encounter. darcy? >> reporter: yes. we're here at dubai jewelry store yesterday afternoon. that 15-year-old, let's be clear, had no idea the man he was trying to help, after crashing his car had just allegedly shot someone. tonight andrew grier became an eagle scout but his training to help others in need got himself in a dangerous situation on saturday afternoon when he came face to face with a wanted man. >> i was just thinking about all of the situations that could have happened and how lucky we were that he didn't shoot us. >> reporter: police say the man robbed the dubai jewelry store on backlick road, shot an accident bystander, crashed his car and car jacked another car. he was trying to get away from police when andrew and his dad saw the crash. >> he went over the embankment and i thought he was going to hit a tree but must have swerved and avoid it. >> reporter: kevin greer told his son to check on the driver while he called 911. that's when the teen unknowingly tried to help a man on the run. he had just shot someone and he probably had a firearm on him. >> reporter: fortunately the suspect didn't bother the teen. he didn't say much. he grabbed a hat, grabbed the duffel bag and took off in the woods. >> what scared me is when the cops came with shotguns and weapons and stuff. i'm like this sant crash. they are trying to catch this guy. >> they are hoping police catch the guy soon. >> won't stop you or scare you away from being a good scout? >> no. i will continue to help people. >> reporter: he sure will. that is a brave high school freshman. i checked in with fairfax county police and they say there is no new update in this case. i did ask whether police can identify the person they are looking for at this point. they are not saying. reporting live in
