following the decision in the michael brown case. there was still some violence as protesters set a police car on fire late last night. national guard troops helped to keep the peace. we received an update just a few hours ago. there were 44 arrests. most of them were simple misdemeanors. tear gas had to be used. but there was no gunshots or arson. officers were questioned about whether they underestimated the threat last night and whether they should have done more. >> none of us could imagine last night would be what it was last night. and i heard that throughout today. knupp of us could have imagined last night was going whob what it was. if we had a crystal ball, we probably would have done something different. but we nephew imagined that. the president called those actions criminal. he said the people who carried them out should be prosecuted. the president made the comments in chicago yesterday. he said he understands the community's anger over the decision but violence is not the way to protest it. . it is not just ferguson. across the country, people are demonstrating showing how they are upset about the grand jury's decision. marching, even looting being reported. we're just getting more tweets into the newsroom watch withing how these protesters are still in the street out on the west coast. we have been seeing protests from the east to west coast demonstrators chanted, justice for mike brown. protesters marched through map hat tan and times square. they were met by a full force of police officers. over on the west coast, just getting reports in that the lapd is ready to make more arrests. there were some protesters who broke away from a larger, more peaceful group and flooded a busy highway. they stopped traffic with using barricade. out in oakland, be police vandalized police cars and businesses and set trash bins on fire before police moved in with riot helmets and pushed them back. here, about a dozen arrests are being reported. >> thank you, molette. we are hearing from officer darren wilson. he said brown punched him several times and attempted to grab his gun. he said that's when he did what he thought he hadded to. >> is family feel better. they said they will pursue federal charges. police looking for the person who shot a young girl. they are looking for a four door black honda. that girl is expected to be. protests. vandals did manage to overturn this police car and set it on fire. 44 people were arrested. they said no gunshots were heard and no additional arson. governor jay dixon trimmed the number of troops of national guard. their main job was to protect businesses from destruction while police protected citizens themselves. here in d.c., 2,000 protesters took to the streets. they marched from mountain vernon square. protesters say they feel the system is stacked up against them. >> this is a system that is not broken. it is a system made not to work for us. >> they were joined by other minority groups, including asian-americans and say, they, too, are victims of racial profiling. following a developing story a respected u.s. drone strike takes out four alleged militants. we're just originally taken into custody on a bogus gun charge, thus violating his rights. the trial for severance is set for 2015 >> a construction worker is safe after being trapped in a trench collapse. he was buried to his chest in dirt there. montgomery county urban search and rescue helped firefighters dig the man out by hand yesterday. they took two hours but got him out okay. fairfax could be facing a big budget deficit. county officials estimate that deficit to be $179 million the next two years. they blame sequestration last spring as well as a weak commercial real estate market. officials say they need $64 million more than the city budget to stay competitive. the two sides will north korea in the coming months to close that budget gap. speculation is around terry mcauliffe. some believe he is promoting hillary clinton as a 2016 presidential candidate. but mcauliffe tells the "washington post" it is to celebrate wins in the november election. protection canceled in june after five native americans filed a complete with the trademark office. the redskins sued the group in august. that group asked for the lawsuit to be thrown out saying the team should be suing the
