live at dulles airport. the next air flight franrance f paris is about to take off. >> security is heightened, passengers flying out of the nation's capital well aware of a bomb threat on a flight on tuesday. bruce and jill johnson of dc found out this morning. >> we expected additional security precautions. >> dulles air france flight still has not made it to paris. it diverted to nova scotia, canada. and another flight made a emergency landing in salt lake city after a bomb threat. back at dulles, pam young is about to get on a plane to florida. >> i just have trust in the system. >> and they are more aware given recent events and busy holiday travel season about to begin. >> it's a little nerve racking but i think it is safe. >> there are awful occurrences such as happened in paris, i think that frequently we find people making baseless threats. >> the dulles flight that diverted to canada is supposed to leave nova scotia tonight, the other flight is already on it's way to paris. >> thank you, kristin. right now on capitol hill, a hearing on threats to oklahomaland security. this happening at a joint meeting of the house foreign affairs and homeland security committees. lawmakers are focusing on the threats to our national security. >> providing safe harbor to individuals who no longer have a home because of war and violence, is a humane and american thing to do. >> lawmakers added that there are people born and raised in america capable of doing the country harm. >> now on the hill, this one on security conditions overseas. john kerry is part of it. also being discussed is hostage policy. and security tightening up within the district. homeland security jay johnson will brief dc lawmakers a little later on this midday. the fbi is ramping up it's efforts, agents are paying special attention to the 800 names on the terror watch list. the agency knows of 50 terror suspects already in the u.s., agents are intensifying surveillance on them. >> our coverage tonight. board members approved some major redevelopment to ballston mall. it will hold more than 400 units. in our next half hour, derek ward will have reaction to the redevelopment project. >> right now, bowser is breaking ground on a brand new fire and ems station. the state of the argue station is on the walter reid campus. bowser is planning new redevelopments for the land. the project could create 5,000 new jobs. a campus full of college students and a lot of unanswered questions. students in one school are no classes at washington college on maryland's earn shore today for students. it is their third day off because of a campus threat. multiple agencies are looking for a student who they think has a gun. his parents say he took it from their home and disappeared. the college evacuated all students from campus then. the decision when to reopen will be decided on a day to day basis. researches at brown university studies found that 15% of women were assaulted when drunk or high. they talked to 500 freshman, the people behind the study believe that education and prevention before college could drive the numbers down. just in the trial of the man believed today be responsible for the disappearance of the lloyd sisters. he faces charges for the disappearance of the 12-year-old and 10-year-old sisters. we have wild weather across the country. the extreme conditions that are packing a punch and how the a big area of rain now moving through the midwest out in kentucky and tennessee. farther south of the gulf coast it is advancing to the north and west. pounded the area bringing heavy rain and strong wind. three people died after trees fell on top of their cars. winds up to 119 miles per hour were recorded just south of seattle. the heavy rain is expected to pick back up tonight. >> the tomorrows that will bring us rain in a few hours have caused some damage in the south. more than 4,000 people in the dark in kentucky in arkansas, wind brought down part of a roof of a downtown business. some people said they saw a big cloud with lightning pass through. no one, thankfully, was hurt. >> dealing with tragedy for the situation in paris and the threats in washington. how do we deal with the anxiety that comes from we're following the latest developments for a search for terrorists. we're awaiting news from a major raid in a paris suburb this morning where two terror suspects died. french police say it targeted the master mind behind the attacks but it is unclear if they found him. this morning the french president said that france is at war against isis. he is calling for a coalition to work together to destroy the group. they also identified all 129 victims of last week's attack. 350 others were hurt. and police are taking the possibility of threats extremely seriously. new security measures started in college mark. you can see the metal detectors there. officials searched every purse by hand. it is important to stay aware, but not to completely shift your daily routine. >> when you have people pushing that type of agenda, the fact that there are people out here that might take that action, we have to take all of that seriously. >> another example of heightened security, the report of a suspicious package stopped a train. >> the events of the last five days have been a lot to absorb from terror attacks in paris to threats that hit too close to hope. is it natural for people to feel the anxiety that we're hearing? >> i think it is absolutely natural, yes if is normal to a degree. if you're having symptoms of anxiety that affect your ability to function, if you can't sleep, can't eat, if you're afraid to go places you used to go, that is anxiety to an excessive degree. >> what kind of advice do you give to people feel e.g. like that right now. >> it's nice to be informed, but ignorance can be bliss if you're having anxiety, if you know you're prone to it, try to limb your exposure. the second thing is you want to keep things into perspective. the likelihood of something line this happening is very low. and finally you want to make sure you're taking care of yourself in general. trying to eat well, sleep, exercise, stick with your nor ral r mal routine. >> how do you talk to children. >> you want to be reassuring, have your own anxiety in check. young kids in particular take their cues from their parents. the kids are going to feel the anxiety and it will ramp up their anxiety as well. >> we are going to talk about a way to deal with stress like we talked about before, and depression. stay with us. sunshine breaking out around the metro area especially just south of washington. we have a lot of rain here back in the tennessee valley and into kentucky and indiana. the travel impacts forecast for the afternoon and evening rush hour should not have any travel problems, maybe just a few sprinkles. and thursday morning that is when there will be cautions, slow downs, maybe fender benders for the morning commute tomorrow, and no real risk for tornadoes tomorrow. we could have gusts tomorrow. the flood risk is low. and by later in the morning it will dry out. there is a high risk of heavy rain for several hours especially in the morning commute tomorrow. we'll look at those rainfall totals, i'm working on that now. >> thank you, tom, montgomery county police say a there. >> amateur video captured some of the heavy automatic gunfire that erupted when french forces raided an apartment outside of paris this morning. the main target was the alleged master mind of the paris attacks. but as the raid began, a woman in the apartment blew up a suicide vest. police ordered residents to stay inside. anyone who approached was told in no uncertain terms to back away. the neighbors were evacuated by police and searched. we stopped a man who was rushing down the street. he said in arabic that he witnessed the whole thing. i saw the raid, 20 cars pass by here, then 5five minutes later the shooting started. >> you heard it? >> i stay with my eyes. the misfocused on one apartment on the third floor of this building. that is the apartment where the targets were holed up. they say it was the man that was the master mind behind the terrorist attacks. as day was breaking, the raid seemed to be winding down. then several explosions echoed through the streets. it is common in situations like this for police to use grenades or small charges to set off traps they are taking no chances. >> police have now reopened this area, they say the raid is over, but like the real thing. first, explain how does it look? >> so cognitive behavior therapy is when you try to arrange your thoughts and behaviors when you have unhealthy or abnormal thoughts. trying to behavior differently and overtime, as a result, starting to see changes in the way you think and behave. and this is manualized so the thinking was maybe this is a type of therapy that can be applied to a computer where you sit in front of a computer and get your therapy versus one on one with a doctor. >> what do you think about it? >> prior studies showed this was an effective way to treat more mild depression. one study shows it wasn't really working because many people did not follow through with the treatment recommendations. people would do the online courses while they were very tightly connected with a professional checking in with them, giving them home work, making sure they were doing what they were supposed to do. with this study, they found a majority of people were not following the directions. instead of doing every course on a weekly basis they did maybe one or two of the ten courses. so they didn't get better and it could have been because of that. >> we know that it can go either way, and i suppose -- >> i see now downside to at least trying it, if any, it doesn't help there is professional one on one help. >> we'll see you nec week i hope? >> it's
