this is not the kind of high wire act you want to see. especially if it's in your front yard. take a look at this scene on bradley boulevard. this large limb draped over these large wires. goose bumps. we are waiting for pepco to come in and remove the limb and set the wires free. come to think of it, this was a bad day for trees all around. a tree down here. a tree down over there. it seemed like every other turn, there was something down somewhere. at mcarthur boulevard in glen echo, barely one car could get by. at elgin lane, the street completely blocked by fallen limbs. then, on river road, near wilson lane right before rush hour, tree limbs down. wires down and for awhile, a portion of the road was closed down. sometimes it just takes a fallen limb to bring things to a stop. this was the scene on bradley boulevard when a huge limb from a very old tree came toppling over in the high winds. debris all over the place. the road closed for some time as county workers moved in to make a safe pass. he has an office nearby. he had to reschedule some of his appointments. >> the trees are getting bigger around here and, you know, they are getting more prone to falling. so, the couple casualty that is happened at the enclave apartments near columbia pike. a pick-up truck hit two people. we don't know if the truck driver is at fault or if the victim stepped into traffic. they were rushed to the hospital. their injuries appear to be minor. this is happening in silver spring. a swim coach accused of abusing a young swimmer plans to plead guilty. he was arrested in april. montgomery county police say he abused a girl that he coached from 1984 to 1989. she was 7 years old when the abuse started. the woman is now in her 30s. according to court documents, he will enter that plea later this month. in exchange, a ten-year prison sentence. he was the founder and owner of the maryland swim club in laurel. we are tracking ominous developments in the middle east right now. our answer is fire. that is the warning from israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu after militants rejected a cease-fire proposal and continues to launch rockets at israel. he authorized unleashing the full force against militants in gaza. israel recorded the first death in this conflict. a man delivering food was struck from a shell from gaza. 200 palestinians have been killed and thousands of people forced out of their homes. a volunteer firefighter in our area is on the ground in israel putting his life in danger to help. he's part of an effort to support first responders. heard on tv. sunday, robert packed his bags and left his rockville home and headed to israel to help. >> we were put into one of the most active fire stations there in the front lines of the missile attacks. >> reporter: he's been a first responder since he was 16 years old. this isn't a business trip, it's a volunteer effort to help the people in a war torn area. >> i look for any opportunity to make friends. >> reporter: political tensions have been going for the last 100 years. a resolution may not come soon. in the meantime, he's willing to serve and protect anybody regardless of their religious affiliation. >> here, it doesn't matter the culture. help them save, you know, anybody that is in distress. >> reporter: he is just inside the southern border of israel and the gaza strip, the u.s. to escape violence in their own country. they come to seek safe haven, but they are greeted by armed guards and the possibility they will be sent back home. we have team coverage tonight. we begin with steve handelsman and dealing with the border crisis. >> reporter: house republicans will demand more national guard troops sent to the u.s./mexican border to block the kids from coming in. that could be another conflict with president obama. and the democrats, we do not believe per se the border itself is the problem. the problem is people wanting to cross it. the big issue, the biggest issue remains immigration hearings. should they be speeded up or eliminated? the conflict came to arizona. >> protesting the invasion of the united states by people from foreign countries. >> reporter: they have been told a bus is coming bringing central american kids to detention. many are frustrated that migrants who came illegally aren't going straight home. >> across the border in our country. our president -- >> reporter: the obama plan is to send the kids back. the efforts began with this plane landing yesterday in honduras. the first of many flights planned. >> we are sending family units back to central america. the message is, we will send you back. >> reporter: the obama message is okay nearly $4 billion to speed up the process. republican -- a notice to appear. >> sometimes called a notice to disappear. it's been interpreted to be a police in central america or permission to stay in the united states. >> reporter: some democrats say most of the kids should stay. their home countries are dangerous. >> in many cases, those children will likely qualify to be able to stay in this country under request for asylum. >> reporter: so, congress is stuck over faster hearing versus fewer hearings. i'm steve handelsman, nbc news, washington. they are not the only ones dealing with this. there's a demand for answers in virginia. some of the children may have been transferred to a facility in bristow. we have more on how local residents are reacting. >> i think maybe we should encourage the federal government to send them back. >> reporter: the debate over what to do with unaccompanied immigrant children stretches from the border to northern virginia. the board of supervisors chairman, corey stewart and board members are trying to figure out where the children are and what they can do about it. >> they should be sent back home. the reason they should be sent home is to send a message that if you make that journey to the united states, you are just going to be sent back home. don't try it. >> reporter: stewart says a home for troubled teens in bristow called youth for tomorrow is housing the children. video shows a sprawling 200-acre site. youth rig. investigators say she was talking on the phone, didn't warn the driver about the height restrictions on the skagette river. it caused a van and two cars to plunge into the water. the report says the bridge was deteriorating and didn't have enough warning signs. the whole thing could have been prevented if the truck driver moved over one lane to the left. president obama got behind the wheel
