A viewer posted this on instagram this evening along with a description, a harrowing experience train stopped, lights went out, smoke started filling in never been so scared in my life. The passenger says they were stalk on that train for almost an hour and that others inside the car did need medical attention. Reporter well right now what were seeing weve moved from that spot. The evacs were taking place down on the waterfront. Take a look at this video. This is the scene down at 9th and main. When we got there, there was several fire trucks there, some fire and emt personnel were on one of those grates that lead to the tunnels in the station for emergency evacuations just for incidents like this. Now, at some point they took a firefighter through one of those grates. She was brought up and put into an ambulance and taken away. We dont know anything act her condition. She looked to be okay in terms of any sort of trauma or anything but she was breathing with an oxygen mask. Two other people walked out of that tunnel and were taken away by police. And what weve seen since then and since weve moved here especially closer to the scene, is a lot of confusion, a lot of traffic. We are starting to get people pouring off some of the shuttle buss that metro has set up. We talked to some riders who were pretty upset because they really didnt know what was going on. Lets take a look. This is what we heard from one rider. We were on 7th street for almost what an hour or two . So it takes three hours when it usually takes me 20 minutes to get home. No communication. We got off the bus because they had the bus driving toll a place where you had to kind of make a uturn so, another bus driver had to get on to make the uturn for her. We were on that bus for an hour and 15 minutes. I was on the subway left the subway to get on the bus. Reporter and as you can hear theres still Emergency Response in this area. They have been bringing some buss with what appear to be people who might have been coming out of these tunnels on them. Tlafk is still blocked. A lot of people are concerned because theyre seeing fbi vehicles from atf and other federal authorities here. That is usually the case in the Nations Capital whenever theres an incident especially one they havent resolved at this point. They are always responding. Doesnt necessarily mean theres anything special or especially nefarious about it. This is one of the shuttle buses, and you can look inside bus and see how packed it is. People are packed in there like sardines. Weve only seen a few of these shuttle buses come through the area and theyre waiting outside in the cold waiting outside in the rain for these buss to show up. And there are so many people not everybody can get on the bus. You see a lot more people are stand ong the sidewalk on the curb outside the metro station. Theyre going to have to wait until the next bus shows up to try to get a ride on further down the line. Lets go to some video. Another bus that showed up here just within the last half hour. Again, theres stale lot of confusion and frustration. Those people were told that that bus was going to take them to Lenphant Plaza metro. They said why are we going there . Theyve notified hundreds of their managers making sure they know that all of their security protocols in place and in fact sending out some videos showing them how to do that.
