democrats and some republicans on capitol hill did not want to deal with the funding for this wall this week while they were trying to prevent a government shutdown. as you said it was a associated press the president fulfilled ten of the 38 promises that he made on the campaign trail, but this was a big one. and he hasn't backed off the wall completely, but he is not going to push for the funding right now, the white house says. from democrats reaction from the two top democrats here who opposed this, nancy pelosi says that it is welcome news and it's time for congress to act to prevent the shutdown. chuck schumer said that this is good for the country, that the president is willing to take funding for the wall off the table. and lindsey graham, a republican, has been skeptical about whether the timing is right. >> hopefully we can find a way to increase border security and i'm for a wall where it makes sense but at 2200-mile wall doesn't make a lot of sense. there is not a big appetite for that. fencing and walls are part of the plan. >> reporter: so without a big win so far in his first 100 days announcement tomorrow, tax reform. fran zes and yasmin. >> live in washington, thank you. arkansas executed two death row inmates killed hours apart receiving lethal injections. jack jones and marcel williams convicted of rape and murder and had admitted their guilt. this is the first time the state has carried out two death sentences on a single day since the year 2000. they are the second and third executions of the state's plan to kill eight convicts over a period of ten days, the drug used expires on sunday. >> at no point in modern american history has any state ever attempted to carry out so many executions in such a short period of time. >> death penalty opponents protested the executions but last night the spokesman for arkansas' governor insisted the right thing was being done. >> opportunity for justice and that's what was carried out. >> the state's next scheduled execution is thursday. an american show of force, a short time ago the uss michigan a nuclear powered submarine armed with more than 150 guided tomahawk missiles arrived at a naval base in south korea. and the "uss carl vinson" will be in the region shortly. this as north korreorea is conducting exercises. tammy lightner is straking it all from london. with
