Reporter hundreds and hundreds of pages of documents from the august 29th shooting of john gere reveal the two people closest to him were adam torres who is identified as firing the fatal shot and another severe Rodney Barnes ha has hostage negotiation training and was speaking directly to gere. In an interview after the shooting with detectives officer Rodney Barnes say he and officer torres encountered gone gere in the doorway of the house on pebblebrook court. He told them he had a gun and indicated it was on the floor behind him in the house. The documents indicate that barnes said geer kept his hands on the screen door hands up. Geer said if i drop my hand, im going to get shot. Geer would periodically ask to scratch his nose and raise his hand. At one point he spoke in the direction of officer torres saying can you not point that gun at me .
