news. >> tonight breaking news in texas two. men are dead after they started shooting outside of an art exhibit that featured cartoons for the prophet muhammad. all this in dallas suburb called garland. two men pulled up in a car and shot a security guard. police officers shot both men and killed them. security guard has been treated and released from the hospital. right now investigators are searching the suspects' car for possible explosives. people attending the event were immediately moved to a safer place. >> well are going to move y'all into the auditorium in a minute. i need everybody to remain calm. become orderly, take you into the auditorium further from the front of the building all right. >> the american freedom defense initiative organized the art exhibit and contest. at this point, it's not clear if the shooting was in response to the mohamed cartoons. >> we are still following events in baltimore. one man's adult son was gunned down on the streets there. and he promised himself he would be a better dad to his younger son. now he has got a message for fathers. news 4s darcy spencer joins us live with his message. darcy? >> good evening, chris. first let me tell you it is all quiet here on the streets of baltimore tonight. you can see traffic is getting through. there is no curfew. there are a few people out on the streets. but that is perfectly fine. perfectly legal. police are not out here telling people to go inside for the first time in several nights now. you mention this father. he has been out here protesting every day. after the loss of his son, a couple years age he says he is leading by example. >> we are witnessing history. the world is watching us. >> terry williams' 22-year-old son was shot and killed on the streets of baltimore two years ago. he had been involved in a gang. >> through his death that i felt who i really was. my purpose and my true assignment. >> williams says that tragedy inspired him to become a better farther for his 11-year-old son marquise. >> and i swore to god this isn't here will not experience that. that will be the father god created me to be for my son. >> joining demonstrators with marquise to encourage men to be better dads. >> african-american men take this opportunity to really search their hearts and be the man that god has called them to be to their children. >> motorcycle riders briefly shut down traffic at the intersection in a loud show of support for the community. national guard troops are heading out of town. this will be the first night without a curfew since the riots. police have arrested dozens of curfew violators over the past several days. this man was pepper sprayed saturday night. people we spoke to say they supported the curfew. >> i understand their frustration with what happened. i was frustrated myself. but i am not going to go tear up next door or or tear up where i got to live at. that makes no sense. awe bought they're glad it but they're glad it is being lifted. >> i understan the curfew. enough is enough. >> and that's what we heard from a lot of people. enough is enough. they're ready for that curfew to be lifted. as you can see there are people out here on the streets of baltimore, no police out here telling people to go inside. a little bit earlier tonight, baltimore police released some numbers. they said that more than 100 of their officers had been injured in the line of duty. over the last week. nearly 500 people have been arrested in connection with the protest. i spoke to one state senator who represents this neighborhood, she told me sheep is is not expecting any trouble tonight. chris, back to you. >> thank you, darcy. that means businesses can stay open later. bars restaurants in fells point. we were there earlier this evening. things seemed to be getting back to normal. people were enjoying the nice weather. and tell us, while they thing the curfew is necessary they're glad it has been lifted. >> but it has been hard. because usually we are going to wal-mart shopping things like that. late at night. we couldn't do them things you know what i mean? but i am kind of glad curfew is lifted. a blessed thing. >> my view on the curfew i think there should have been a curfew. you know? because they needed it for those young people. i know that's what it was for. it wasn't for us adults. it was for the young people. >> pastors in baltimore parade for peace and healing. for some people going back to the way things were isn't good enough. news 4s, derek ward continues team coverage "day of prayer." >> the maryland governor came to the catholic church on baltimore's west side for what he called a statewide day of prayer and healing. a process that has begun in the days after monday's unrest in the streets. with the lifting of the 10:00 p.m. curfew prayers of man have been answered. >> it has been a hard week. we have kept everybody safe. since monday night we haven't had serious problems. >> i think a lot of the unrest has been settled, settled down in the sense protest thousands. that doesn't mean the work doesn't continue. >> the mayor toured the mall looking forward to the reopening. this man, taking some pride in the way the city handled itself over the last week. >> times of trouble you do have people that come together. and there is a tomb of healing andhealing -- time of healing and to rebuild. >> this is freddie gray's neighborhood. >> the archbishop lori was here. >> in many ways the whole religious community across baltimore has been calling for the same thing. really from the very beginning. >> but they have also been calling for change. change in the police department with six members now facing charges in connection to freddie gray's death. and the neighborhood that have been neglected. and that erupted. while there are signs and remnants of when the west side was in its heyday the question is -- what happens on the other side of all of this. the curfew gone it will be easier. >> give people more opportunity to do what they want to do. >> we are learning a wonderful lesson in a -- in a really -- beautiful moment if we move it forward. >> a in our area is trying to change that. rob sheen was 10 years old he became a foster child and remembers being dropped off at a new house with all his stuff in a garbage bag. that memory stayed with
