big bodies. >> al: they will go for two to try to make it a two-possession game and make it a 16-point game. see if anderson can throw this off. then have an onside kick. it doesn't matter now because benjamin has it knocked away from him by william gay. so that keeps it a three-possession game at 37-19. >> cris: nice job of william gay. this is the catch benjamin has been making all night and gay went strong through his arms and ripped it out of there. we talked about some of the catches that kell ven benjamin has made. here is opening day against tampa bay. this one looked like it had no chance at all and just sort of reached around the defender and made it there. watch this one-hander. right on the sidelines. gets that knee down. the ball just sticks in his hands. of course, also made the big play right there in this game. won't forget the one he made to win the national championship a year ago. >> al: that is a true first round draft pick. >> cris: yeah. you know, if you're going to get rid of steve smith, you better replace him with somebody who has some potential and they found him. >> al: that was all part of the master plan. if smith was going to go, they had to find an ace and it looks like they got their man. also jerricho cotchery who they picked up from pittsburgh who had ten touchdowns from roethlisberger louisiaast year, hurt tonight so he wasn't in and avant was bobbled. after their victory today they will take on the dallas cowboys erased a 21-point deficit over st. louis today. drew brees back on target and tremendous comeback for the cowboys in st. louis today. >> cris: the dallas cowboys you wonder how they get it done and they make it interesting. didn't the saints put up 30 first downs against that cowboys defense? but we will see. >> al: bruce gradkowski comes in so the backup gets to play for pittsburgh as well. came over from cincinnati a couple of years ago. a hurlged move. bell is good at that stuff too. a gain of 17. >> cris: speaking of patience. watch legarrette blount's move here. just patiently over the top. we have seen that before. remember when he played in tampa? there would be multiple times because when you're a big back or you're a taight end, defensie backs want no part of taking you up high. they chop your legs out so the guys have learned it and they started just hurdling. >> al: must have been a hallmark of le'veon bell as well. blount is closing in on a hundred yards. bell already has 147 and that is 97 yards tonight for blount. for pittsburgh tonight, 245 yards on the ground. >> cris: of course, antonio brown, he kind of did that hurdle a little differently, didn't he? he didn't quite make it. >> al: on a punt return. >> cris: i see ben thought that was funny. >> al: everybody thinks they are like that these days, right? or roger kingdom. won a gold medal in '84. assistant coach. talked to him in arizona in the preseason. flag is down. >> cris: lined up offsides. you can see it from here. >> al: our referee is a first-year referee in the nfl and making his national tv debut and ron torbert making sure he gets his face time. >> referee: offside defense. lined up in the neutral zone. five-yard penalty. still second down. >> al: running back comparison right there. bell with that 81-yard romp. huge play at that point in the game when carolina had them backed up and blount, three yard shy of triple figures. >> cris: well, you know, that's how carolina beats people. they get you in bad situations, backed up. they get turnovers. or they force you to punt the ball. the pittsburgh steelers twice tonight completely turned the tables on them and they were backed up. >> al: there's blount. trying to pick up the first down. and should have it. as we come down to the two-minute warning. >> cris: tough week for ron rivera this week. >> al: he had to handle a lot of stuff. 120 seconds left before the pittsburgh steelers fly home with their second win of the season. . >> al: after the game the michele on the field and have night's matchup in arlington, texas, between the saints and the dallas cowboys. >> cris: really no other way and i won't go all the way through all of the greg hardy stuff. give him his day in court. he's already had one. it goes to a jury trial. on the football field, this pass rush is not the same without him. it just is not. they are not as good. >> al: no way will they get him back at the erlarliest, novembe 17th. there goes legarrette blount. >> al: antoine cason said fool me once and there he stood in there. that almost looks like the antonio brown play. cason stood right there. blount trying to get over him. almost took the flat-footed kick to the face mask you saw earlier this season from antonio brown. >> al: we talked about hardy. hopefully, next week for a change we can open up the telecast and michele will not have to do a report on a rose galle gallery. >> cris: for football fans i know it's rough on everybody. but there is no choice now. the nfl has to take the absolute lead. they have to be the standard on that issue from this day forward because it has been embarrassing. nfl has been way behind the curve on that issue. >> al: art rooney said, we mentioned at the top of the show the president of the steelers, if anything good comes out of it, it has caught everybody in the public consciousness. one more kneel-down on deep safety, this play here. the insurance policy is polamalu. and that will end the ball game. so mike tomlin watches his team come in. big scoring drought. they had been outscored 50-9 in the last six quarters prior to the game and come away with a resounding win mainly due to the second half prowess of the running attack. the prowess of a defense. 28 second half points. and for ben tonight, 196-yard night and two touchdowns. coming up next is the postgame report after these messages from your nbc station. . she's having the time of her life. english lit...soccer...that boy in her study group. so how could i tell her i'm worried about my job and that it could mean a semester or two back home? then i get her text...dean's list. and right there i made a promise... to talk to suntrust, to understand my options, and to find a way. we shine when we make it work, one semester at a time. how can we help you shine? suntrust. >> al: steelers coming to carolina where the panthers had not lost at home since week one of last season and emerge with a 37-19 victory. time to hand out the game balls. ben roethlisberger will get one. 22 of 30 for nearly 200 yards. a well-managed game and a couple of touchdown passes. le'veon bell gets another. 21 carries for 147 with a long of 81. antonio brown caught ten passes and two of them for touchdown. game balls to all three and their lights go up on the "sunday night football" bus. ben and bell are with michele, two of the three. >> after eight-quarter drought and not able to find the end zone you found your way back there. what finally clicked? >> we just didn't make too many mistakes. you know? we found a way to get in and we had a couple of big drives and we ran the ball really well and opened up stuff on the outside and get the ball to a.b. and let him do the magic. >> your first touchdown throw to antonio brown. pump fake and scramble and find him in the corner of the end zone. how did that play unfold through your eyes? >> i was throwing it to markus to the left and got nervous and it was me getting ready to throw it the pump fake and saw him at the last minute and held onto it and out of the pocket and saw a.b. to the back corner and took a shot and worst case scenario out of play and a.b.'s hands and feet were so good he made a play and got in. >> le'veon bell had a great game. what does he bring to this offense? >> a little bit of everything and why i say he's so special and if not already one of the best backs in the league. we run and block and catch and do it all and i'm proud of the way he played tonight. >> it was tough to see ike taylor go down. what that was that moment like for all of you and your teammates? >> i was iting at the pictures on the berth and somebody said don't look and one of the worst feelings ever. i don't want to see it. ike has been on this team longer than i have and a leader on this team and a guy our hearts go out to and prayers and thoughts. you never want to see an injury especially to a guy like that. it hurts. but, you know, he's going to be tough and i guarantee you he'll bounce back. >> congratulations on the win. let's turn to le'veon bell. what big night for you. the running game as a whole, you and legarrette blount how were you able to be so productive against a very good carolina defense? >> offensive line did a great job making it easy on me and ben making the right checks and receivers blocking on the edge and made my job easy and i hit the hole and just running. >> you have remarkable patience. what does that allow you to do as a runner? >> set up my blocks. have to help off the linemen and make their job easier and make my job easier and race off runs. >> congratulations on the win, le'veon. >> thanks. >> legarrette blount had 118 yards and a touchdown. a pair of 100-yard rushers. ben, bell, blount, and brown all doing beautifully as the steelers come in here and defeat the panthers. tony, you picked carolina in this one. what happened? >> well, i did, bob. i thought that carolina defense would dominate this game and they have a great defense but mike tomlin has to be happy tonight and, as a matter of fact steeler fans. that steelers offensive line tonight looked like they did in their super bowl years. they protected the passer but they opened up some gigantic holes for the running backs. you machining two runners over a hundred yards and hasn't happened in pittsburgh since 1986 and if you want to know how long that was, i was an assistant coach for the steelers that day. >> you're making us all feel our age. before we turn to mike florio, we might note that after just three weeks, there are only three unbeaten teams left in the nfl, philadelphia, cincinnati, and arizona. mike, another week of off the field issues for the nfl. what are you working on for tomorrow? >> well, the big issue off the field, bob, continues to be the ray rice situation. he has appealed his indefinite suspension. ordinarily roger goodell would have the authority over that appeal but he has indicated he intends to dealegate that to someone else. a conference is expected within the next few days and then the appeal process can continue. in minnesota where vikings running back adrian peterson is essentially suspended with pay pending the outcome of his legal process. the thinking had been that the trial would happen in 2015 on those child abuse charges in texas. i'm told an effort is going to be made to move that trial into 2014 in the hopes of getting the charges resolved and adrian peterson potentially wants to return to play for the vikings this year. one guy who definitely will be week, quarterback teddy bridgewater is a good as the starter, despiting being a rookie because the veteran matt cassel suffered a fractured foot on sunday as the vikings lost to the new orleans saints. bridgewatered came in and played well. he'll get his first start next week against the atlanta, georgia falcons. another guy getting a first start despite being a rookie is blake bortles. he played okay as the jaguars blown out by the colts and first start in san diego next sunday. >> the final score the steelers 37 and the panthers 19 . al and cris back to wrap things up after this. . feels good to mix it up. the all-new, fuel-efficient volkswagen golf tdi clean diesel. up to 594 miles of adventure in every tank. you got this. you got this. you're a wizard. you're a fireball throwing wizard. you're a hero. and you look great. you and this army. clash of clans. download for free. he didn't quite make it. >> al: on a punt return. >> cris: i see ben thought that was funny. >> al: everybody thinks they are like that these days, right? or roger kingdom. won a gold medal in '84. assistant coach. talked to him in arizona in the preseason. flag is down. >> cris: lined up offsides. you can see it from here. >> al: our referee is a first-year referee in the nfl and making his national tv debut and ron torbert making sure he gets his face time. >> referee: offside defense. lined up in the neutral zone. five-yard penalty. still second down. >> al: running back comparison right there. bell with that 81-yard romp. huge play at that point in the game when carolina had them backed up and blount, three yard shy of triple figures. >> cris: well, you know, that's how carolina beats people. they get you in bad situations, backed up. they get turnovers. or they force you to punt the ball. the pittsburgh steelers twice tonight completely turned the tables on them and they were backed up. >> al: there's blount. trying to pick up the first down. and should have it. as we come down to the two-minute warning. >> cris: tough week for ron rivera this week. >> al: he had to handle a lot of stuff. 28 second half points. and for ben tonight, 196-yard night and two touchdowns. coming up next is the postgame report after these messages from your nbc station. . she's having the time of her life. english lit...soccer...that boy in her study group. so how could i tell her i'm worried about my job and that it could mean a semester or two back home? >> we just didn't make too many mistakes. you know? we found a way to get in and we had a couple of big drives and we ran the ball really well and opened up stuff on the outside and get the ball to a.b. and let him do the magic. >> your first touchdown throw to antonio brown. pump fake and scramble and find him in the corner of the end zone. how did that play unfold through your eyes? >> i was throwing it to markus to the left and got nervous and it was me getting ready to throw it the pump fake and saw him at the last minute and held onto it and out of the pocket and saw a.b. to the back corner and took a shot and worst case scenario out of play and a.b.'s hands and feet were so good he made a play and got in. >> le'veon bell had a great game. what does he bring to this offense? >> a little bit of everything and why i say he's so special and if not already one of the best backs in the league. we run and block and catch and do it all and i'm proud of the way he played tonight. >> it was tough to see ike taylor go down. what that was that moment like for all of you and your teammates? >> i was iting at the pictures on the berth and somebody said don't look and one of the worst feelings ever. i don't want to see it. ike has been on this team longer than i have and a leader on this team and a guy our hearts go out to and prayers and thoughts. you never want to see an injury especially to a guy like that. it hurts. but, you know, he's going to be tough and i guarantee you he'll bounce back. >> congratulations on the win. let's turn to le'veon bell. what big night for you. the running game as a whole, you and legarrette blount how were you able to be so productive against a very good carolina defense? >> set up my blocks. have to help off the linemen and make their job easier and make my job easier and race off runs. >> congratulations on the win, le'veon. >> thanks. >> legarrette blount had 118 yards and a touchdown. a pair of 100-yard rushers. ben, bell, blount, and brown all doing beautifully as the steelers come in here and defeat the panthers. tony, you picked carolina in this one. what happened? >> well, i did, bob. i thought that carolina defense would dominate this game and they have a great defense but mike tomlin has to be happy tonight and, as a matter of fact steeler fans. that steelers offensive line tonight looked like they did in their super bowl years. they protected the passer but they opened up some gigantic holes for the running backs. you machining two runners over a hundred yards and hasn't happened in pittsburgh since 1986 and if you want to know how long that was, i was an assistant coach for the steelers that day. >> you're making us all feel our age. before we turn to mike florio, we might note that after just three weeks, there are only three unbeaten teams left in the nfl, philadelphia, cincinnati, and arizona. mike, another week of off the field issues for the nfl. what are you working on for tomorrow? >> well, the big issue off the field, bob, continues to be the ray rice situation. he has appealed his indefinite suspension. ordinarily roger goodell would have the authority over that appeal but he has indicated he intends to dealegate that to someone else. a conference is expected within the next few days and then the appeal process can continue. in minnesota where vikings running back adrian peterson is essentially suspended with pay pending the outcome of his legal process. the thinking had been that the trial would happen in 2015 on those child abuse charges in texas. i'm told an effort is going to be made to move that trial into 2014 in the hopes of getting the charges resolved and adrian peterson potentially wants to return to play for the vikings this year. one guy who definitely will be week, quarterback teddy bridgewater is a good as the starter, despiting being a rookie because the veteran matt cassel suffered a fractured foot on sunday as the vikings lost to the new orleans saints. bridgewatered came in and played well. he'll get his first start next week against the atlanta, georgia falcons. another guy getting a first start despite being a rookie is blake bortles. he played okay as the jaguars blown out by the colts and first start in san diego next sunday. >> the final score the steelers 37 and the panthers 19 . al and cris back to wrap things up after this. . feels good to mix it up. the all-new, fuel-efficient volkswagen golf tdi clean diesel. up to 594 miles of adventure in every tank. you got this. you got this. you're a wizard. you're a fireball throwing wizard. you're a hero. and you look great. you and this army. clash of clans. download for free.
