>> they were doing that, jim, because temperatures are going to drop tonight, but it's not tonight, it's going to be thanksgiving morning that we could actually see some problems in sochl areas to the north. we'll talk about that coming up, but the temperatures outside are cooling off but ill very mild. 59 degrees outside right now. winds out of the west at about 8 miles an hour. a beautiful moon earlier this evening and overnighttonight. right now 50 in martinsburg, sterling at 53. columbus, ohio at 34, cinciati at 34 degrees. cincinnati was also around 67 today. they've seen a 33-degree temperature drop in just abt the last 12 hours. temperatures will continue to drop overnight here. most areas will wake up in the low to middle 30s tomorrow morning. i'll let you know about that, plus wha can we expect for the drive both wednesday and thursday? there could be some problems. i'll show them to you coming up. >> thank you, doug. a congressional chief of staff s been fired after his arrest in an internet sex sting in montgomery county. gaithersburg police arreste 48-year-old robert dushane and charged him with soliciting sex with a minor. he was fired. they called his actions shocking and despicable. >> the family of shaw middle school brian betts sat forn interview tonight. it came after the alleged gunman was sentenced to 40 years in prison. jackie bensen was at the courthouse where that sentencing took place. jackie? patrick duncan, an army specialist who has done two tours in iraq. he says he's seen enough suffering. >> now that i can save someone's life, it means so much. >> donor patricia harris is making a bit of a trade, donating her kidney so her son jonathan will get one, too. >> i will move heaven and earth for my son. more tn that, i can improve the quality of life for someone else. >> jonathan is 22 years old. he was diagnosed with kidney disease at the age of 12. he gets an organ from pat semple so her own husband can receive a kidney. >> jonathan isoing to ta care of it. it gives him hope, a new lease on life. >> this complicated web of donors and recipients is part of the largest kidney transplant chain ever performed in the u.s. 16 donors and 16 recipients, a complicated maze of anti bodies, compatibl compatibility, residents and strangers. >> he is the kidney director at georgetown university hospil. he is helping to lead in complicatedidney swap. 32 surgeries over two weeks at three different hospitals, geora, army reed medical center and washington medical center. >> okay, you got a kidney. only approximately a fourth of the people that sit on the transplant list will ever be trans plted. so you have to get a living donor for the rest of these patients if they're ever going to get a transplant. >> here in washington, more than 1700 people are still waiting for a kidney. two weeks after their surgeries, donors and recipients finay meet. jonathan was overcome when he met his donor, ryan semple. his mother's kidney went to kirin cochar. >> it's so nice you gave my husband a life. >> so many amazing stories in that group. 32eople involved. that's a new record for kidney swaps. don't be surprised if it doesn't take long for that record to be broken, and don't be surprised if the folks at georgetown are involved. >> let's hope it is broken. >> i know, i know. a lot of people in need out there. so, doug, how we looking for the thanksgiving travel? >> i think all in all, we're looking pretty good. if you're leaving tomorrow, on wednesday, wednesday is going to be a great travel day. we're going to see plenty of sunshine tomorrow. it will be on the cold side, but at least traveling you'll be a-okay. thursday morning, thanksgiving morning,ould be a little problematic if you're traveling to the north, but any other direction, i think you'll be okay. let's take a look out there right now and you could see a pretty nice night. temperatures still well above where they should be for thi time of year. temperatures currently sitting at 69 degrees. the record today was 75, so we were just six degrees shy of a record during the day today. that's how warm we got this afternoon, and that was with plenty of cloud cover. if we had all sun, we would have easily been in the low to mid-s. 59 degrees outside right now. dew point of 17. we are drying out very quickly and that's going to allow our temperatures to plummet overnight into the 30s, but by the end of the week, we could be talking about temperatures in the 20s. 48 in hagerstown, 50 in martinsburg, still very warm temperatures around the region. 34 in columbus, 37n pittsburgh. that cold air is moving on down and it will be here by tomorrow morning. there's our frontal boundary. you can see it to the south and east. we are going to see clear skies tonight, and that's going to mean we'll be able to radiate very well. we'll be able to cool off very quickly and you'll notice a big difference by tomorrow rning. so the frontal boundary continues to move on down. the mild air is now gone. the chilly air replaces it for your day on wednesday. e sunshine is there but it will be breezy so it will still feel pretty cool. the storm is way back to the west on thanksgiving, but it will be this warm front that brings a little tongue of moisture into our area. if it's he early enough and it's cold enough, we could see some precipitation, maybe icy spots in hagerstown, frederick or martinsburg, so if you're traveling on 41 or maybe i-70, you may run into problems earlier at 9:00 i the morning. if you wait until, say, 10:00, you should be okay. this rainfall will be early in the morning, and i think any other precipitation on thanksgiving should be great. a bit breezy, 34 to 44 degrees, so you can definitely see that change in the temperatures. tomorrowfternoon, highs in the low upper 40s toower 50s. 55 on your thursday. 40% chance of rain, but that will be to the north. then friday, rain early, and turning windy and much colder. friday afternoon will be very chil chilly. saturday a high of 51. all in all, not a bad forecast. still ahead, a junior class in the record books with ten pairs of twins, and that's not all. the wizards. an i ♪ ♪ [ dad ] yeah!
