A nasty morning, as ice led to several accidents and spinouts during the morning rush. Multiple vehicles involved in accidents here. Drivers are just sliding off of the road way. Reporter cars could be seen stuck in the snow at all different angles and this was not just one icy spot, Police Closed all lanes on the southbound side of the bw parkway, from green belt, where this car got stuck, all the way down to route 50. Salt trucks were brought in to try and melt things, but the damage was done. And if things were not bad enough, right around 7 30, there were accidents on the northbound side and they closed that down too. Bringing traffic to a screeching halt. That northbound closure happened because of icing on the over pass over 410. Traffic literal stopped. There were a series of Car Accidents that happened here as we understand it, the initial accident scene happened involving maybe a tractor trailer and several cars. And then several cars were trying to stop to avoid the initial scene. The chopper pilot indicated that he saw 50 to 100 vehicles involve offed in this series of of collisions and then the backups that came after that on the turnpike, there were at least 12 patients taken to area hospitals. 5 of them trauma patients and 7 of them being treated for minor incidents.
