Im Kristin Wright live in new carrolton where a neighborhood is on edge after a man was found dead near that bus stop in the middle of the night. This morning children waited for the bus stop on 85th avenue in new carrolton steps from where a mans body was found. This father walked his kids to the stop, thats when he found out about the violence so close to home. This is shocking. Its really shocking. The mans body was found in the grass, right behind a metrobus stop. Pieces of glass are still scattered on the ground and the bus shelter is missing. A pane of glass. Police spent all night here. Makes me feel unsafe. If this kind of thing can happen around here, i doubt we are really safe. Reporter its a neighborhood of apartment complexes. People here say loitering is a problem, but that violence, deadly crime usually isnt. The children waiting on the bus got on. Many parents today feeling much more uneasy than they did yesterday. It changes the whole thing. Makes me feel real unsafe. My kids, too. We dont know who this man was or what exactly happened to him. We also cant say right now whether police are looking for anyone they are keeping this investigation very close to the vest and are not answering any questions at all. Thank you. Grief counselors are visiting with students at Clarksburg High School in maryland. They are helping them deal with john dreggis death. He was 16 years old and was struck by an amtrak train near germantown yesterday. Derrick ward has more on how classmates are remembering him. That will come up at 11 30 this morning. A massive cleanup effort is underway in utah. A fuel scale search is on for several people swept away in flash flooding. Five people are missing. Eight are confirmed dead including several children and mothers caught in raging floodwaters that washed two cars downstream in a town along the arizonautah border. Look at this. The incredible video images shows the desperate effort to pull people out of harms way. Three were rescued. Others made it out on their own. This massive search and rescue effort involves at least seven agencies. And theres also a Flash Flood Warning happening right now in that area. All right. Thank you. Professors at Delta State University in mississippi will hold a vigil for one of their own. Ethan schmit was murdered by another professor yesterday. Police say they tracked the suspect, shannon lamb down, then he killed himself. Lamb was a suspect in another murder hundreds of miles from there. Classes are canceled at the school today. And this morning youll get a chance to talk about the exposing of laurel regional hospital. The plan will be presented in about a half hour. The company decided to close the hospital and open a Walkin Center for patients. News 4 broke the story on twitter. County Officials Say the Maternity Ward will be the first thing to go on october 11th. Hundreds of workers are losing their jobs. New details on a story weve been following, a kentucky state trooper shot and killed on the job was trying to help the man who shot him. The trooper stopped the man who turned out was driving on a suspended license as the trooper was trying to find him somewhere to stay with his two children, he took off. The officer was shot by the man during a second stop on monday night. The suspect was found after a massive manhunt. He pulled a gun on police. We learned two students are dead after a Horrific School bus crash in houston. Take a look at terrible scene. The school bus there mangled on its side just off the road. There the bus fell off an overpass and flipped on to its side as it fluit plunged to thed below. One girl was killed at the scene. Another girl died at the hospital less than an hour ago two other children and the bus driver are at the hospital with serious injuries. All of this happened as High School Students headed to class. Were working to find out what caused this accident. All of our families continue to grieve and cope with the loss of adam ward and my love Alison Parker. But in the 2 1 2 weeks since their murder, i can tell you the healing has begun. Chris hearst was off since investor parker killed Alison Parker and ward last month. Hearst was dating parker. The five students from new yorks barook college are charged with the death of michael deng. It happened when the students were on a trip to the poconos. The project will cost nearly 50 million and will take about three years to complete. Police in arizona are increasing the reward for information on a string of highway shootings. The shootings started about two weeks ago a person of interest is in custody but the main culprits are on the loose. 50,000 is being offered for information. New video this morning. It shows an unruly passenger who caused a flight from miami to chicago to be diverted. It happened last night. Were learning that the plane landed in indianapolis after the woman struck a member of the flight crew. Natalie martinez has the latest. Reporter the unruly passenger had others on American Airlines flight 1284 reaching for cell phones. Ryan wood captured this video as the woman was being hauled off by indianapolis airport police. Just a lot of screaming, yelling. I thought it was a kid crying in the back. It ended up being she was kind of being belligerent, drunk on the plane. Passengers tell us an inflight announcement was made. They said everybody get to your seats, buckle up. Nobody move. Witnesses explained how the woman spewed nonsense and profanity. Youre good. Most of it was profanity. And just, you know just very disturbing. You feel very bad for her. The woman was restrain and the plane diverted so police in indianapolis could take over. She apparently struck the Flight Attendant as they were restraining her. But they were able to keep her under control until the plane was diverted to indianapolis. The poor Flight Attendant. During the process she also kicked one of the officers. It was a good decision they made. They had to do what they had to do. That passenger is facing numerous charges including battery. Today is a big day for two astronauts up in pace. Nasa astronaut scott kelly and a russian cosmonaut just reached the Halfway Point of a yearlong stay up there. Thats going to be the record for a u. He was hit by a northbound amtrak train around 4 45 in the afternoon. He was walking with two other teens when for some reason he went on to the tracks. Investigators are trying to find out why. It happened near the boyds m. A. R. C. Train station, and it impacted Commuter Rail service. Shortly after the incident, students took to social media to offer condolences to his family and to encourage the wearing of the blue in his memory. Grief counselors will be at the school today. News 4 went to Prince Georges County at beginning of the investigation. Police are not saying anything about the nature of the mans death. Developing right now, hungarys new enforcement at the border. We just learned that guards arrested three men for trying to cross over from neighboring serbia under a wire fence. The first arrests under the new laws that are designed to shut down the swell of migrants. But its also left a pile of people with no place to go. Army troops could shore up the border more. Jury selection is expected to wrap up in the murder trial of a man accused of killing a d. C. Police detective. Antoine james is charged with killing Joseph Newell in 2013. James shot his stepfather several times after the two argued about mowing the lawn at their home in upper marlboro. Newell was a d. C. Police officer for more than 20 years. Tonights meet willing focus on the countys effort to reduce the number of people with Mental Illnesses in jail. The goal is to move nonviolent offenders to Treatment Facilities instead of locking them up. Officials in virginia want to make sure change is made to older guardrails will keep you safe. A flash flood hit this area yesterday afternoon, and a total of eight people have been killed, and five are still unaccounted for as of now. What what happened is that a heavy rain storm hit the area, a total of an inch and a half to three inches of rain in less than an hour. It hit in the mountains behind me, sent rivers through the streets of this community. What happened with the people who were caught in the flood, were told, is that they were watching the floodwaters when another flood came from behind and swept them into short creek. Search efforts began right away. Overnight the eighth body was found. This morning people in this Community Holding out hope that they will be able to find some survivors among the five who are still unaccounted for. But its a terrible day here for people who live in hilldale, uta utah. Employees at the Colorado Spring shop say they walked in on the cub last night face first in tubs of icing. They think he got in through an open door. Parks and wildlife officers came and got the cub safely out of the restaurant. They say the cub will go to a Rehab Facility because it was malnourished and had a hurt paw. Im glad he got help.
