Today lanier testified for several hours in the whistleblower case filed by a former commander of the department. Captain Hillard Burton said he was demoted in retaliation after he contradicted chief lanier in testimony he gave to district counsel concerning the use of Police Escorts for celebrities. In court today chief lanier maintained that burton was demoted for several other reasons including the handling of a barricade situation in 2011 and pushback against a supervisor. In crossexamination, burtons attorney questioned lanier on an interdepartment memo written the day after Actor Charlie Sheen tweeted about his escort. The county last week changed the law after a private art museum was charged the hefty bill. The washington po reports the revised law reduces the burden on art institutions such Glenstone Museum currently under construction. After the change the buildings owner was responsible for 72,000. A lot of drivers have figured out the way to park at the metro parking lots and not pay for it.
