>> reporter: you don't have to ride metro for the metro track work to impact you. it is going to who tries to commute in our region for the next year. mayor bowser rolled out an implementation of changes. >> we are preparing to have more cars on already congested roads. >> reporter: metro's safetrack plan will mean single tracking and some closures for the next year beginning next week with the orange and silver lines. metro will also close at midnight. mayor bowser says they're looking for ways to get people home safely after the bars and restaurants close. >> you mention night life. that's one area where we'll continue to think about shared ride spaces. we're exploring the option of extending weekend service hours on the d.c. circulator to 3:00 a.m. the circulator is a bus, a district only bus that we control. we will also look to expand some of the routes. >> reporter: starting monday, the district will expand rush several major roads until 10:00 in the morning and 7:00 at night. bike share will now off $2 30-minute trips. there will be a moratorium on construction projects. the board chairman says even after a year's worth of track work the system will be far from accused of grabbing the woman's backside at l'enfant plaza last night. the victim actually chased him. police arrested him a block or two away from the station. a recent dry spell may be coming to an well, the man accused of terrorizing our community with that series of shopping center shootings that left two people dead, he's now been indicted. eulalio tordil faces eight charges and that includes two counts of first-degree murder. police say he killed one person and injured two others outside the westville montgomery mall and then shot and killed a woman outside a giant's supermarket in aspen hill. killing his estranged wife the day before these shootings. we're watching the trial of a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside her home. he is a repeat offender who cut off his ankle monitor before committing the brutal assault. chris gordon has been monitoring today's deliberations. >> reporter: there have been problems raising questions whether this jury could reach a verdict. prosecutors called the defendant a violent repeat offender who ditched his tracking device. the defendant took the stand and testified he didn't do it, so the jury is trying to sort it out. all right. the jury is now in court. they have given the judge a asking for more of the trial testimony. a juror was excused today for health reasons. yesterday, the jury sent out a note saying that one of the jurors questioned whether there was a rape in this case. this caused a neighborhood advisory commissioner to come out and just say she's very upset with the way this trial has run and raise questions whether this jury can reach a verdict. again, today one juror was excused and replaced. there's an alternate juror. they will not be deliberating tomorrow because of scheduling problems. they will be back here on monday. that's the latest live at d.c. superior court. back to you. let's look at the race for the white house. hillary clinton and bernie sanders remain in a statistical dead heat as they head into the california primary two-point lead, but her 49-47 lead is within that margin of error. if this race is a tie, the pledged delegates will be split. but a sanders win by a larger margin in california would give him a symbolic reason to stay in the race all the way until the convention. quote, donald trump doesn't understand america or the world. in a foreign policy speech in san diego today, hillary clinton blasted the presumptive gop nominee, calling him unprepared to be commander and chief. >> donald trump's ideas aren't just different. they are dangerously incoherent. bernie sanders also in california today touting his wins in other states as he pushes for a victory on tuesday in that primary. during his speech, sanders said he's happy to have the support of young americans and is holding another rally tonight in chico, california. there are 475 pledged delegates up for grabs in california's contest. on the republican side, it's the closest thing we've seen yet to an endorsement. house speaker paul ryan publicly saying he will vote for donald trump in the fall. in an op-ed, ryan writes with the obama presidency nearing its end there's a chance to get big things done in the next four years. ho their agenda and trump is the best person to make their goals a reality. the rnc's chief latina media spokesperson has stepped down from her post to work for a super pac. her departure is over her discomfort working on trump's e behalf. she's worked with the party for two years now. her replacement is a former adviser to jeb bush's campaign. she recently deleted posts that had been critical of trump from her twitter page. a boat full of elementary school students sinks in the chesapeake bay. allegations that a former war lord is employed as a security don't if that person is the pilot or somebody on the ground. we got this video of smoke rising from the crash site. a picture of the fireball caused by the crash. the navy confirms the jet went down near smyrna, tennessee, while practicing for a show this weekend. this crash comes a couple hours after a air force thunder bird jet crashed in colorado springs. that pilot ejected and we're told he'll be okay. there are new questions about a former somali colonel who lives in alexandria and had been working as a s at dulles airport. that's where we find david culver. what have you learned about this? >> reporter: tonight, youssef ali is on administrative leave from his job at dulles airport. it comes amidst a cnn investigation that highlighted a brutal and violent past. we have covered ali several times dating back to 1998. >> he's been accused of ordering the executions of more than hundred people. >> reporter: that was news4's jim handly questioning on his military past in somalia. 18 years later, those questions still being raised of the colonel. the victim alleging he was tortured and shot and left for dead at the direction of youssef ali. i spoke with ali's attorney. >> ali is entitled immunity an official or former official of the somali government. >> reporter: we found video of him working as a security guard in canada in the early 90s. the court found canada deported ali for serious human rights abuses. he then came to the united states. he most recently worked as a security guard at dulles airport contracted out by a third party. >> my observation is that it is an unfortunate effort i think to sensationalize the fact that he works at dulles airport. so what? >> it is very troubling and it causes a lot of questions about what kind of vetting was done. >> reporter: congresswoman barbara comstock wants to be briefed. >> he found his way back into the country. >> he is present in the united states legally. he hasga united states. >> reporter: i did receive a statement from the metropolitan washington airport's authority. they say the private security contractor which employs ali master security properly vetted him, which raises more questions for the congresswoman. i'm going to tell you what she wants to see done now. prince was known for living a clean, drug-free life. friends said he lived with constant pain of years of performing. it now looks like efforts to ease that pain caused the music icon's death. the minnesota medical examiner has released the results of prince's autopsy. he died of an accidental overdose of the powerful painkiller fentanyl. it is meant to treat patients with severe pain or manage pain after surgery. it is more potent to morphine. prince was found dead in an elevator inside his paisley estate in minneapolis. muhammad ali is suffering with a respiratory issue. he is in fair condition. his stay is expected to be brief. you can buy donuts. tomorrow is national donut day. >> it started we'll tell you how police got their man and what they're learning about his past brushes with the law. and a strange twist in the investigation of a murder-suicide at ucla. what police are saying about a kill list that the gunman left behind. i'm julie carey in fairfax county where we're learning new details about the medical condition of a man accused of a violent attack on a m meas ur back at the live desk. we have learned apple is reporting its online services are experiencing problems right now. the issues began at about 4:00. the apple icloud, tv, itu properly working. we will update you here and on the nbc washington app when we have more. defense attorneys for a man accused of a violent home invasion are now making their case to jurors. lawyers are trying to show that andrew schmuhl was so heavily medicated when he stabbed and shot a mclean couple that he may not have realized what he was doing. julie carey has more to say on what his doctor had to say. jules? >> reporter: one of those doctors an emergency room doctor who treated andrew schmuhl shortly after his arrest. she said she was so out of it she had to give him an overdose reversal drug to revive him. the attorneys are hoping to show that his back pain left him to take a powerful combination of drugs that left him impaired. the judge ruled they cannot use the defense they had hoped to rely on. this is the va doctor who treated andrew schmuhl at the pain clinic in the years leading up to the near fatal attack on a mclean couple. schmuhl, a former military lawyer, was taking more than a dozen prescription drugs to combat pain and other ailments. they included these. he's on trial first here accused along with his wife of staging a violent home invasion attack, tasing, stabbing, and shooting a mclean lawyer and his wife. the couple acted of revenge after victim leo fisher fired alicia schmuhl a few weeks before the november 2014 rampage. he asked his doctor how pain and heavy medication was impacting his life. said the doctor, he was spending most of his time in bed. his quality of life was pretty bad. but prosecutors believe schmuhl was duping doctors, lying about his condition to get powerful proof. andrew schmuhl helping to reroof a house just two weeks before the attack. but other doctors testified schmuhl was in grave condition when he was brought to the emergency room just after his arrest. a doctor says she had to give him narcan to revive him when his heart rate slowed and he passed out. prosecutors contend schmuhl intentionally took an overdose as he and his wife were fleeing police. officers found him clad only in a diaper. he was at first alert but then later became incoherent. andrew schmuhl's lawyers called his wife alicia to the stand, hoping to ask her about his medical condition. when i join you at 6:00, how she responded to those questions. two fairfax county teenagers missing since mid and they've been reunited with their families. 13-year-old danielle lima and rudy were found yesterday in baltimore. they were reported missing may 11th. back then, police believed the youngsters altered their appearance to avoid detection. no word where they've been all this time. a shooting at one of the country's largest universities has now become a double murder that stretches across two states. police say they found a hit list at the suspect's home in minnesota that led them to another victim. >> police in los angeles now looking for a car with minnesota plates. they say the ucla gunman drove from his home state on a mission to kill a former professor. inside the suspected gunman's house in minnesota, they found what they called a kill list. the only woman on the list is soon found dead at her home in a nearby minnesota town. the other two names listed are ucla professors, one of them professor wia yesterday. the other who hasn't been identified is said to be fine. >> he went there to kill two faculty from ucla. he was only able to locate one and the second faculty member was off campus according to the information that we have at the time that he arrived. sarkar was heavily armed. he had two semiautomatic pist s pistols. one he used for the homicide. the other in his backpack. he had multiple magazines of ammunition. >> it appears the gunman was convinced that professor klug had wronged him. they say they may have been some mental health issues involved. alexandria police are trying to figure out who robbed a couple of pharmacies. the thief first targeted a business on jefferson davis highway. then the thief hit another pharmacy about five miles away. the robber implied he or she had a weapon. if you have any information about these police. and if you're looking for a little loudoun has been ranked number one in the country. fairfax county came in at number two. howard county also made the top ten coming in at number seven. montgomery county ranked 19. they looked at until they're off the streets. heights now with details. >> reporter: right. right here on pennsylvania avenue is where it happened, where you saw that atv rider doing all kinds of dangerous stunts and right in front of a police officer. so the chief telling us today that's what made it easy to find him and they are not done. police say the atv rider riding dangerously and taunting a prince george's county police officer is a 26-year-old. tonight he is charged with reckless driving and negligent driving. he is a convicted sex offender. their database of reckless drivers helps them catch dangerous atv riders, especially those who show their faces freely and post the videos on instagram. >> all we need to do is capture these images, compare them to our place of our choosing we will come and charge these individuals. >> reporter: michael rone was recording the video. he is also charged. people in the county sick and tired of the atv problem still can't believe this one. >> anyone can get killed. he can even hurt himself. what kind of stunt is that? >> these young people are sometimes just not aware of how dangerous it is. >> reporter: the chief says the multijurisdictional fight against the reckless riders is going to work with the help of these tips. >> if you're engaging in this behavior as an amusement, just stop. >> reporter: these are traffic offenses that usually carry fines of over $800, but both men could face additional traffic-related charges. now some people are lately wondering if there were more places specifically for riders to do those stunts safely would that make a difference. what the police chief has to say about that. back to you, wendy. and police are looking for the person who targeted two d.c. banks. this is surveillance video of what appears to be a woman or a man wearing a wig. this person entered the bank of america on 49 street northwest on may 23rd. demanded money verbally and handed the teller a note. now nbc 4 responds. a d.c. mom speaks out for her disabled son. >> when his tax refund was caught up in red tape, she contacted susan hogan for help. susan joins us with their story. >> for years, she's filed her son's tax issues, but the district tax office insisted her son call them. but he can't speak. >> he has autism. he has a job. >> reporter: sandra cunningham's son troy is 45 years old. for most of his life, she's been his voice. although he can't speak troy does have a job and his mom filed his taxes in february. troy got his federal refund right away, but the district refund didn't show up. >> how much was he getting back? >> from the district, $832. >> that's a lot of money to get back. >> reporter: d.c.'s office of tax and revenue needed more information. sandra says she gave them what they asked for, but it wasn't enough. >> they said, well, he has to talk to us. i said he doesn't talk. sandra contacted somebody called me back. >> reporter: we contacted the d.c. tax office. while it did not explain the issues, it did say it offers a person who is filling out the tax forms for another person the option to select a third-party designee or they could also get power of attorney. as for sandra, after our call to the district tax office her son did get his $832 refund. >> i'm grateful that we have a group that really finds out what's going on in the city. >> sandra told us when she initially contacted the d.c. tax office an employee told her they're taking these extra steps because after the high volume of tax refund fraud. if you have a consumer problem, give us a call or anywhere between 11 and 13 weeks of age. there may not be much more time left for all of the fans to see them inside the nest. the eagle cam has gotten more than 50 million views since launching in february. and a bunch of cadets at the air force academy are leaving the nest. president obama was there to see them off delivering a graduation speech at the academy today. more than 800 cadets were we could be dealing with heavy rain and strong to severe thunderstorms. day. as far as severe thunderstorms, we could see a stronger thunderstorm or two around, but we're not talking about widespread severe weather by in means. nonetheless, you want to have the umbrella handy. probably didn't need it today, but i would highly recommend it tomorrow, especially if you're going to be out during the late afternoon and evening hours. right now as we look outside some cloudiness and 81 degrees. some scattered showers through the evening hours. otherwise mild. we're in the low 70s at that point. here's future weather tomorrow morning at 6:00 a.m. a few isolated showers. plenty of clouds to greet you tomorrow morning. still can't rule out a shower during the mid to late morning hours. mostly it is with us over the weekend as well. the humidity levels start to drop on monday. saturday a high of 86. most if not all of the days actually looking dry. isolated showers during the afternoon and evening hours. there is about a 40% chance you're dealing with some rain. but notice saturday evening 7:00 p.m. the area mainly monday. a high likelihood of rain and thunderstorms. on monday, the
