>> one little cluster of thunderstorms go to the northern side of town about an hour ago. those are headed to the chesapeake bay. we'll be left with a fairly dry start this morning. but, yes, lots of humidity out there. as a result, our thunderstorm chances are going to be sort of hanging around for much of the weekend. but as you can see here, it's a beautiful way to get the weekend started out there. the sun is up. the sun came up at 5:42 this morning. temperatures are pleasant enough and most of the suburbs are in the mid 60s, 71 downtown. 73 in annapolis. 64 in the panhandle of west virginia. today and tomorrow will be good beach days. slight chance down with the shower. water temperature, 71 degrees. a little something for everybody. relatively good weather in the gulf. a lot of people i know going out there for that. keep your rain gear close at hand. you never know when one of the showers going to cook up. >> appreciate it. >> right now, united airlines passengers are boarding flights after a nigh of being stranded at airports nationwide thanks to a computer glitch. a spokesman said shortly after 8:00, the airline experienced a computer outage across the country impacting departures. this is video from last night from o'hare in chicago. dulles says hundreds of people are stranded there but kept concessions open and provided blankets to passengers. the system was restored around midnight which means flights should be on schedule this morning, head call before you head to the airport if you're flying united. the fbi agents searched the home of jonathan meleku last night. >> federal agents including the fbi bomb squad descend on the brick townhouse in the alexandria section of fairfax county. >> it's a shock. >> this is where 22-year-old jonathan malaku was living with his parents. he was discovered hiding inside arlington national cemetery. authorities say after stopping him for suspicious behavior, he fled. >> he was detained because of his suspicious activity in the enclosed area. because of that, products in the backpack that were initially deemed concerning, we were spotted with the appropriate expertise. >> the backpack contained a substance that appeared to be ammonium nitrate, a chemical compound that could be turned into an explosive. nothing suspicious was found in the car. a red 2011 nissan parked this the bushes by the pentagon. for four hours, it was a commuter nightmare as traffic came to a screeching halt. >> normally it's like a 30-minute drive. today it was about three hours. >> route 110 was shut down in washington boulevard as police investigated the suspicious incident. >> there were people jumping out of cars because there's no exit for people to get off at. >> people had a hard time believing that the quiet young man they only knew as a tennis player. >> it shocks me he was a marine reservi reservist. they stand tall like all of the forces do. that shocked me. >> they arrested him last month for 20-year-old cummings, the nephew of elijah cummings. the wake will be held in baltimore. cummings was killed in his apartment near the campus of old dominion university inn apparent invasion. no arrests have been made. jury deliberations will resume in a high-profile hit-and-run case that took the life of a woman celebrating her birthday. 30-year-old davidson was accused of killing 21-year-old ryan last october. she was not drunk but suffering from posttraumatic stress syndrome after a rough childhood growing up in albania. if convicted, she faces 30 years in prison. now to a news 4 exclusive. a crackdown on deadbeat parents days before father's day. they spent two days hunting the parents down. they made three dozen arrests representing a quarter million dollars in back child support. i went out with one of the deputies to see what it takes to track these parents on the run down. just before 11:30 at night. five teams formed from a dozen prince george's sheriffs deputies got their marching orders. night two to receive arrest warrants from men and women here in calvert counties. >> okay. >> team three hit the streets in suitland first. 1:00 a.m. the cover of night means sleeping suspects and the element of surprise. persistence is key in their hunt. but here, a strikeout. >> break down for us what happened and didn't happen. >> i went to the house. no >> not that i know. there's a gingerbread guy. there's an aaron gilchrest that's connected to championship gingerbread house building. >> there's a kimberly sutter. we've gotten prescriptions before. >> that would be bad. >> good thing you're reading the labels. >> for us, we're going to be facing more humid stormy weather today. but i don't think people to think your weekend is going to be lost to rain shower else. you'll have a lot of dry hours between the thunderstorms. one patch went through early this morning. more showers hanging to western maryland for now. you will get your drive times in for the weekend. keep a weather eye to the sky, a lot of humidity hanging in the atmosphere. here's the showers. the top lit clouds headed out over the southeastern part of prince george's county, the early morning sunlighting up the cloud tops. beautiful picture on the city cam this morning. 71 where we sit right now. dew point is 66. not oppressively humid, humid enough. 84%. temperatures low 70s. 80s by this time. 80s to the mid to late afternoon. there will be a chance for a shower or thunderstorm later on this afternoon. again, not going to be a wash out. i know you're very alert to weather. off ear going to keep you there very safe and secure for sure. mid 60s in the western suburbs around 70 in town. mid 60s in southern pennsylvania. the ridge of heat and high pressure is down to the south. a boundary is hanging out on top of us. as a result, the showers and the thunderstorms ride along the weather front. the first patch is gone on the eastern shore. the next batch moving to western maryland. that's falling apart as it comes our way, we can't rule out shower chances late morning to lunchtime. more dry hours before the daytime heating kicks in. the boundary as we go through the day today. bubbling up of shower and storms coming on through. they fade away. quiet for much of the overnight hours tonight. tomorrow in the day, just like you would expect, more chances to see the showers and the thunderstorms sneaking on in. on the microcast model by noontime. a couple of showers to the west of town. by 3:00, possibly on top of the u.s. open by 3:00 or 4:00 today. partly sunny, hot, humid, thunderstorm chances return late afternoon in to the evening time frame, highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. same story. maybe a tick cooler tomorrow. but, again, a chan for showers in the morning and then again in the afternoon. doing any sailing on the bay today, good bay weather for the afternoon. heat and humidity. warm and humid. chances are trending downward a little bit as we go sunday to monday to tuesday as the storm chances go down, the heat actually goes up. so we'll be up in the low and mid 90s by tuesday-wednesday time frame. ready for a lot of summer weather. >> yesterday is what's showing us what is to come. every ten minutes there's a weather change. >> right on that boundary, changeable weather through the weekend. >> eyes open, thank you. tiger, who? >> which one? >> a all of them, actually. >> good point, you're right. still ahead, it's 6:26 right now. coming up this hour, a family's worst nightmare -- a young boy found dead outside of his own northern virginia home. bristol palin pulls no a tragic and heart breaking story in virginia this morning. a young boy found dead in his minivan in what police believe was simply an accident. i'm kimberly suiters. >> it's saturday, june 18. we begin with that story that's all too common in the summer months. >> a mother found her 2-year-old child dead in the minivan after the boy spent seven hours in the hot car. darcy spencer reports. >> a tragedy unfold in the driveway of this home in bristol on friday afternoon. a 2-year-old boy died after being left in the minivan for seven hours. he would have turned 3 next month. >> mother realized she was in there and she discovered him. and called for help. from what we know, it appears that it was an accident. but as far as nailing down a timeline and what happened throughout the day, we're still putting all of that together. >> forecasters say temperatures got to the 80s friday. police say it would have been much hotter inside the van. >> are you thinking this is heat related. >> it's a distinct possibility, yes. a medical examiner would have to determine that. but being left in the car from 9:00 to 4:00 on a hot day, yeah. >> while the toddler was unresponsive, a neighbor did try to revive him. >> a neighbor, a retired police officer, performed cpr. he heard -- she was out in his yard, heard her scream, came running over, and tried to resuscitate a child, but it was unsuccessful. >> prince william county police say it is possible that charges could be file in this case. it's too soon to say. the evidence will go to the commonwealth attorney's office here. the place is in the process of interviewing witnesses, including the little boy's mom. in manassas, darcy spencer, news 4 today. >> such a tragic story. so easy to get overheated in the car, a child, a person, a pet. >> we talk and the summer months, the heat, the humidity is a roller coaster. >> inside of a sealed car like that. even on a day when we made 85, 90 degrees, inside the car would have been 115, 120 degrees. very, very unfortunate situation. our heart goes out to that poor family. outside saturday morning, we get the weekend under way. we had showers out early. on the chesapeake bay and the eastern shore, we're left with residual clouds. first thing, though, temperatures are not too bad. in the mid 60s across western fairfax county, sterling, ashburn, leesburg, mid 60s. 63 in winchester, virginia. 69 in prince george's county. up to brandy wine up to 70 degrees. 73 in annapolis. the showers on the eastern shore moving away from us. in maryland, inching in our direction. starting to fall apart a bit. i don't know if too much of that will get over the mountains but there will be shower chances between 9:00 and noon this morning. that little cluster fades out and rolls to our direction. a warm one today. a quick chance for a shower. mainly out west this morning. a couple of dry hours to allow temperatures to jump up to the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. with all of that daytime heating, shower and thunderstorm chances sneak back in late this amp or early this effect. to the beach, down to chincotigue, more of the same tomorrow. there's not going to be a washout of a weekend, but almost everyone will be hit with two, maybe three times of rain showers today and tomorrow. keep it in mind, have your weather plans ready to go. back in the headline this is half-hour, arizona's governor has declared a state of emergency for a county where nearly 50 homes have been destroyed by devastating wild fires. two fires scorched more than 220,000 acres there in addition to the massive wild fire, the largest in that state's history. it swallowed more than 495,000 acres in the past 21 days. firefighters said they have made progress fighting the blazes. the wall of fire is now 33% contained. new from overnight, one person is dead killed in a car fire start in an accident. the 2900 b
