be talking about an even worse situation if it weren't for the actions of brave good samaritans. park police tell us that there were a group of good samaritans that rushed in and got that shuttle bus upright after it had collided head-on with a car, rolled over, landed on its side and slid off the gw parkway trapping passengers. this was near stratford lane around 5:00 yesterday afternoon. one person from the bus was killed, unfortunately. and 15 were hurt. police think some of the good samaritans may be military from nearby fort beldwar and think they may have >> there were 15 or 20, an unknown amount of people that stopped to help upright the bus, really a noble act by the passerbys that helped the wounded on the bus. >> reporter: yep, a noble act indeed. police want to know who they are this morning. and they are also looking for witnesses who may be able to help them put together the pieces as they begin this investigation. coming up later in the hour, what we know about the driver of that shuttle bus and the driver of that car. back to you. >> thank you, kristin. right now only one lane is getting by on eastbound i-70 because of a deadly crash. a woman was hit and killed east of route 29. the woman was in her car and then for some reason stopped and got out and she may have been hit by more than one vehicle. all of the cars that were involved did stay on the scene. police are also interviewing the passenger traveling with the victim. investigation into the terror in orlando. we are working to learn whether the wife of shooter omar mateen will face charges. she told the fbi that she was with mateen when he bought the ammunition and holster use in the mass shooting. she also drove him past the pulse nightclub to scope it out before the shooting. federal agents say she tried to prevent him from carrying out the shooting but never alerted authorities. hundreds of people turned out for a church service in orlando to pray for the families affected by the mass shooting. the survivors from the impact also attended the vigil. [ applause ] and here is the congregation giving the survivors a standing ovation. this morning we are hearing powerful stories of survival from hostages inside the club. many recall when the shooting started. they say they ran into the bathroom for shelter and that is where dozens of people would be trapped during a three-hour gunman. >> so we're all, like, scrambling around in the bathroom screaming at the top of our lungs when he was in there for the first time. and then people are getting hit by bullets, like blood is everywhere, and then there was a moment when he stopped and that's when i first realized that my leg was shot. >> another survivor said he dragged himself out of the bathroom when police arrived. in all, 49 people died in the mass shooting. and there are several vigils happening today to support the city of orlando. in d.c. there will be a vigil and fund-raiser on the north side of the white house that starts at noon. at 6:00 p.m. there will be an interfaith prayer service at the united christian parish in reston. in alexandria, leaders from the lbgt community will speak at market square at 7:00 p.m. more on today's vigils on the nbc washington app and we'll have much more on the investigation coming up in a live report at turning now to the race for the white house, hillary clinton has finished the democratic primary season with a big win in d.c. defeating bernie sanders by more than 50 points, it comes more than a week after she won enough delegates to be declared the presumptive democratic nominee. last night she met with bernie sanders as the democratic party hopes they can unify ahead of the fall campaign. in d.c. politics former mayor vincent gray is one step closer to a political comeback. something has occurred at the virginia shoreline on the outer loop of the beltway at the american legion bridge. we believe we heard this is the potential of debris. virginia authorities remain on the scene on the outer loop of the beltway at the american legion bridge still blocking the left lane with a very early and abrupt delay. traffic is diverted near route 79. orange, blue and silver line riders have delays from earlier unscheduled track repairs. over to you. new information at a deadly memorial service in oakland. a 16-year-old girl is dead this morning with three others in the hospital. the gunfire rang out in the downtown area as the same time as a large vigil, about 3,000 attendees paying respect for two boys who drowned. the large crowd spilled out into the street. the suspect fled and right now it is unclear if the shooting is in any way connected to that memorial service. eun? molette greene, thank you. manassas police are on the outlook for a man who tried to abduct a woman at a popular park. a man tried to grab a 35-year-old woman walking with her son in stonewall park on monday. police say the man fled into the wooded area after she yelled at if you notice anything or anyone suspicious in that area, contact police. the trial continues today against police officer susan goodson who is charged in the death of freddie gray. prosecutors recreating the route that he drove the day he transported gray. a police officer testified he never saw the transport make any abrupt stops. that disputes the prosecutor's claim that goodson gave gray a, quote, rough ride. gray died last year after breaking his neck inside the police transport van. and sentencing is set to begin tomorrow for a former military lawyer convicted of nearly killing a mcclain couple. jurors found andrew schmuhl guilt of all seven charges. the prosecution said this was an attack against leanne fisher who had fired his wife. his wife goes on trial in the fall. the suspect in an attack near a metro station police custody. prince george's county police put out this surveillance video last week. they say the man in the video followed a woman from the new carrollton metro station and sexually assaulted her in an office building. officers arrested jahahree chester and charged him with sexual assault. tips helped them make an arrest. and we know five people die in a giant fire in los angeles. what investigators say is the cause as well. the office building caught fire, look at the smoke and flames. the l.a. department said the homeless man started the fire after fighting with other people living inside. the man has been arrested for murder and could face other charges. today an environmental group is looking to derail the purple line in court. there's a hearing today on the 2014 lawsuit that called for the alternative route for the line to protect rare anthropod t the friends in the area want a new route designed. the 16-mile route will begin construction later this year to connect prince george's and montgomery counties. and maryland governor larry hogan is expected to make a transportation announcement this afternoon in oxnard hill. he is also taking a tour of other local businesses and projects in manassas. and we encourage you to try out the results of this study as often as you can. researchers say laughing with your baby helps them learn. makes sense, right? >> we don't have the details on the latest report. we know we work very closely with disney to remove the alligators readily as they are observed and reported. so we have a very good close working relationship with them in that regard. >> reporter: how often does this happen? >> it is hard focused on trying to find that little boy. it's not common at all. it is very rare for people to be attacked by alligators. it is very rare in florida or anywhere you find alligators. >> reporter: was the boy allowed to be in the water even for a little bit? >> i'm not familiar what the rules are in that regard. >> reporter: the sign says no swimming. are there any alerts against swimming? >> all we know is that he was on the edge of the water. so to my understanding he was not swimming. >> we have alligators in all fresh water across florida. so you can encounter an alligator. they move around. they move around. so it's really hard to say that one would be there at time. >> reporter: there are no signs for swimming, how often does that occur? >> i'm not familiar with the parameters for swimming or not swimming in that area. we are focused on trying to find that young boy. >> reporter: given the gator, how likely will you find the gator around here or the child? >> i'm optimistic we'll have success. >> you are listening to the florida wildlife and fish commission along with jeff williamson from the orange county sheriff's office. they are saying now this is a search and rescue operation. still optimistic that they could find the 2-year-old who was dragged by an alligator into the lagoon near the grand floridian resort. that the point they continue to search to know avail. >> this incident happened last night at 9:00. from what we understand, the family and young child were in an area that they were not supposed to be in that said it was off limits, no swimming. we are not hearing that the child was in the area swimming, but we are hearing he was near the water. this is a search and rescue mission at this hour. that update from officials there in orlando at disney world. >> we'll keep you up-to-date on the situation in orlando right here on "news4 today." don't leave your home without your umbrella this morning. we have light sprinkles now passing right through the immediate metro area. moving in from the north and west heading south and east, all this moving color, just light sprinkles now beginning to exit virginia and moving into frederick county, montgomery and howard county. now to prince george's and about to enter albert county and anne arundel county. it's a fast moving area of sprinkles. 4 things to know this wednesday morning, the sprinkles end in an hour. then a more humid afternoon. rain chances increase tomorrow and again on friday. then a nice father's day weekend is coming up. jack taylor, what is going on on 66? [ applause ] you can see here the congregation giving survivors a standing ovation. many of the injured victims are still in the hospital. six of them are in critical condition. there are several local vigils happening today in d.c. there will be a vigil and fund-raiser on the north side of the white house that starts at noon at 6:00 p.m. leaders from the lbgtq community will speak at market square at 7:00 p.m. and then coming up on the "today" show, first responders who rushed into the club will speak about what they experienced. the u.s. park police are looking for some good samaritans who helped rescue individuals in a deadly bus crash. they say more than a dozen people worked to upright a small bus that was filled with nationals. at least one person on board died and many others were injured on the crash near stratford lane. kristin right is live at fairfax hospital where some of the victims were taken an are being treated. >> reporter: good morning. the people who were hurt the worst were brought here to nova fairfax. three were critical. the bus and car collided yesterday around 5:00 in the afternoon head-on on the bw parkway near stratford lane. the bus overturned and slid trapping passengers. one of them died. 13 bus passengers were rushed to hospitals. the driver was not hurt and was able to talk to police. but the driver of the car and the passenger from that car were hurt and taken to the hospital. the bus was carrying visitors from china. now, in the video you will see that the bus is upright because a group of good samaritans intervened and got the bus back wounded. u.s. park police want to know who they are this morning. police are also looking for witnesses. the parkway opened back up around 1:00 this morning. the victims were taken to three different hospitals. and some of them have been allowed to leave. kristin wright, news4. back to you. now to the latest in the fight against the zika virus. there will be a community meeting in alexandria tonight that they will let you know what it's doing to keep mosquitoes away. that begins at 6:30 at the lee center on jefferson street. and a world health organization official says the rio olympics will not impact the spread of the zika virus. they say it is barely spreading now because of cooler weather since it is winter in brazil. zika is active in 40 countries including much of latin america and the caribbean. well, the good weather had to come to an end sometime. >> we enjoyed it while it lasted for sure. >> it was amazing. now here we go, with the humidity coming back, it is june, it is washington. it is inevitable. and there's light rain now falling, just a few sprinkles moving on the storm team 4 radar. these are very fast moving sprinkles now coming out of virginia into maryland. the district heading off to the south and east crossing the bay here over the next hour. but it is drying out across northern virginia now. a little bit of sunshine breaking out there. we'll see the sun breaking out a little bit later this morning. right now temperatures are generally in the mid to upper 06s. most of maryland and virginia right near the bay as well as the shellen doe washington valley, the shenandoah valley. the cubs and nats going at it, first pitch at 4:05 in the low 80s. by 6:00 p.m. near the seventh inning, in the upper 70s. you will notice it rather steamy humidity. then by 8:00 p.m. as you're leaving the game, if it doesn't go to extra innings, back down to the mid-70s. likely not a delay. but there is the possibility of a shower o this evening. and by dawn tomorrow, maybe a few showers tomorrow. a little sun midday thursday. highs reaching the upper 07s, 70s. tomorrow is the next best chance for heavy downpours and storms. that's thursday night into early friday morning. lingering showers midday friday. a little sun back in the afternoon with highs in the mid-70s. then a wonderful weekend coming up for the father's day weekend. saturday and sunshine near 80. father's day itself, sunshine in the mid-80s. not going to get hot until monday in the 90s. jack taylor, how is the traffic looking? inbound memorial bridge headed to the branch of ohio drive. that activity just cleared we are hearing from the unit on scene. for the rail riders on the orange, blue and silver line, residual delays in both directions due to track repair s that were unscheduled at new market. and staying on top of an alligator attack in orlando. the alligator apparently dragged the 2-year-old into the lake. two marine units have looked all night. this happened near a disney resort in an area reportedly off limits to swimming. we expect an update from the sheriff coming up at 6:30. stay tuned for that. back to you guys. molette, thank you. the chinese embassy in d.c. is trying to track down family members after a bus filled with chinese nationals crashed along parkway. at least one person on board the bus died and many others were injuried during yesterday's crash. kristin wright is live in fairfax where those with the most serious injuries are being treated. kristin? >> reporter: right. and the reality is we could be talking about an even worse situation if it weren't for the actions of brave good samaritans. park police tell us that there were a group of good samaritans that rushed in and got that shuttle bus upright after it had collided head-on with a car, rolled over, landed on its side and slid off the gw parkway trapping passengers. this was near stratford lane around 5:00 yesterday afternoon. one person from the bus was killed, unfortunately. and 15 were hurt. police think some of the good samaritans may be military from nearby fort beldwar and think they may have >> there were 15 or 20, an unknown amount of people that stopped to help upright the bus, really a noble act by the passerbys that helped the wounded on the bus. >> reporter: yep, a noble act indeed. police want to know who they are this morning. and they are also looking for witnesses who may be able to help them put together the pieces as they begin this investigation. coming up later in the hour, what we know about the driver of that shuttle bus and the driver of that car. back to you. >> thank you, kristin. right now only one lane is getting by on eastbound i-70 because of a deadly crash. a woman was hit and killed east of route 29. the woman was in her car and then for some reason stopped and got out and she may have been hit by more than one vehicle. all of the cars that were involved did stay on the scene. police are also interviewing the passenger traveling with the victim. investigation into the terror in orlando. we are working to learn whether the wife of shooter omar mateen will face charges. she told the fbi that she was with mateen when he bought the ammunition and holster use in the mass shooting. she also drove him past the pulse nightclub to scope it out before the shooting. federal agents say she tried to prevent him from carrying out the shooting but never alerted authorities. hundreds of people turned out for a church service in orlando to pray for the families affected by the mass shooting. the survivors from the impact also attended the vigil. something has occurred at the virginia shoreline on the outer loop of the beltway at the american legion bridge. we believe we heard this is the potential of debris. virginia authorities remain on the scene on the outer loop of the beltway at the american legion bridge still blocking the left lane with a very early and abrupt delay. traffic is diverted near route 79. orange, blue and silver line riders have delays from earlier unscheduled track repairs. over to you. new information at a deadly memorial service in oakland. a 16-year-old girl is dead this morning with three others in the hospital. the gunfire rang out in the downtown area as the same time as a large vigil, about 3,000 attendees paying respect for two boys who drowned. the large crowd spilled out into the street. the suspect fled and right now it is unclear if the shooting is in any way connected to that memorial service. eun? molette greene, thank you. manassas police are on the outlook for a man who tried to abduct a woman at a popular park. a man tried to grab a 35-year-old woman walking with her son in stonewall park on monday. police say the man fled into the wooded area after she yelled at if you notice anything or anyone suspicious in that area, contact police. the trial continues today against police officer susan goodson who is charged in the death of freddie gray. prosecutors recreating the route that he drove the day he transported gray. a police officer testified he never saw the transport make any abrupt stops. that disputes the prosecutor's claim that goodson gave gray a, quote, rough ride. gray died last year after breaking his neck inside the police transport van. and sentencing is set to begin tomorrow for a former military lawyer convicted of nearly killing a mcclain couple. jurors found andrew schmuhl guilt of all seven charges. the prosecution said this was an attack against leanne fisher who had fired his wife. his wife goes on trial in the fall. the suspect in an attack near a metro station police custody. prince george's county police put out this surveillance video last week. they say the man in the video followed a woman from the new carrollton metro station and sexually assaulted her in an office building. officers arrested jahahree chester and charged him with sexual assault. tips helped them make an arrest. and we know five people die in a giant fire in los angeles. what investigators say is the cause as well. the office building caught fire, look at the smoke and flames. the l.a. department said the homeless man started the fire after fighting with other people living inside. the man has been arrested for murder and could face other charges. today an environmental group is looking to derail the purple line in court. there's a hearing today on the 2014 lawsuit that called for the alternative route for the line to protect rare anthropod t the friends in the area want a new route designed. the 16-mile route will begin construction later this year to connect prince george's and montgomery counties. and maryland governor larry hogan is expected to make a transportation announcement this afternoon in oxnard hill. he is also taking a tour of other local businesses and projects in manassas. and we encourage you to try out the results of this study as often as you can. researchers say laughing with your baby helps them learn. makes sense, right? >> we don't have the details on the latest report. we know we work very closely with disney to remove the alligators readily as they are observed and reported. so we have a very good close working relationship with them in that regard. >> reporter: how often does this happen? >> it is hard focused on trying to find that little boy. it's not common at all. it is very rare for people to be attacked by alligators. it is very rare in florida or anywhere you find alligators. >> reporter: was the boy allowed to be in the water even for a little bit? >> i'm not familiar what the rules are in that regard. >> reporter: the sign says no swimming. are there any alerts against swimming? >> all we know is that he was on the edge of the water. so to my understanding he was not swimming. >> we have alligators in all fresh water across florida. so you can encounter an alligator. they move around. they move around. so it's really hard to say that one would be there at time. >> reporter: there are no signs for swimming, how often does that occur? >> i'm not familiar with the parameters for swimming or not swimming in that area. we are focused on trying to find that young boy. >> reporter: given the gator, how likely will you find the gator around here or the child? >> i'm optimistic we'll have success. >> you are listening to the florida wildlife and fish commission along with jeff williamson from the orange county sheriff's office. they are saying now this is a search and rescue operation. still optimistic that they could find the 2-year-old who was dragged by an alligator into the lagoon near the grand floridian resort. that the point they continue to search to know avail. >> this incident happened last night at 9:00. from what we understand, the family and young child were in an area that they were not supposed to be in that said it was off limits, no swimming. we are not hearing that the child was in the area swimming, but we are hearing he was near the water. this is a search and rescue mission at this hour. that update from officials there in orlando at disney world. >> we'll keep you up-to-date on the situation in orlando right here on "news4 today." don't leave your home without your umbrella this morning. we have light sprinkles now passing right through the immediate metro area. moving in from the north and west heading south and east, all this moving color, just light sprinkles now beginning to exit virginia and moving into frederick county, montgomery and howard county. now to prince george's and about to enter albert county and anne arundel county. it's a fast moving area of sprinkles. 4 things to know this wednesday morning, the sprinkles end in an hour. then a more humid afternoon. rain chances increase tomorrow and again on friday. then a nice father's day weekend is coming up. jack taylor, what is going on on 66? "dominion. depend on us for more than energy." ♪ stand by me. good morning. it is 6:41 on this wednesday morning. we have sprinkles out of virginia into maryland and the panhandle of west virginia quickly tracking to the east/southeast. it will be with us for an hour and then will exit the metro area with sunshine breaking out later on. waiting at the bus stop, sprinkles end by 8:00 this mog. then by 9:00, we have sunshine breaking out up near 70 degrees. a look at the nice father's day weekend is coming in ten minutes. jack taylor, how is the commute now? well, we've got a new accident out of the village on montgomery village headed down to 270. before you get to the ramp 270 there's a crash on the right side that goes beyond it that you can access from 270. we have a crash up on air park road to muncaster mill road. you will find we have an accident there so authorities have closed air park road in both directions. so no access coming off shady road. brandywine near shortcut road, the accident has one lane getting by. back to you. right now we are watching a developing story in orlando ere a frantic search is underway for a toddler dragged away by an alligator at disney world. we are tracking the developments from the live desk next. we are also tracking developments in the orlando club shooting. what the wife of the gunman may have known. plus, don't call it a comeback. vincent gray's big night right now we are watching a number of developments in the latest story of a toddler dragged off by an alligator in florida. now to tom kierein with the forecast. >> we have showers moving out of the northwest passing across the chesapeake bay over the next hour and exiting the metro area. looking at a nice father's day weekend coming up in five minutes. and we have an update right now on that alligator attack at a disney world resort. >> molette greene has been listening to the news conference about the search for a missing 2-year-old boy. she's at the live desk. >> we just got an update on the search. no sign yet of that toddler. about 15 minutes ago the fish and wildlife service told us this is a rare event. they are considering this search a search and rescue so far crews have taken four alligators out of the lake near disney's resort to be able to find the boy. the gators were euthanized. >> we just want to keep searching, ma'am, we want to keep searching and searching and searching until we just can't search anymore. >> we have learned this happened to a family of five from nebraska. the boy was with his father near a lagoon in an area that is considered off limits to swimming. that's the latest. back to you. thank you, molette. terror in orlando, this morning we are learning more about the shooter omar mateen's wife and her role in the massacre. the fbi agents say she was there for critical stages in the planning process. with more on that story, let's go to nbc's stephanie gosk live in fort pierce. stephanie, good morning. >> reporter: eun,oo these details are likely to deepen the pain for family and friends who are going to be asking the question like we all are asking, what could have been done to stop omar mateen? now the news that his wife is saying she may have known about the planning, that she tried to talk him out of it. according to fishes that are familiar with conversations she's having with the fbi, and she didn't warn police. now, she hasn't been charged with anything. we are told that she is cooperating. she's giving those details as you mentioned and said she actually accompanied omar mateen on at least one scouting trip to the pulse nightclub. that she also went with him as he was buying ammunition and a holster. again, a lot of questions about how much she knew at the time and did she have a legal responsibility to report it at the time? eun, back to you. >> stephanie gosk live in fort pierce this morning. be sure to check out and hundreds turned out to pray for those affected in sunday's mass shooting. some survivors also attended that vigil. [ applause ] you can see here the congregation giving survivors a standing ovation. many of the injured victims are still in the hospital. six of them are in critical condition. there are several local vigils happening today in d.c. there will be a vigil and fund-raiser on the north side of the white house that starts at noon at 6:00 p.m. leaders from the lbgtq community will speak at market square at 7:00 p.m. and then coming up on the "today" show, first responders who rushed into the club will speak about what they experienced. the u.s. park police are looking for some good samaritans who helped rescue individuals in a deadly bus crash. they say more than a dozen people worked to upright a small bus that was filled with nationals. at least one person on board died and many others were injured on the crash near stratford lane. kristin right is live at fairfax hospital where some of the victims were taken an are being treated. >> reporter: good morning. the people who were hurt the worst were brought here to nova fairfax. three were critical. the bus and car collided yesterday around 5:00 in the afternoon head-on on the bw parkway near stratford lane. the bus overturned and slid trapping passengers. one of them died. 13 bus passengers were rushed to hospitals. the driver was not hurt and was able to talk to police. but the driver of the car and the passenger from that car were hurt and taken to the hospital. the bus was carrying visitors from china. now, in the video you will see that the bus is upright because a group of good samaritans intervened and got the bus back wounded. u.s. park police want to know who they are this morning. police are also looking for witnesses. the parkway opened back up around 1:00 this morning. the victims were taken to three different hospitals. and some of them have been allowed to leave. kristin wright, news4. back to you. now to the latest in the fight against the zika virus. there will be a community meeting in alexandria tonight that they will let you know what it's doing to keep mosquitoes away. that begins at 6:30 at the lee center on jefferson street. and a world health organization official says the rio olympics will not impact the spread of the zika virus. they say it is barely spreading now because of cooler weather since it is winter in brazil. zika is active in 40 countries including much of latin america and the caribbean. well, the good weather had to come to an end sometime. >> we enjoyed it while it lasted for sure. >> it was amazing. now here we go, with the humidity coming back, it is june, it is washington. it is inevitable. and there's light rain now falling, just a few sprinkles moving on the storm team 4 radar. these are very fast moving sprinkles now coming out of virginia into maryland. the district heading off to the south and east crossing the bay here over the next hour. but it is drying out across northern virginia now. a little bit of sunshine breaking out there. we'll see the sun breaking out a little bit later this morning. right now temperatures are generally in the mid to upper 06s. most of maryland and virginia right near the bay as well as the shellen doe washington valley, the shenandoah valley. the cubs and nats going at it, first pitch at 4:05 in the low 80s. by 6:00 p.m. near the seventh inning, in the upper 70s. you will notice it rather steamy humidity. then by 8:00 p.m. as you're leaving the game, if it doesn't go to extra innings, back down to the mid-70s. likely not a delay. but there is the possibility of a shower o this evening. and by dawn tomorrow, maybe a few showers tomorrow. a little sun midday thursday. highs reaching the upper 07s, 70s. tomorrow is the next best chance for heavy downpours and storms. that's thursday night into early friday morning. lingering showers midday friday. a little sun back in the afternoon with highs in the mid-70s. then a wonderful weekend coming up for the father's day weekend. saturday and sunshine near 80. father's day itself, sunshine in the mid-80s. not going to get hot until monday in the 90s. jack taylor, how is the traffic looking?
