into the 20s near freezing. shenandoah valley to the bay. and nearby suburbs are in the upper 20s. in the low 30s right in washington. and hour-by-hour as we get into the afternoon later in the morning by 10:00 near 50 degrees. upper 60s as we get into the middle of this afternoon. a look at how much longer this warm wave will last. that's coming up in a few minutes. >> all right. looks nice. we'll check in with you then. to this developing story, this is out of manassas. investigating a deadly stabbing. someone attacked and killed a woman around 6:30 on forester lane. they say another man, a victim as well is in a local hospital fighting for his life. the incident appears to be domestic related. in the district, police are investigating a deadly shooting. this happened on 12th street northeast around 12:30 last night. they have not released the name and no one's been arrested in this case. the district's death with dignity law is set to take effect today despite attempts by republicans to shut down the measure. the period ended without a joint house and senate measure that would have it allows doctors to apply lethal medication to terminal patients. congress can still try to prevent the measure from getting funding. president trump is hoping a rally today will give him new momentum. he's waking up in his mar-a-lago estate in palm beach, florida. it's the third straight weekend that air force one has taken the president there. this afternoon he's going to fly to melbourne, florida, to give a speech. this is expected to look like one of those campaign events. yesterday he made a stop in south carolina for the unveiling of a new boeing jet. and president trump remained active on his personal twitter account. last night he tweeted out about today's rally in florida. he said he's looking forward to it and a big crowd is expected. hour before that, he tweeted about his press conference on thursday. he referenced rush limbaugh and then called other fake and dishonest. the fake newsdia is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the american people. >> vice president mike pence is in germany. he offered clues to u.s. allies as to how the trump administration plans to deal with russia in the aftermath as the national security adviser. her said the united states will, quote, hold russia accountable. end quote. even as president trump searches for new common ground with that country. pence also had this message. >> if the past century has taught us anything. it's that peace and prosperity in europe and the authority atlantic can never be regarded or achieved. it can be maintained through shared sacrifice and shared commitment. peace only comes through strength. >> the vice president also saying that the u.s. remains strongly supportive of nato. he is meeting with german chancellor a police in malaysia have made an arrest in the death of kim jong-nam. they arrested a north korean man last night. malaysian media reporting that the officials plan to do a second autopsy. the first one was inconclusive. north korea said it would categorically reject the autopsy report from malaysia. nam told medical workers before he died that he was sprayed with a chemical. members of congress are being warned to be vigilant this weekend. this warning comes from the house sergeant at arms. in a memo sent to members, they are reminded to remain vigilant in their home districts. does not specify any threat in particular, but is asking them to notify police before staging public events. and it warns members to be alert if their home enter private buildings near temple university. they say a dozen officers were actually coated with spray paint and mace. two of the officers had to go to the hospital. police say four arrests were made. the head of the world's largest technology company is now facing bribery charges. today the samsung chief jea lee arrived at a police office. led to the impeach. of south korea's president. he's exercise this morning, you're going to need a warm jacket through about 9:00. we'll be in the mid-40s by noon. but noontime, it'll be up around 60 degrees. lots of sunshine, a light wind. just a wonderful day to get out and get some outdoor exercise. we'll be in the upper 60s by mid-afternoon. a look at this warm trend, how long it'll last, your president's day forecast and the weekend ahead in just a few this past week the growing issue of gangs in our region took center stage. sparked tragically by the brutal murder of a 15-year-old girl from gaithersburg. ten suspects have been arrested in that case, most of them juveniles. shows the areas of gang activity in our region. in maryland officials say there are growing numbers of ms-13 members in montgomery county and prince georges county. then head into the district. ms-13 and king street gangs are concentrated in northwest and southeast. they have held initiations in public parks. northern virginia as you can see here, the problem widespread. gang activity has been tracked in just about every jurisdiction there. this as we've uncovered court documents revealing how gang members are luring their young victims. it is a frightening technique connected to two recent murders. >> reporter: fairfax county police say they've arrested all ten suspects alexandra reyes' murder. investigators found the 15-year-old's body last saturday. but it was the murder of christian sosa rivas in prince william county that helped fairfax solve alexandra's case. christian's killers are still out there. >> the victim was lured down to where he was and killed. >> reporter: this search warrant filed in court alleged he had himself to be a leader of an ms-13 clique. it seems that didn't settle well with other gang leaders who contacted him questioning his rank. those leaders then used social media accounts, a female associate to lure out unsuspecting victims. luring him away from this normal surroundings. police say he was then murdered. >> we're still investigating today. >> reporter: at a press conference, both local and federal law enforcement warning of the growing gang threat. and who they're trying to influence. >> we are seeing a lot of increase in which is alarming to us. >> reporter: police do not believe randomuden are being targeted. but what's being said inside schools and online is helping investigators track gang activity. >> wech school resource officers that are in the schools. they are present there. you'd be surprised how much information is gathered. >> no doubt some questions are raised after you see a report like that. for one, why is it we're seeing an increase when it comes to gang activity in our area? second, how can it be stopped? these are questions we'll bring to the northern virginia regional gang task force director when he joins us live in our 9:00 hour of news4 today. >> very important conversation to be had today. all systems are a go for this morning's spacex launch of the falcon 9 rocket. >> the rocket could take them one more step closer to man travel to mars if you can b the scenes at spacex. >> reporter: elon musk and his team of engineers at spacex have a dream of going to mars. and the launch here is a big step to getting there. this morning spacex engineers think they're highly confident. but it is rocket science, after all. a tough reminder of that last september when one of the spacex rockets blew up on the launch pad. caused by a highly technical fueling problem. but elon musk, a real live tony stark, is undeterred. his team back at it again this morning. the mission? to resupply the international space station. but this weekend's launch of a reusable rocket, one step closer to his grand idea to send humans to mars. but tuesday, the mid-50s. then here comes another warm wave. might get some morning showers as the warm front returns. and then some sun back on sunday with highs in the mid-60s. on thursday, friday, and topnotch. >> we have some things for the passengers in the car when they're not driving so they can have an exciting ride. >> reporter: this is a prototype of what the visors will look like. they'll have a device embedded into them much like a cell phone with photo and video cameras and touch screens that offer different camera views. the idea here is in a self-driving car, you're going to have some time on your hands. so one of the fun features of this visor is you can set it up to take a selfie and post on social media. >> share with people on facebook, twitter, instagram. you can even conference chat with other people you want to talk with. >> reporter: with the press of a button, the camera turns outside like a dash cam but minimizing sun glare. >> if something wrong is going on or suspicious, you can jco it. >> reporter: and press another button, you'll see the view of your rear passengers. it can be powered by the car battery or their own batteries and the unit will be removable. and visors can be added for back seat passengers too. >> they can play games on this and take photos from outside. since you're not driving and you see that's a nice view. you can click a picture from outside. >> reporter: they hope to expand the concept to existing cars though the driver's camera would be disabled for selfies, games, or social media while the car is in motion. >> that region. on this saturday. we have clear skies starting over. overlooking national harbor on this saturday morning. all is calm and quiet there on the potomac river. we have a clear sky and temperatures right near freezing. most of maryland and virginia upper 20s. reagan national is at 33. we're in the low 30s around the chesapeake bay and in southern maryland. hour-by-hour temperatures, by 10:00 will be near 50 degrees. near 60 by noon. hitting the mid and upper 60s by mid-afternoon. so quite a dramatic warming on the way. a look at our warm pattern here over the next ten days. rochelle avenue. police say they do have one person in custody. they have not released any identities in this case. but they say it appears to be domestic related. happening right now, a brutal storm is causing damage in southern california. check out how all the heavy rain created this water fall in glendale. that's not even the worst of the problems. shows us why some homeowners are now headed to higher ground. >> reporter: dramatic cell phone video of the basins filling up. after his gas meter got sheered off and buried under four feet of rock. >> they evacuated everybody in the know. a 55-year-old man when a power line cameow the man suffered an electrical shock and later died at the hospital. in studio city, a 20 foot wide sinkhole swallowed two cars. wow. look at this dramatic video here. both drivers, good news, they were not hurt. but firefighters had to rescue one woman who narrowly escaped her car. all of a sudden the ground gave in, it gave way. and her air bags deployed and water started to fill her car. she managed to climb on top of that car. officials say her car fell down about ten feet. >> that is incredible. very scary there. to fairfax county now where a dance teacher is charged with having sex with one of his students. police say the girl was just 14 years old. investigators are trying to figure out if there are possibly more victims of the teacher. he is 19-year-old. the owner of the adrenaline dance studio called police to repor manassas. and a teacher in falls church is accused of allegedly abusing children. faces two counts of aggravated sexual battery. he taught math at mary allen henderson middle school. a female student reported the abuse. the school then removed him from his teaching position and placed him on leave. detectives, well, they want to hear from anyone whose child might have had inappropriate contact with estrada. too many employees calling in sick is costing metro money. has to pay overtime to cover some people's shifts. last year the number of sick and unpaid leave days jumped by 6%. metro is changing how it approves employee leave. the general manager said he hopes it will save the agency $2 million a year. keeping teens safe on the road. we're going to tell you about the new initiative that could have a big impact on young local high end stores t they may soon have an earlier curfew. in maryland lawmakers are considering a bill that would change the night driving curfew from midnight and move it up to 10:00 p.m. for drivers under the age of 18. supports the bill. it may prevent crashes like this one in damascus last year. three teens were killed when the 17-year-old driver ran off the road. police think the driver may have been speeding. something you need to check your kitchen for. sarjento is recalling its cheeses due to a possible contamination. they expanded the recall to includse you can sees s the potential listeria contamination originated from the supplier's go in armed with pepper spray, threaten employees, and make off with thousands in bags, clothing, and accessories. two more incidents just happened this week. jackie benson has the details you'll only see on news4. >> she smiled at me and said have a great day as she sprayed in my face. >> reporter: these are images of persons of interest. a series of threat incidents at luxury good stores in georgetown. the most recent happened just this week at torrey birch and kate spade. during that crime, pepper spray was used on a security officer who tried to intervene. >> that is so important that we get information from the public. >> reporter: commander morgan cain of the d.c. police station said detectives recently got a tip that resulted in two arrests for similar incidents at city center in downtown d.c. in january thieves held employees at a store and grabs thousands in price write goods and ran. believed to hit the gucci store. police revealed these surveillance photos saying they're trying to identify this person. the commander said the georgetown crimes are now the focus of a regional effort. >> he's worked with our partners in montgomery county and in virginia. they're having the same issue. >> reporter: the employee from the georgetown store hit in december says she's glad to know something's being done. >> i had really horrible anxiety, obviously, after that. and i didn't feel, like, safe in my store. and i know other employees felt the same way. >> reporter: jackie benson, news4. at 6:45, a grieving family calling for answers following a valentine's day killing. this was in green belt. martin's family and friends sang prayers and lit candles outside prince ge tuesday on breezewood drive. he was on his way to deliver someone at the time. it was the day before his 21st birthday. >> he didn't even get a chance to even turn 21. an age that all of us look towards. he never got that chance because -- no one even knows because of what. >> no arrest. the families are going to raise money to send his body back to his home country of cameroon. a couple moved from miami to get away from the zika virus are now among those in d.c. to be retested for the virus. that's because d.c. officials now say 409 tests were botched between july and december. those patients were originally told they tested negative for zika. melissa and brandon leavitt are worried because they thought they were in the clear for months. a false sense of security for the last seven or eight months. >> to hear that, wait. this test may have given you a false negative. it's really scary. >> well, so far d.c. officials say two women do have the zika virus after being retested. monday is presidents' day and mount vernon is celebrating all weekend long. the events include a breakfast with george washington this morning. that starts at 9:00. other events will range from dancing demonstrations to wreath laying ceremonies. also a celebration of george washington's 285th also owned famous pieces of art. >> that's right. and today it is all going up for auction in falls church, virginia. kristin wright shows us what's merchandise the remarkable colleco >> i think ou symphony. early work and also dark. >> reporter: what you see when you stare at a merton simpson painting is up to you. but we know he stood strong for civil rights on life and on campus. >> the social injustice really just captured him and he took to it and you can see that in all of his paintings. >> reporter: merton died in 2013 leaving behind an extensive collection. 40 of merton's pieces will go to the highest bidders at quinn auction galleries in falls church saturday. >> the african-american segment of art is really hot. there's a lot of flying emotion right now. >> reporter: the collection includes merton's 1970 painting cops to capture struggles with police. and also his 1960s confrontation series inspired by the harlem riot. >> i think they're generally a representation of the battle of the african-american community throughout the civil rights movement. >> reporter: not every piece in merton. some of them were pieces that he owned. pieces that were special to him like this one given to him by his dearest mentor. merton was a member of a group. he was also a well known african and tribal art dealer. in falls church, virginia, kristin wright, news4. >> some beautiful
