campus right now waiting for a midnight rally from hillary clinton, just hours after donald trump stopped in raleigh. >> linda loveland has the cover live from reynolds coliseum tonight. >> reporter: i can describe the concert-like atmosphere. right now it's quieter because the reverend is talking, but the actual stage comes out into the middle of the audience, so hillary clinton will have supporters on all sides of here. before this started people were lined up down the street, the lines were incredible. i tell you, we've been saying for months now that north role in this year's presidential election, and the fact that both candidates were in the triangle today highlights how important each of your votes are in this race. earlier today donald trump was here in raleigh, and we'll have some of what trump had to say in a moment, but right now the focus is here on the midnight rally for hillary clinton here in reynolds coliseum. so many supporters out there today, and our adam owens was among the supporters. they're very excited. >> reporter: they're here and excited. tonight is a school night, but still you can hear them in the background, a lot of these people here, most of them students here at nc state are really excited about tonight's rally. here's video from earlier. you can see the numbers of people all around, proud that this moment is playing out on their campus. hillary clinton is about top experience the biggest day of her political life, and her campaign decided her last push should be before election day more proof as we've said for awhile of the importance of this state in this election. lady gaga and bon jovi are expected to be here to support her, bop students outside -- but for students outside the big draw was the chance to witness history and the possibility of a first female president. >> potentially the next 24 hours you should be shaking the hand of the next president of the united states, it's a historic moment, and we'll take the opport today. >> >. yeah, this is history. this could go down in the books as another ground breaking election, just like when obama was elected, so i'm excited, and i'm ready to be -- ready to be here until 2:00 a.m. >> reporter: and it looks like we could be here until 2:00 a.m. as well. this is a midnight rally aheadof election day, so it could be a long night for all of us. >> reporter: i think it will be, but people came prepared. they've been standing around interesting. and rocky mount prep presidential -- republican presidential candidate donald trump also visited the tar heel state today, and here's some of what he had to say. >> this election will decide whether we're ruled by a corrupt political clasher, or whether we're ruled by the people. we're going to be ruled by the people folks. >> reporter: trump outlined the divide between his own campaign and the the crowd he'll root out corruption in washington if elected. and he also talked about his ability to strengthen the economy. >> we're going to bring back the jobs that have been stolen from you. we're going to bring back the wealth that's been taken from our country. we're going to bring back the miners and the factory workers and the steelworkers. we're going to put them back to work. >> reporter: now trump and york city tomorrow night when we found out who will be the next president of the united states. kathryn brown and cullen browder are already in the big apple, and kathryn brown will be with hillary clinton and cullen browder with donald trump. we go first two kathryn brown, good evening! >> reporter: guilty evening. it's -- good evening. it's no coincidence that hillary clinton picked the crystal palace for her campaign tomorrow night. it's got to largest glass ceiling in the city. you may remember when she lost the nomination to president obama, she said while she failed at the time to shatter the glass ceiling she put cracks in it, and she's hoping to shatter it tomorrow night. 119 square feet here, 330-foot high ceilings, holds nearly officers have been activated. the streets around the cent effort are already -- center are already closed. you can feel the anticipation in the air around the streets of new york city in anticipation of what's going to be happening tomorrow night, and with that i'll send it over to my colleague cullen browder just a few blocks away from the trump campaign. >> reporter: and consider just how unusual that is. presidential candidates are usually not in the same state on election night, but in this case they'll be within blocks. trump here at the hilton, and trump is known for his big rallies and venues, but the ball room here is quite small, so only invited guests and family. much of the media will actually not be allowed inside. big apple certainly buzzing over its role in the election, but the story at this point is not here, it's in places like michigan, new hampshire, pennsylvania, florida, and of course the race to lead the state, and eyes also on the senate race between incumbent republican senator richard burr and deborah ross. they have strong impact not only here in the state, but across the nation. election day. watch the morning news starting at 4:30 and 7:00 a.m. for everything you need to know before the polls. wake county public schools are preparing for a huge. turnout for voting, found on the property of todd koehlhepp. the spartanburg county coroner doesn't know if the body is a man or woman that how long it has been buried there. we'll continue to follow the developing story and bring you updates on wral news and www.wral.com. we have new information in the disappearance on a woman. carolyn fox hasn't been seen since july, and her son is behind bars on a number of charges, including abusing an elderly or disabled person. candace sweat is here now in the news room with what we know. >> her son hasn't been charged today he made quote vague and inconsistent statements about his mother's whereabouts. >> reporter: carolyn fox was reported missing in early october by a friend, and investigators discovered she'd not been seen since july. search warrants reveal fox's son steven was questioned and told investigators his mother was on an island in the philippines. he also said he believed his mother visited friend in canada before going to the investigators followed up on the claims and discovered fox doesn't have a passport and never left the country. they've searched the home fox and his mother shared three times since she was reported missing. in an application for search warrants investigators stated they believe he's involved in his mother's disappearance and brought her bodily harm. on july 28th they took 28 items from the home, including shoes, a checkbook, computer and chain saw. they've even looked into fox's mortgage is 60 days past due and many of her credit cards are maxed out. >> and her son also told investigators his mother took four dogs with her when she left, but a local shelter, their records show that he actually surrendered the dogs back in july. the son is in the wake county jail on a $200,000 bond. >> candace sweat in the news room, thank you. days after she lost her child a mother is opening up about her grief. about the accident. plus, the former minister who was able to show grace when an of a big democratic rally on the campus of nc state. hillary clinton expected to make an appearance in the next two hours. the midnight rally going on much of the evening. a local family sharing their grief after their young daughter was hit and killed outside their home. the 3-year-old was hit by a car on old us 1. the witness told investigators that the girl ran into the road, but the parents questioned that. they say she was in the yard with her father and siblings putting together a toy before she was hit. their sense of loss tonight is unbearable. >> i can't go home, i can't sleep. i miss her. and know our family isn't complete anymore. >> the highway patrol doesn't expect to file charges against the driver. court documents reveal new information in a hit and run crash that hurt two cyclists in cary. the man hit them, drove the damaged car to a nearby cul-de- sac with a bike quote embedded into the hood or windshield. he then removed the bike and threw it into the street. blood and strands of hair were found stuck to the windshield. moore is charged hit and run. one cyclist remains in the hospital in critical condition. >. a funeral for a campbell university student will be held tomorrow at a golf course in pilot mountain. he was a freshman and studying golf management. the 18-year-old fell out of the 3rd floor dorm room window thursday night and died. the investigation continues, but at this point police do not believe foul play was involved. raleigh police need your help to find a missing man. issued tonight for harrison last seen on capital boulevard in raleigh and could be headed to new jersey. the first woman to serve as the us attorney general has died. family members say janet reno passed away at her home in miami after a battle with parkinson's disease. she was 78 years old. her career peaked as attorney general under president bill clinton. she ran for governor florida, narrowly losing in the 2002 democratic primary. and mike is here, it's going to get colder closer to the weekend. >> yes, by sunday we could be looking at the first freeze. well overdue. should have been the end of october not the middle part of november. it's going to be cold tonight. some of us near freezing. here's what's ahead. it's a colder night with lows in the 30s. some frost is possible up towards southern virginia, south hill and points northward could be in the upper 20s to low 30s. it will be a sunny election day. tomorrow afternoon. then another cold front coming along on wednesday and another small chance for rain when that front comes through. okay, frost advisory for the counties in blue, and south hill up to north hampton county and points in between, you have a freeze warning in effect, so you could have a killing freeze for plants that are set outside, so make sure you protect those here for raleigh go mid-30s. areas of frost. sensitive plants could be damaged, but it's not a killing freeze. that may come on sunday as you'll see in the seven-day forecast coming up. we have the focus on the reynolds coliseum across the state at nc state. busy night over there. linda and adam will be very busy in the coming hours. spectacular day. plenty of sunshine. high pressure ruling the weather. it's now getting closer to us, and with the center of high pressure closer to us the winds are very light, so light winds are expected, clear skies, dry air, allowing temperatures to fall to the dewpoints generally in the 30s. tomorrow high pressure moving out, so the air tomorrow, so we're expecting upper 60s, and then the rain for the plains to the west, lower mississippi valley, mississippi getting wet as well as louisiana. this is part of an upper level trough and a cold front setting up shop across the plains, and that's the wednesday cold front because it arrives here on wednesday, and a whole a lot of this rain doesn't make it here, but folks in alabama and georgia in a desperate drought situation could really enjoy seeing this, but it's not going to happen, they're not likely about high pressure, clear skies, cold air. we'll take up to -- wake up to bright skies tomorrow. if you're headed to the vote in the morning coats required. in the afternoon you can shed the coats, it will be mild with upper 60s. we start to see the high thin clouds spread into the area in the afternoon. still mostly attack last month. jury selection continues wednesday in the federal death he was indicted on 33 counts related to the charleston church shooting. the jury pool was narrowed to 512 charleston caused the explosion. the homeowner suffered nonlife threatening injuries. only minor injuries after a 5.2 earthquake in oklahoma. the shaking shattered windows and brought down building facades the american psychological association is offering tips to counter election stress. they recommend limiting 24-hour cable news consumption, avoid getting into arguments about the election, channel [ laughter ] >> i didn't even remember some of those. >> i'd forgotten a couple of those [ laughter tomorrow's the last day! >> yeah, no excuse, the weather is pretty good. go out and vote if you haven't already. >> absolutely. a lot of people out tomorrow, just be patient and do your duty. >> the polls open until 7:30. >> now in europe they're dealing with harsh weather. let's look at what's happening over here. wintry scene in europe. france saw the first snow of the season causing heavy traffic jams. in areas of spain snow-covered and this was also repeated in parts of uk. scotland, germany, austria and parts of northern italy seeing snow, and greg fishel is panting off camera because he'd love to see the snow, and some video this afternoon, the flakes were huge coming down slowly and gently. quite cold there. and weather desk top, we have rain out there. off to the west we showed you the regional radar a trough of low pressure to the west, and just to the east of the trough is where we see the rising motion with showers and thunderstorms across texas and a big area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere offshore pulling the cool air down from canada, so we expect a very cold night in the eastern part of the country. here's the advisories and warnings going on. where you see the dark shade of blue, that's the frost advisory in effect. temperatures ranging anywhere from 32 to 37. and lasts until 9:00 a.m. and this region, not likely a killing frost. temperatures in the mid to upper 30s, just a few isolated spots at 32, and the blithe blue is -- light blue is a freeze warning, definitely a killing freeze with low 30s to upper 20s across central virginia. maybe a bit milder across north hampton county. we showed you the rain before the commercial break, and here's the rain fall not widespread steady heavy rain, maybe two inches across southern louisiana, and texas as well, and lesser totals, western pennsylvania half inch, and northern mountains could see anywhere from a quarter to a half inch of rain with that front coming in. and here across central and eastern north carolina, maybe a tenth of an inch to a quarter, and no rain is expected across parts of alabama and georgia. they are deep in a drought. tuesday they could start to see rain in the area. school bus stop forecast in the morning. very cold start. call it the election day forecast for the morning as well. by 8:00 a.m., sunshine, clear skies, 38. coats will be needed, but during the afternoon we expect to warm up into the upper 60s. here's the seven-day forecast. 69 tomorrow. wednesday with the front coming in variably cloudy. small chance of rain, and thursday brighter, cooler 60. another front friday night weekend, but at least bright weather. high of 56. that's going to hurt, the normal high is 65. significantly cooler, and the first widespread freeze could come the sunday. >> so warmer than normal to colder than normal just like that. >> it's kind of like rain. you get a bunch and then none, it evens out. >> thank you mike. well, an arrest ends in on unexpected find for police in australia. n them now buck newton wants to be our top law-enforcement officer, but he failed to show up in the state senate. buck missed nearly one out of five votes, more than any senator but one. 10 times, buck newton was penalized for missing tax deadlines. the press says, "an attorney general should show more respect for the rule of law." he doesn't look much like a basketball player, but a los angeles lakers fan padded his bank account with a sweet shot. here it is. half court, nothing but net. shot. fans at the staples center went crazy. even the players watching this guy knock down the sceat, and look how -- basket, and look how cool he was afterwards. won 35 grand. >> it seems like it should be more than that! that was a great job. maybe he can do it again. that was awesome. well, it's not unusual to spot a koala in australia, but you wouldn't expect to find it in a backpack, but that's where they searched the bag belonging to a woman being arrested on an unrelated crime. look at that little face! she told them she found him saturday and has been caring for him. officers believe the bear named alfred is about six month old. he was a little dehydrated, but overall in really good health. >> i'd like to take one home too! >> who wouldn't want one of nose?
