St. Marys in the upper 50s. Much of Montgomery County off to school this morning there, the second day, in the upper 50s to near 60. And near Northern Virginia, we are, in most places, 50 is the cool spot. 53 in warrenton. We are scanning the sky. No rain around. And this was yesterday morning. A little vail of light fog over a field in southern falkier county. I love to read your comments and see photos on facebook and instagram. Thats how you can connecwi me. As we look for the afternoon, beautiful summer day. Gorgeous late august weather. The upper 80s by midafternoon with low humidity. Enjoy. You need the shades. A light southerly breeze around 5 to 10. Then tomorrow, summer returns big time. We will soar into the low 90s during the afternoon. And a little more humid. Then turning less humid again, pleasant, thursday and friday in the mid80s. For the Labor Day Weekend on saturday, sunday and again on monday, each day will be up around 90 degrees. Great weather at the beaches. Temperatures there in the 70s. The next chance for rain not until labor day monday, mainly during the afternoon with scattered thundershowers. Breaking news on the roads with melissa. Heading into the district, 395 northbound at the 14th street bridge, we still have a problem with the crash and the response taking up two lanes here. Only two getting by. It really is jammed as you head across the bridge. You can see that right here on the wider map of the beltway. Otherwise looking pretty normal. Slow at the top of the beltway. Colesville road, we expect this for this time of the day. 66 at 95 moving at 40 miles an hour at this point this morning. Prince georges county side of the roadway looking good as folks head back to class this morning. 270 near Montgomery Village avenue, the southbound lanes here, southbound from germantown road north of here down to the beltway is running 20 minutes at this point this morning. Not really too bad. Remember, just follow u us first4traffic for your shot at a 125 gas gift card. Or you can like us on facebook at nbcwashington and perhaps win a car and driver for a week. Just tell us why you deserve it. Again, eun and aaron, you are not eligible for this. Too bad. Unless you get fired. I dont think you want that to happen. Two hours ago vdot crews finished this problem in centreville. We first showed you the crooked line stripes from chopper 4 yesterday morning that caused confusion there on i66 near route 29. Vdot says brand new stripes that were laid down last week peeled off the road creating all the squiggly lines you see there. Crews spent the night replacing them so there should not be any problems this morning, but melissa is on it. Well let you know how things are moving. Starting today veterans who received purple hearts can park closer to the entrance of st. Marys government center. Leaders are installing special signs there. 50 will be installed at the countyowned facilities. Purple hearts are given to soldiers hurt while serving in the military. Today the d. C. Council will hold a hearing about expanding a csx tunnel under the southeast freeway. This applies to the virginia avenue tunnel. The council asked vdot to postpone the decision until september. People living in the area dont want the expansion because of the longterm construction and pollution. The tunnel needs to be updated to better serve the area. The meeting begins at 11 30 at the d. C. Council chamber this morning. Right now four things to know before heading out the door this morning, we learn today whether the redskins starters play against the buccaneers this week. They have had a soso showing and the team must cut more players by todays roster deadline. No a few hours, prosecutors will grill Bob Mcdonnell on the stand in his former prosecution trial. He and his wife face four counts of corruption. We are there following the latest developments. And the shooters in woodbridge are no longer in our area. Dewayne williams shot someone in the face and the woman on the left is his accomplice. And Prince Georges County schools are back in session. 800 new teachers. A new school in hyattsville, an elementary school, and a lot of new programs. And 50 shades of fabulous today. Afternoon highs into the mid to upper 80s. A lot of sunshine, low humidity. And look at it hotter tomorrow. Then less humid on thursday and friday. And slow spots around town. 395 northbound heading into d. C. Near the 14th street bridge, very slow after an earlier crash. Only two lanes getting by. When you take a wider look at things, slow as you can expect up at colesville road and to d. C. 95 passing 50. Thank you. Thats our show for this morning. We appreciate you spending time with us. The today show is next. Well be back in 25 minutes with weather, traffic and any breaking news. We hope you join us then. Until then, have a great day. See you tomorrow. Make it a great tuda everybod
