Lets look at the radar where these storms are and currently move across our area. You can see the storms moving up towards the north. Reds and oranges is the heavy rain that came through earlier today. How much rain did we see here . So far, 1. 33 inches in washington and more than three quarters of an inch in quantico. As the rain moves out we will just see shower activity in the metro area and towards waldorf and bowie. You will see the rain continuing as it moves to the east. That hospital in dallas wasnt adequately prepared to deal with the first case of ebola. Director frieden will testify on capitol hill tomorrow, president obama continuing to reiterate he has confidence in the cdc director and an outbreak in the United States is very very unlikely. That is something we heard him say again this evening. President obama stressing that he believes the protocols that are in place work. He said he proved it by shaking hands and kissing the hands aof doctors and nurses that worked at emory and said he has complete confidence in the protocols, a matter of putting them in effect. Highly unusual move for president obama to cancel a trip. Some doctors say it is unlikely the virus can be passed on a plane, especially if the patient was in the early stages of infection. One thing they have found people are more contagious the sicker they become. When people first start showing symptoms they are the least contagious because theres very little virus in their bodily fluids. As the disease progresses, it floods the immune system and a lot more virus in those bodily fluids. Any who comes in c would have a higher chance of contacting it and includes blood, fluid and fecal matter. A School District asking their students and family members if they have recently traveled to and from west africa. There are also new concerns tonight about ebola when it comes to travel insurance. The u. S. E association tells the news4 consumer watch travel Insurance Companies typically do not allow the cancellation of a trip because of fea traveli to or near an ebola affected country. However, comprehensive travel insurance should cover you if you get sick before or during a trip. Each is different so youre advised to contact the company directly for answers about coverage.
