In virginia Arlington County schools have decided to scout two hours late along with fairfax, loudon. We talked about how bad the morning rush could be all because of that snow that fell between 5 00 and 9 00. Even heavy banding of snow. You see the bright white there around the 8 00 hour. It was around an inch per hour at times. Thats why we piled up, 2, 3, even 4 inches. Everybody is below freezing. Not just a little bit. Were 29 in d. C. And 21 in gaithersburg. 15 at dulles. 18 at manassas. Its going to be very interesting to see how we do tomorrow morning. I think the main roads may be okay. But everythings going to be freezing. Roads will be slick. You need to give yourself extra time if youre walking to work even walking will be tough. Give yourself extra time no matter what you do tomorrow morning. Conditions range from damp to dangerous. As temperatures dropped, hilly streets became treacherous. In arlington, Police Closed the; of fredericks street. Michael young was in one vehicle. I pretty much stopped. But i slid and i hit one car. Bouncing into another car by the side and hit, i think it was a school bus in front. The school bus had no kids on it so everything was okay. Reporter fast work with salt and sand allowed the road to be reopened a short time later. A mile away this section of monroe street became off limits to motorists. Narrow residential streets inside the beltway fare the worst during a snowstorm. Normally they come out pretty quick. This street will get plowed pretty quick. But they didnt touch it when i left at quarter to 8 00 and yeah its just icy. Reporter there were so many Early Morning crashes, nearly a dozen involving school buses, that for an hour the officers could respond to only the most dangerous. Tomorrow is not on the main street but getting in and out of your car, driveway parking lot, they expect those to be dangerous and icy. Live in arlington Jackie Benson news 4. In montgomery 100 crashes between 5 00 and 1 00 this afternoon. And 142 crashes were responded to. Unfortunately, we got it wrong today. Traffic is just dangerous, and its awful, i might say. Students in arlington, louden and fairfax who did not make it to school will get an excused absence. New at 11 00, the woman accused of vandalizing two d. C. Landmarks is now free. She was released from st. Elizabeths hospital after the department of health ruled that she shouldnt be committed. A second man tries to pull him out and steady him. The man who fell is 22 years old, he was transported to the hospital and the they describe him as highly intoxicated at the time. Anytime were that clear with snow cover, temperatures are able to fall quickly. Look at the wind chill, already down to 21. Were not going to be seeing any more rain or snow coming up over the next 24 48 72, you can go into the weekend, i dont expect anything. What will be a problem for the morning commute is ice, icy spots for sure. The secondary roads could be a real problem. 22 degrees, especially on some of those hills.
