Arlington county police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman after posing as a Maintenance Worker to get inside her apartment. David culver just got off the phone with police. Police told me they are relying heavily on this Surveillance Video that youre about t s afternoon. I want to walk you through it. This shows the man theyre looking for walking into that elevator. Hes quickly hitting the buttons, trying to get the door shut and watch as it begins to go down. The elevator, we should tell you, it faces outward, looks onto the street. And watch this, his reaction as he looks out. His hands over his face. Police believe he got nervous, noticing officers already responding to the crime, thats because neighbor his called 911 immediately. The attack happened sunday morning at the atrium conned min yumz. The suspect knocked on several doors claiming to be with building maintenance. When a woman answered, police say he went in and sexually assaulted her. Police have also told me investigators have been on the scene throughout the day, preparing to canvass that area once again tonight. Three people were told they were negative for that virus, but in fact, they had it. That was the conclusion from a review of flawed tests conducted in d. C. Last summer. News4s Mark Segraves broke the story on twitter and found out more than two dozen other patients had test results that came back inconclusive. Reporter it was early february when the director of the d. C. Department of Forensic Sciences alerted the public that her lab had begun reviewing hundreds of zika test results, because those results were flawed. Today dr. Jennifer smith told news4, the final results from the retesting are now in and all of the problems at the lab have been corrected. Any time there is an issue, we mitigate it by putting in corrective actions. Reporter of the 423 tests found to be negative, three were actually positive. 26 came back as inconclusive and 394 were, in fact, as for the three who were positive a pregnant woman, a nonpregnant woman, and a male. Reporter and the 26 patients whose final results were inconclusive, dr. Smith said its possible they were exposed to zika or another virus like the dengue fever. They will be followed as if they were zika positive. In other words, they will be given the same medical advice or directions. Reporter all 423 patients who had test results called into question have been notified of their results, particularly those people who tested positive or inconclusive. Law enforcement officers from all over the country are in washington, in our area today to gather to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. They we sadly, this year five more names were added to the list of local officers and deputies whose duty has led to their deaths. They include Rookie Police officer ashley guindon, who was killed by a gunman the day after she took the oath. Today for the first time, some of her relatives are sharing their thoughts now about what this last year has been like for them. Our bureau chief julie carey has their story. Ashley marie guindon. Coast guard academy, the naval academy, air force academy, and west point, all fouryear scholarship offers, getting accepted into one of those is a feat, let alone all four. The Trinity Christian High School Student told us hes looking forward the most to serving his country. Now police tell us mark yantsos once again had sex with a minor. Its the same minor he was ordered to stay away from after he was arrested in april. He is the head of security here at the high school. He was also a Girls Basketball coach a few years ago. We have Court Records that say that a girl mr. Yantsos is accused of having sex with, told police that the two had been in contact. These records that we have say that then the 17yearold girl said it was true. Sources with knowledge of the case say mark yantsos is in the hospital undergoing a mental evaluation. Police rearrested the School Security officer friday. Hes accused of having sex with a 17yearold student again. Yantsos is the head of security at richard Montgomery High School in rockville. A lot of students know him. This guy was entrusted with our security and he was head of security, and to think that hes capable of doing Something Like that is really horrific. A lot of people are just kinda disgusted, like why . Reporter we tracked down Court Documents that say after yantsos posted bond and got out of jail for the initial accusations of child sex abuse, he did it again, same girl. The documents say the victim told yantsoss home four times in five days and they had sex during a fifth meeting. Court records say he gave the girl a hundred dollars that day. One condition of his bond, to stay away from her. Parents are stunned. I strongly believe in the presumption of innocence before one is adjut kated, but i find this mans judgment to be questionable, at best. Reporter yantsos is still on unpaid leave. The principal sent a letter home. It says in part, the allegations are despicable and represent an irreparable breach of trust, ethics and the law. We do not and will not tolerate this behavior in our schools. Hes the head of security, so everyone expects him to be trustworthy and everyone relies on him to be safe. Reporter i spoke to yantsoss attorney on the phone earlier today and he declined to comment. Now, doreen,om here at Richard Montgomery say they will fight to maintain the reputation of their school. Back to you. Kristin wright, thank you. Theres outrage tonight in sterling, virginia, after a man posted signs telling drivers not to stop for pedestrians and cyclists at a busy trail crossing. He says he did it to improve safety. Transportation reporter adam tuss has this wild story thats generating lots of buzz on social media. It is not always easy to get across the trail where it meets sterling boulevard. The intersection is busy and potentially dangerous. Youd think safety would be the top priority. So why did a local man makes huge yellow signs and then put them up, telling drivers not to stop for pedestrians or bicyclists here. Didnt just grab a couple pieces of plywood and throw up some signs. Hes an ally of pedestrians and cyclists. He said he recently witnessed a near collision and just wants all the cars to pass before cyclists can then go. The message says, please do not stop for pedestrians or bicyclists, thank you. Where is there any confusion in that . Reporter but cyclists who came through over the weekend and saw the signs say his attempt was misguided. Throughout the time that i was here, both times, cars started getting more and more aggressive. Theyre honking. Reporter eventually police and ddot got involved. Governor Terry Mcauliffe signed that bill today that requires the states driver education curriculum to include Proper Police procedures when youre pulled over, and as a driver, what to do with your hands, when to get your documents. The new legislation does not say when that information will be put into drivers ed manuals. In 2015, he called for a shutdown of muslims entering the country. A man armed with an ak47 killed officer michael gar vareeno and detective vicki armil outside the Sully District station in shant tilly. It was may 8th of 2006, the 18 car, drove to the station and ambushed the officers in the rear of the parking lot. Armil died at the scene, gar vareeno died nine days later. A former bishop who caused a deadly dui crash could be getting out of prison sooner than expected. Heather cook has a hearing tomorrow. He was sentenced to seven years for hitting and killing a bicyclist in 2014, she admitted in court she was drunk and texting at the time of the crash. Supporters of the victims family said theyre angry she could be released so early in her sentence. New numbers show what many of us already know about metro. Chopper4 flew over the site and found crews digging holes here. The firefighters say the fence puts the public in dear. Our Prince Georges County bureau chief Tracee Wilkins is live for us to explain why this fence is going up in the first place. Tracee . Reporter well, i want to make clear this is a 100 Volunteer Fire Department. So they own their equipment and their building. Across the street here, thats the fence being put up on property they dont own. And over here to the right, thats their building and also where they exit with their fire trucks. So you can see now where there may be an these poles and where theyre going are at the center of a heated battle between a developer and the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department in Prince Georges County. Its in the courts right now. Reporter the owner of this strip of land sitting across the bays of the Volunteer Fire Department, theyve never built on it. The Fire Department uses the land for additional parking, Community Activities and even training. The developer says thats the problem. It was the pictures on the volunteer Firefighter Department website where they had burned a couple vehicles on the land, that we decided we didnt want our land contaminated, so we went through the process of erecting the fence. Reporter the developer won permits to put up the fence after a battle in court. That work began today. The Volunteer Fire Department says they move their two engines and ambulances outse bay so they can quickly respond to calls without bumping into the poles. It will take the corner of the fence out. Reporter but the developer says theyre trying to block work on the fence. We have a permit from Prince Georges County and from the city of college park to erect a fence, to protect our property. Reporter its not clear exactly what the developer is planning for the land. Theres a possibility that there may be senior housing. These firefighters say the development and its fence are impacting public safety. The fence will impede us later on as construction continues. Reporter now at this point, theres a continuing court battle, and the Fire Department is going to try and see if they have any rights to at least this corner of the land, but in the meantime, theyre just going to have to wait and see what happens in court. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive in this crime. Michael rosenfield from our sister station in boston has details. Count two, the crime of murder. Reporter arraigned in his hospital bed monday afternoon. Prosecutors say he managed to make it into a luxury penthouse friday night, tying up the residents, both doctors. Sources telling us he slit the throats of the engage the couple, but police surprised him. One of the victims had managed to send a text message to a friend. The friend said they had received a text message requesting that the police be notified that there was a serious situation and that there was a gunman in the apartment belonging to him. Reporter calls to 911 were made. When police arrived, they found keys outside the apartment door. They used those keys to enter the house, they encounter the man, and opened fire, striking him in the hand, leg, and abdomen. News4 at 6 00 starts now. First at 6 00, arrested again, parents and students stunned after a High School Security officer is accused of sex abuse for a second time. And it involves the same teenage girl he was ordered to stay away from. Mark yantsos was arrested a month ago for sexuallily abusing a minor at Montgomery High School. Within days police say he contacted that same student and had sex with her. And just last friday, he was arrested a second time. News4s Kristin Wright is live in rockville. Sources with knowledge of this investigation tell us thatk yantsos tonight is in the hospital, undergoing a mental evaluation. He is still on unpaid leave from richard Montgomery High School. Now the principal here sent a letter home after yantsos was arrested the first time, saying the allegations were just despicable, and a major unforgivable breach. Seniors taking final exams at richard Montgomery High School in rockville dont want the year to end this way. Im sort of disappointed to hear about it again. Reporter police rearrested the head of School Security friday. A month after he posted 75,000 bond on child sex abuse charges. Mark yantsos is now accused of having sex with the 17yearold student again. Seniors say they want to protect the reputation of their school. He is just one person.
