Theyre also having trouble closing off some of the valves to the water is still flowing to the broken pipe. Lanes are closed on veirs mill road just north of connecticut avenue. If you look to the side of the road, you can also see were having some issues with icing. It began yesterday as a crack in a 24inch pipe under veirs mill road. Then early this morning, a joint burst, creating a larger problem. Water that froze onto the sidewalk, knocked Carolyn Gupta off her feet. I got up to the grass, laid reporter crews did treat the sidewalk. Salt trucks will remain on standby until repair is finished. Meantime, veirs mill road is down to one lane. And the impact will likely be felt for much of the day. Once the water is out, typically six hours or so, its definitely going to be all day today. Firefighters are making sure theres no damage to the environment and also are on standby in case of any no one was hurt, not in rockville or potomac, where a chicken choop caught fire. Firefighters say some chickens died. The Fire Department has not said how the fire started. Another student has come forward saying he was a victim of sexual abuse at judge sylvania woods elementary school. Parents packed the school last night wanting an explanation of how 22yearold Deonte Carraway could abuse at least a dozen victims and go undetected. The mother of an 11yearold victim has also filed a new civil lawsuit. Meanwhile leaders in Prince Georges County schools are taking action to try to prevent future abuse. Marylands court of appeals has been asked to review the chases of five officers whose trials could hinge on whether a sixth officer could be forced to testify against them. Investigators are trying to figure out if this could be a case of homeground extremism. Here is nbcs Pete Williams. Reporter frightening moments for diners at a columbus, ohio restaurant on thursday, when a man wielding a machete began randomly attacking customers. Weve got at least four injured, if you could send four medics. Reporter police say the man walked boo tinto the nazareth restaurant, had a conversation with an employee, then came back a half hour later. Police say he approached a couple sitting at a booth just inside. This was a brutal attack. He walks to people who are just there having dinner and starts attacking them. Some of the patrons there started throwing chairs at him, just trying to get him out of there. Reporter after the attack, the man drove away car, leading police on a chase. Are you behind him . That was the car following him.
