short-term gimmick. >> reporter: without it the nation hits its debt ceiling and defaults in nine days. the white house has been holding out for a big deal. one that shows the worlds the united states means business about its finances. >> you don't want politics messing around with america's credit. >> reporter: each side accused the other of playing politics. >> i know the president is worried about the next election, but my god, shouldn't we are worried about the country? >> reporter: the speaker says he and his party are moving ahead. senate democrats say they're working on a plan of their own, setting the stage for a duel between two bills. well, president obama will have to sign off on any plan republican as democrats answers the house and senate will have to fight this one out. of epilepsy for most of his young life. >> he was having 300 to 400 seizures a month. >> reporter: just were he turned 4 he underwent brain surgery to remove tumors and was seizure-free almost a year and a half but they returned. fewer, but longer and more violent. it became necessary for evan to get a service dog that can detect a seizure and be at his side to help with things like balance and the severe tiff the seizures. a trained animal for evan can cost $22,000. a group came up with most but they still have to come up with $13,000. >> i had no idea about the book. >> reporter: hence
