In baltimore for a retreat and and Senate Republicans in hershey, pennsylvania for more of the agenda what theyre doing at those retreats were joined by carrie dann. Welcome. Good to see you. Good morning. Theyre working. They would say working. But the mood is very different in those two retreats between baltimore and hershey, pennsylvania . Absolutely true. One thing interesting about this is that for republicans, House Republicans and Senate Republicans are doing this retreat together. That hasnt been the case for the last ten years. But now that both of those chambers have republicans in charge theyre meeting together and a big part of that, looking at strat going forward. House and Senate Republicans are place when it comes to what policies they can get done. The house can be more conservative. A bigger majority. A lot of the strategy what they want to pass and how theyll pass it a taking place up in hershey today. I heard the jobs and wages would be a big theme inbaltimore for democrats. Is that about it . What else do you think . Interesting you mention wages. Thats a big issue for the Democratic Party. You heard the president over and over saying unemployment is down. Objectively true. One thing Many Americans arent feeling, their money isnt going up. Theyre still making less money. Many people not making enough money to really grow their own economy and their own household. Thats an issue democrats really want to talk about. Its something Elizabeth Warren i think has gotten a lot of attention for talking about. So the strategy not just to create more jobs but better jobs is going to be a big part of the Democratic Party platform especially going into 2016. At this time yesterday, passing house budgets killing president obama executive action on immigration. Any idea when the senate might take it up . Theyre looking at it. Tricky on the republican side r the senate is they dont have they do have control they dont have enough votes to stop this from getting stuck, basically. So Mitch Mcconnell has to work either with democrats, getting democrat come along with this measure, very unlikely to happ. Democrats are unhappy with republicans trying to roll back the president S Immigration action. What you may see happening is this legislation may get stuck in the senate and may have to go back to the house to get a cl fund the department of Homeland Security without any of these immigration attachments. House conservatives dont want that to happen. Fig will play out over the next few weeks. No dull moments. Never a dull moment on capitol hill. Thanks a lot.
