>> reporter: right. exactly. the prime minister talked about the -- the british prime minister talked about steadying the ship. the ship is not looking very steady right now. it has to be said. let me list for awe whole bunch of things happened through the morning here. any one of which would be a major story on any other given day. britain has voted to leave the european union. world markets are tumbling. the british pounded down more than it has been in decade. political leaders in scotland and northern ireland are renewing talks about leaving the uk. the british has resigned. all of that has happened in the face of just a few hours. that is why people around the world are so worried because they don't like uncertainty more than anything else. what the british prime minister announced he will be leaving in three months' time. already, european governments are talking about meeting to decide how they go forward. britain needs to renegotiate with europe. it won't have a new leader until october. so you know already that this is going to be a protracted process. there are those on one side who said that this was going to be a good thing for britain to leave the european union, those who said it would be bad. no one can say this morning, though, that it hasn't resulted at least in the short term in turmoil. the question is how quickly can that be stabilized? the bank of england says it is intervening. the british prime minister says britain still has a strong economy. >> calling for calm but, indeed, a roller coaster of a night. thank you for that. in what does this mean to britain and the eu? >> this is going to be a complex and costly divorce. and as we know as countries, it turns out like they can break up. and so what we are going to see now, political turmoil and economic turmoil as your reporter was saying. this could take anywhere from two years to people talking up to a decade to fully extract the uk from the eu. >> in watching this play out, both sides are trying to be very careful because it could have domino effects if you're looking at other countries possibly following suit, correct? >> oh, definitely. and we have seen particularly the parties elsewhere in europe who sympathize with the kind of -- we are talking about marine lapine in france and others calling for their own referendum to leave the eu. the eu is seen as the kind of boogie man at the moment and is this populism across europe. >> thank you for your insight, jas jason. donald trump spoke with lester holt and saying hillary clinton was asleep at the benghazi attacks. the fact he said he couldn't say where he learned that information. >> you delivered a speech yesterday and went hard after hillary clinton. she says your speech was full of conspiracy theories and you attacked her because you had no answers on substance. what is your reaction? >> i attacked her because she has been terrible at what she does. whether it's libya, the great migration you see and certainly largely her and obama. you look all over europe a disaster has taken place and she will be a terrible president. the attack is really on the fact she will be a terrible president. >> you claims about her her that doesn't stand up -- >> you don't know what didn't stand up. what are you talking about? >> reporter: you said she left during the benghazi attack. >> he was left helplessly to die as hillary clinton slept in her bed. >> were you there with her? >> reporter: she has testified before the committee she wasn't sleep and it happened during the day time. >> it happened all during the day and going on a long period of time. excuse me, we are going on for a long period of time. and she was asleep at the wheel, whether she was sleeping or not, who knows if she was sleeping. >> reporter: she said she was sleeping. >> she might have been sleeping. why? >> first of all, she shouldn't have had a personal server. it's illegal. what she did is illegal. she might not be judged that way because we have a rigged system but what she did is illegal. >> reporter: was there any evidence it was hacked other than routine phishing? >> i heard it. >> reporter: where? >> someone gave me that information. >> i'll report that to you and give it to you. >> reporter: you had that with certainty yesterday. >> i don't know certainty. probably she was hacked. you know, you could be hacked and not know it but she probably was hacked. the fact is she should not have had a personal server. >> reporter: you've been critical of hillary clinton for taking wall street money. will you take wall street money?
